I went to Thornton Donovan, grades 7 – 12. It may have been some 24 years ago but some of the most inspirational teachers that I ever had are STILLTHERE! Mr Griffin and Mrs Petrosino! After Thornton Donovan I went to a good college, got my BA in 4 years flat, and have enjoyed a very successful career. As to the comments about the headmaster, Doug Fleming. I can tell you that I was NOT one of his model students in my day — far from it! I had my fair share of well-deserved detention :-) NEVER in any of that time did he EVER lay a hand on a student. Doug Fleming is a very capable educator and leader. The great people at Thornton Donovan helped to prepare and build the foundations of MYLIFE.

The review by Louis L. is horribly incorrect, to the point where I made an account just to partially cancel out that misinformed drivel. To my knowledge, this school’s headmaster, though racist*, has never attacked anyone at the school. *(He makes comments of varying insult, though never in an angry or serious way. The sliver of humor, which I believe is all he sees, is the irony of an apparently racist headmaster leading such an internationally involved school) Thornton-Donovan has a very small average class/grade size, around 8 – 15 students, allowing for huge amounts of individual attention. The main staff for the upper school are all overly qualified for the classes they teach, but 35% or so of the teacher slots are constantly vacated and filled, probably due to the need to keep tuition prices low. Organized sports are not hard to find, but with such a small student body, there are no teams(to compete with other schools) Clubs can be started and made ‘official’ within a day of the desire being found. Say someone thought«why isnt there a ping-pong club?» and in a few weeks, there are interested students who come in whenever they want to/have the time(it is held after school for about an hour and a half, though students can leave whenever they need to) a teacher to supervise, and two ping-pong tables set up in an extra room of one of the school’s buildings. There is also minimal PE in the middle school, and none in the upper school. During lunch period, the students are free to play on the large field, or the basketball court. This school is internationally involved in a way that would take hours to describe. Hours that I do not have. In TD, it is odd if you havn’t been to at least three different countries by Senior year, and it is easily possible to have been to more.
