I am very particular when it comes to my dogs. As I am involved with dogs, all of my friends are dog/​horse people. When my dog broke a tooth, they all recommended ANC Veterinary Center as Dr. Surgeon was the only board certified canine dentist in Westchester County. He has the independent veterinary practice, not those corporate veterinary hospitals that you have come to see more and more. The office is not like the corporate vet hospital, but you will get the experience and knowledge of Dr. Surgeon without paying the corporate veterinary hospital price.
I took another dog of mine to him recently. She jumped out of the car and broke three teeth, one of them a canine. He did the root canal and filed it down. He was very honest about the crown, which would protect her canine, but he showed me the photo of a dog that split the canine under the crown as a added information that it would not be 100%. I did not get the crown, but had two root canals, and one extraction. The fee was very reasonable. When I went to pick her up, she was walking around the clinic happily.
I highly recommend Dr. Surgeon.

We have a dog that has chronic skin allergies since he’s been 4 months old. I can say we’ve run the gamat of veterinarians both holistic and conventional from Manhattan to NJ to Rockland county and our best experiences have been with Dr. Surgeon. He is a top notch old time vet that you never get to see much anymore with tons of experience and knowledge under his belt. His center in New Rochelle is worth the 40 minute drive. It’s nothing special, the offices are old and there isn’t much staff because Dr. Surgeon does oversee many things himself. What we’ve noticed: the nicer and fancier the veterinarians office is the more they charge to make up for the overhead. We are not deterred by linoleum floors — in fact that is sometimes a good sign! ;)
In any case, Dr. Surgeon saw my dog 2 years ago, diagnosed a fistula from his palate to his sinuses from chronic biting of his skin and hair accumulation. He had to undergo anesthesia for repair and closure and had some teeth removed. I can’t tell you how reasonable the price was. We were shocked. I just brought my dog for a check up this week since I thought his teeth were bothering him and the service again was knowledgeable.
3 weeks prior I brought my dog to a veterinary ophthomologist in Ardsley NY who ruled out any eye issues but neglected to see that my dog had dermatitis in his facial skin folds. Dr Surgeon did everything — looked at his eyes, skin and teeth even though he technically is a oral specialist. That’s a sign of an old time doc. The ophthomologist, when asked if she could write me a Rx for Tri-​otic (common Rx for ear infections that we’ve used for 5 years) my dogs chronic ear infections (4 x per year) which we are more than able to handle, looked at me puzzled, paused and said, «I’m not sure what that is, I’m just an eye doctor.» That’s obviously BS and that reflects the much of the veterinary industry: come back for frequent expensive visits.
So in summary — I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Surgeon. He is really worth the distance I have to travel, his costs are very reasonable, and his experience and care are incredible.
