New Rochelle Metro-North Railroad Station

The best thing about this station is when the train leaves. It is amazing how a few people can do whatever they want with our station. Horrible mural, useless info desk, horrendous coffee shop, no security and terrible bathroom condition. Yes this is New Rochelle train station. We want it back. The community wants it back. Lets write a PETITION NOW!

Car was good. Checking out easy, but… It was the longest it has ever ever taken me to turn in a rental. I don’t know what was going on, but something in management was broken. We were standing and standing and standing there. Unbelievable. I would have paid a little more not to go through that.

There’s really nothing that can be added to this suburbian station, but it was still an eye opener to get out of the city and view the outskirt of NYC. New Rochelle is actually more ‘happening’ than I thought it was. Corporate buildings have moved there (cheaper rent?), chain supermarkets and drugstores, but I was also happen to realize lots of small town businesses, unlike all the historic businesses that are swallowed up by greedy and needy landlords here at home. There’s a mini convenient stores inside the station, as this is the monopoly, everything is overpriced, so if you’ve got the time, just walk a few block into town and hit up and patronize local shops. If you’re travelling far, a line of local taxis awaits for you right outside the station. I was being frugal and walked to my destination, but since the bus system is sparse and lacking in this town, do invest in a taxi ride if needed.
I used this station during the daytime, so everything was clear and safe, but when night falls, that might be a different story.

This is the epitome of a country rail station where urbane workers mix with those of us who travel to the city for pleasure. Avoid the elevators unless you need them and be aware that pan handlers abound.

Paying to park on the weekend is infuriating.
Most train stations in Westchester and Fairfield County offer free parking on weekends but not new ro and they ticket at this station if the meter is a millisecond over.
To get a pass to park durning the week takes years you stand a better chance of getting season sox tickets.
Trains come every 20min it’s a fast ride to NYC and the buses are always on time.
Save yourself aggravation take a cab or get dropped off otherwise I suggest another station.

Peak trains usually run late by a few mins.

As you exit the train you are funnelled up the crowded steps (or pee smell elevator) Then when you leave station from either side of the platforms, you’ll find cabbies abound and hustling for a fare. This is a plus if you are in a real hurry, but otherwise annoying.
Perks are that there is a bus station here, a hertz rental car, a parking garage and the Iona college shuttle.
The station is a little run down inside, the bathroom is almost always out of order, and you probably wouldn’t want to use it anyway if it was in order. The yellow lighting adds to the depressing mood here.
There is an overpriced little mini Mart convenience store inside where the same Indian guy is ALWAYS working. If you have a long wait and must get something I’d stick to prepackaged goods here. But apparently they sell pizza and other «fresh» goods. Ick. I wouldn’t go for it if it were free!
There are candy and soda vending machines outside.. You’ll probably find a better price there.
The passage that connect the tracks wreaks of urine too.
Don’t come to this station hungry or needing to use the restroom.
If you are heading to Manhattan on a Thurs, Fri, Sat night expect to be surrounded by gangs of drunken teenagers.

Despite the work done several years ago (though it might be more than several … my notion of time seems to get more distorted as I get older) to build a nice parking garage, this particular station just doesn’t have anything going on, aesthetically or functionally. I actually avoid going inside because it’s small, slovenly and depressing. The outside isn’t much better, which is why I try to arrive right before my train is scheduled to come.

I was in a rush coming through this station the other day and ended up just buying the ticket on board. It was a Zone 312– cost $ 4.50 after 10PM at night. The station itself is not that bad in New Rochelle.

Talk about America’s crumbling infrastructure. Awful and sad. An embarrassment to the «queen city of the sound.»

I feel like there has to be another shop inside the station bc that one indian guy has a monopoly going on in there! $ 3 for a bottle of soda? $ 1 for a butter roll? And no condoms means no quickie in that shitty bathroom with a random person!
F it. I end up buying a bottle of water ($ 2) and always call the shop owner crazy. always. He replies with a smirk or occasionally, an evil laugh –_​–
Anyways, you’re better off buying your ticket (s) from the teller or by using a debit/​credit card on the machines, unless you want a bunch of dollar coins fluttering in your pocket for the rest of the day.
So, the train pulls up, ALL ABOARD! Everyone rushes inside, trying to escape the smell of urine, and I continue my day :-)

I can’t believe I’m reviewing a RR station…
Ummm it’s small and local… there is a little café inside…
You can take the train to Wash DC or Boston from here as well as all the local Westchester stops
The elevators and walkway need repair and less of a pee smell would be nice

What’s worse? Nasty bathrooms or closed ones?
This is ridiculous and it’s just a matter of time before there’s a giant compost pile near the taxi stand.

Theres not much I expect out of a local railroad station. I’m here everyday after work trying to get home and its decent. The station itself is fine, but crossing the street to get to it feels like a battle not to die all the time. Can we please get some better traffic lights in New Rochelle?
