The Daily Grind is the definition of what a good coffee shop is. The atmosphere here is so well balanced. Quiet enough to study and work, busy enough to socialize and meet up with friends, and welcoming enough to sit alone at the bar area leisurely. The staff is welcoming and are super helpful at recommending drinks, entrees, and pastries based on your tastes. The owners make it a very personal experience, knowing and striking conversation with all of the regulars and making new customers feel at ease. Plenty of seating, beautiful window front, cozy couch area in the back, and the cleanest bathrooms in town. I’ve been going to this coffee nearly every day for five years and just moved away and I’m yet to find a coffee shop that compares. They carry a well roasted variety of coffees and the house has a classic, smooth flavor that is unrivaled. With such a large food menu, you can satisfy almost any craving here. It’s truly a gem in the small town it’s located in, it feels like it should be in bustling city but stepping out to the outdoor seating in the quiet downtown is perfect for a warm day. the best coffee shop I’m yet to find.

By far my favorite coffee place. The atmosphere is perfect. When I am in different towns, I compare their coffee shops to this one. I’ve been stopping in here for 15 years off and on… Love it! Drinks and food are excellent and staff is super nice. I need one like this up in my area!

The coffee is great for a small town shop! And the owner is even better:). She knows most of the customers names and if she doesn’t know you she even ask you your name and the next time u return to the shop she calls u out by ur name! The other barista’s could learn a thing or two from her! The first time we stopped by here was in the early morning, so my husband and I decided to stop by one evening and its like its a whole new grumpy crew! It’s a lot of young adults or maybe even teenagers working! They were rude to us because we stood there for a few mins looking over the drink menu, she was in a hurry and very rude!!! I hope this doesn’t happen the next time or we will not return. So my rating for this shop is 5 stars in the am and I would say no stars for pm shift

Nice variety of drinks. Friendly staff. We bought two cold speciality coffee drinks and they didn’t have much flavor. Disappointed. Nice coffee shop atmosphere.

I love the atmosphere of the Daily Grind. The employees are friendly and it’s a great place to hang out. That being said, it’s very inconsistent. You can order a latte one day and it’s perfect, the next day, it has no flavor and is way too hot so you have to wait 25 minutes before you can enjoy it. Numerous times I’ve ordered food and my order is incorrect. It’s never a huge mistake, so I never complain. These two things I don’t find as troubling as the service. In the morning, it’s great! But in the afternoon and evening, not so great. I’ve gone many times and the employees are standing around talking to their friends. Like I said before, I love going to the Grind and I will still continue to be a loyal customer, but some of these issues I feel need to be addressed.

This is the place to go and be seen in Tuscarawas County! It is a terrific family owned and run coffee shop/café that caters to the community and those from big cities(DC) as well. Order at the counter and they’ll bring your coffee to your indoor or outdoor table or get stuff to go. They’ve expanded their menu to make it even better. Afterwards, check out historic downtown NP and its collection of eclectic shops with lots of friendly people. New places will come and go but the Daily Grind has been the anchor of historic downtown New Philadelphia. And right across the street is the historic Quaker movie theatre showing the latest films at reasonable prices. I went to the Daily Grind(then known as Aberths) back in the 60’s and 70’s with my mother and grandmother. Sitting at the bar on the swivel stools eating crème sticks was the highlight of my week. The bar and swivel stools are still there. I moved away to DC but the Daily Grind is always a must each day when back visiting family. And during presidential campaign seasons you never know who you will run into there(presidential hopefuls and reporters). The Daily Grind seems to be a required stop to talk w/the locals. Check out the Daily Grind. You’ll be glad you did. c

I visited this café a few times while I was in the area for work in early March and had an overall great experience each visit. I can’t vouch for the food, but the espresso was very good and a much needed change from the run of the mill drive-thru coffee I had to endure until finding this place. In addition, the staff was down to earth and very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the mood for a high-quality coffee shop!

Ordered lunch here. Waited 30 min for two veggie wraps. Got up and asked and they were just sitting there on a plate. No apology. She just slapped them down on our table and walked away. Ummmmm. Ok???

Food and drinks are excellent but they get your food order correct only about ½ the time.

I have had an assortment of the breakfast sandwiches and they have all been delicious. All of the coffee’s are spectacular. Can tell the owner’s take care when selecting coffee to brew at their shop. The atmosphere is extremely unique, open, warm and casual. Everyone working here treats you nice. Absolutely worth trying for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I have enjoyed this place since its very first days when it was just a small cozy coffee shop in an alley. The place just improves with time. The food and atmosphere are great. The only real drawback of this place is the actual coffee. If you want syrup in your coffee they will not disappoint with the choices but the traditional coffee or espresso drinks are lacking. Judging by how the menu is tailored it seems that most customers are interested in the speciality drinks though. It could be that I am too accustomed to European styles of coffee though and for the region it is wonderful.

Went to the daily grind for breakfast. More like the daily bind. Upon entering we stood in line for an extended period of time. Once it was our turn to order they said they were too busy to make our breakfast, but as we waited for our coffees the 2 people in the kitchen were just standing around. The atmosphere was dark, cobwebs hanging from the lights, paint peeling from the walls, and there was no theme to their décor just randomness. If chaos is there theme then they had it down. Overall it was waste of time.

So I’m traveling for business and decided to look for a coffee shop to work quietly for a while to avoid the hotel. This place seemed to have good reviews. When I first walked in, I realized this was not a quiet place and I wasn’t sure I would find a table. After figuring out that I needed to place my order then find a table I saw a spot in the corner that would be good to cut down distractions. The only issue was waiting for someone to come back to the desk to take my order. It seemed like I waited quite a while, but I may have been getting impatient. Well the Chai and the Asian chicken salad were worth the wait. The chai is downright addicting. The salad had a nice balance of chicken, mandarin oranges and chow mein. The dressing may be a little salty, but still good.

For the location, it’s the best coffee shop around PLUS a ton of comfy space! The atmosphere is brilliant and the coffee is delicious! The baristas are a bit reserved, but as long as my coffee is good, I’m happy! I tend to be extremely picky with my coffee, so take this as a huge compliment! The only downside is that it’s the ONLY good coffee shop around. I tried Uncommon Grounds and as much as the atmosphere and service was friendly, I was not impressed with the coffee.

This place has a really cool atmosphere. Between the large storefront windows, the architecture and interior design, and the location in the heart of «Downtown New Philadelphia»(which puts it on a main street but a half block in every direction from residential zones) it’s a little gem for local coffee lovers. I haven’t tried any of the food yet(I’ve been told I have to try the muffins), but the coffee is good and reasonably priced. I’d rather get my caffeine fix here and put my money into a local business over a chain like starbucks any day.

Every town needs a good coffee place to hang out. We came to town to visit friends, but had to kill an hour until they returned from a concert. So Unilocal helped us with this place. Decent iced chai on a hot afternoon and couches to take a load off. Huge place, and it gets a bit dark towards the back. Nothing exceptional on the menu, but a large quiet space on a Saturday afternoon. Great old stove on display toward the front.

There are few service-oriented businesses in New Phila’s downtown that have lasted as long and with as much patron loyalty as the Daily Grind. They were my go-to place growing up to hang out with friends, and 10 years later I am still going back to reconnect with old friends and family. They’ve got some delicious flavored house brews. Recently my pick has been a tiramisu blend with a caramel flavor pump and then a splash of cream to top it off — pure decadence! Their food choices have also grown. It’s a great place to grab a bite to eat outside of the usual bagel and cream cheese that most coffee bars offer. Plus, here’s my favorite, they’ve got SPROUTS! I’m so mad at all the chains that took away their sprouts after some e. coli scare or something. I need my sprouts! Get anything with a pita. It’s all good. The BBQ Chicken Pita Pizza is pretty awesome. Anything is good. Just go. Drink. Do. Love. Enjoy!

I was pretty sure I had entered a «coffee desert» when I drove into New Philly last weekend to visit some friends. A quick search for a Starbucks turned up that the closest store was over 20 miles away. 20 miles! I’m not used to being more than 20 yards from a Starbucks in my day-to-day life(as well as many great non-chain shops). I figured if the town couldn’t even support a Starbucks then there was no hope for a decent cup of coffee around. I pulled up Unilocal to see if there was a diner, or any place nearby that would save me from having to drink a disgusting sugary«McCafe» beverage. Who would have figured that an awesome local coffee shop is what I would find. When you walk in the front door, you see nicely repurposed space. What was at some point in history a storefront of some kind is now Daily Grind. The menu is good. They actually had cold brewed iced coffee. The barista even warned me that it was going to be really strong. So yeah — as long as Daily Grind is around, New Philly doesn’t need any soulless chain coffee places anyway.
