Stopped in after a scenic drive through N.P. and Minnewaska and Murphy’s food was spoken highly of. I’d been here in the past but had never eaten here. It happened to be Happy-Hour(4 – 7) and featured select apps for $ 5 and $ 5 pitchers of Bud Light/Miller Lite along with $ 3 bottles of Bud/B.L./Coors Lt./Miller Lt. I was with my girlfriend and her best friend and I had the Southwest egg-rolls and we all split the Nachos Grande with chili and thought it was all phenomenal and definitely hit the spot. Knew exactly what I was walking into and we all were completely satisfied.

Went to happy hour last Friday with a large group of people. We arrived at about 7, sat outside and the place was relatively empty. We ordered a bunch of drinks and appetizers as soon as we sat down. The drinks came in 10 minutes but we waited about an hour for our food(which was just wings). Our waitress was brand new so she messed up a few of our orders, but I don’t believe the long wait was her fault. By the time the food came I was so hungry I would have eaten anything. I honestly think we came to Murphy’s on an off night. I would be willing to try again.

Great place to hang with a few friends and throwback a beer or two. It has a typical New Paltz bar feel to it and is always packing Thursday-Saturday night. The line outside usually moves rather quick. I would consider this a fun dive bar filled with lots of college students(underage as well) The waitstaff is very friendly and laid-back, keep in mind that you are not at a five star establishment.

This place is ok. The food is very good. However the service needs work. I was here parent family weekend with my dog and it took us 2 hours to get our food, such a disappointment with the service, the waitress was serving people that got there after us first.

Very hot food, good proportions but very salty food. Had Shepards pie and beef stew that came with garlic bread.

Love this place. The other 2 Irish bars in town are pure plastic paddy. This is as authentic as you can get this side of the pond. The owner is from Ireland and he and his grandson and a good friend of his made our visit there a grand time. The food was great, fresh hot crisp fish and chips and a huge burger with fries. The service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back again!

Really like it here. The food and drinks were great. Very inexpensive and cool vibe. Went here on a date night with my fiancé. We both had a full meal and drinks. Our bill only came up to about $ 30 which was great. Can’t remember the name of the girl serving us, but she was really friendly. Management came around and asked if we were being helped. The staff seemed really attentive. I would definitely go back.

Murphy’s offered a decent beer selection and solid bar food. My burger was cooked to order, and it tasted good. The fries were on point. The server was pleasant, and I would go back again.

Worst food ever! Once my food arrived it was cold. When it was brought back re-heated I could swear it was just something frozen, re– heated to begin with and not fresh! The food my 10 year old daughter order made her sick to her stomach! And the waitresses seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves then in customer service. Even my 10 year old daughter asked why this place was still in business!

I love this place. I was visiting a good friend in town and stumbled upon this place. i love bars like this. The bar food was yummy and the staff was exceptional while still having a good time. Can’t wait to stumble upon this place again. You’ll never get a warm beer here.

Great wings! Wing night-Mondays for 50 cents. I must say I think their wings are even better than McGillicuddys. Leave by night though, it turns to a sketchy frat bar.

Aweful. The food that my group and I ordered are all subpar. They all taste frozen. Not fresh at all. And the white chocolate chip in a chicken salad? I know this is a bar, but its totally unacceptable.

Went here with a group of people for lunch after hiking at Mohonk Preserve. We weren’t expecting much but the burgers were decent and the waitstaff was friendly. Only odd thing was that we didn’t get enough chips with our dip for our party of 6. We had to order some more, and even when that came it wasn’t enough. That was the only odd thing, other than that the food, drinks, and service were nice enough.

sh pub? Yeah, that’s a BIG negative. A few friends and I went here one night and it was not welcoming in any aspect. We felt uncomfortable before stepping a foot inside. I guess it was Turkish night… the jukebox was off and the bartenders laptop was plugged in with Turkish music on repeat. I’m very open to all and not closed minded, BUT the cold stares, whispering and aggressive body language made it clear that we were not welcome — by the male bartender and all the customers. Not only that, but there was broken glass outside and the inside was equally disgusting. Bottles everywhere, spilled drinks and empty shot glasses littered the entire bar. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a bar. Will never come to this place again.

I only ever go there for wing night on Mondays. The ambiance is fun and the wings are great. My friends and I do love going out for the late night scene, but(please note I’m not blaming this on the bar at all) if you’re a girl bring a friend or two. I’ve heard some not very good stories about incredibly inappropriate touching that’s happened during the later hours.

Ok everyone. This is a BAR. If you go here expecting anything other than Bar food, of course you will be disappointed. As a bar, this place is the classic dive. The drinks are cheap, the pool table is tilted, and the DJ is typically a college student. There is a wheel on the wall, that the bartender spins for drink special on Thursdays, and they are one of the few New Paltz bars on the college scene that actually has regulars on the weekdays. Even on the weekend, when the bar gets pretty crowded, the noise is bearable and the bartenders are friendly.

Stopped in for the happy hour at Murphy’s when I was in New Paltz, NY for the afternoon. The exterior was welcoming, as I noticed the sandwich board on the sidewalk with their specials clearly listed. My boyfriend and I took seats at the bar and were given menus right away. We decided to order a few appetizers and some drinks. We tried their spinach artichoke dip which was supremely thick and cheesy. They had a special happy hour price on wings(40 cents each) so we got a dozen regular flavor, medium spice. The bartender let us know that they had other flavors like garlic and cajun, but we wanted to stick with the classic, which ended up being pretty decent. I’m not even that into wings, and I ate 4, which is a compliment to their flavor and edibility. They had a few drink specials as well. The best deal was domestic pitchers for $ 5. Well drinks were $ 3, which was also very fairly priced. I drank a few rum and pineapple juice drinks which were fine, especially at that price. The bartender was friendly. We chatted for a few minutes and he told us it’s a real college bar at night and on weekends. We could tell that the tables in the dining area looked kind of scattered, and he said they remove most of them at night. When we were there, the crowd was more middle aged and the place was fairly empty. They had four t.v.s at the bar. It definitely has a sports bar flavor mixed in with an Irish pub flare. The atmosphere was casual and a bit divey, though the bar overall was clean. Lots of bottled alcohol to select from. Not the best selection of beers in my opinion: A few good ones on tap, but mostly run of the mill styles in bottles. Overall worth a try, especially at happy hour(4−7pm Monday through Friday, I believe). Seems like it gets really crowded later at night, more of a college party scene.

I used to go here A LOT when it was Foley’s and after the legal troubles they opened up as Murphy’s. It IS truly a nice place to chill, relax and have some beers. Last time I was here, we watched the Pepperdine Women’s Volleyball team and we had a blast. It’s never too crowded and the atmosphere is laid back. In a town like New Paltz, you need that sometimes…

Went there with a group of 5 and we all had a good time. Sports on the TV, good beer, good food. I was only there once but, I will go back. The bathroom was dirty but, it’s a pub.

Wonderful customer service. They’ll do anything they can to find your game(even university football), always smiling, flexible pleasant people. They have reasonable prices and you can’t go wrong here. This is the bar we watch our games in New Paltz, NY. Give it a try!
