After a long day of hiking, this was the closest seafood restaurant. You enter through a fresh seafood market. On the right, you will see the entrance to this nautical themed restaurant. I ordered the Lobster Bake which included a whole lobster, mussels, clams, and coleslaw for $ 23. The price varies depending on what size you order. I ordered the smallest size they had, which was pretty big. You can really taste the freshness of the seafood. The fish filet was the perfect consistency inside and out. It was so crispy and fresh! Just a heads up, the Lobster Diablo is a pasta dish. My friend was upset because she wanted a whole lobster.

Market Review: The staff is super helpful. if you want something special ie — sushi-grade tuna they will order it for you in advance. Fish is freshest in the area and their spicy crab salad is so good!

Fresh seafood. Tasty meals. Great service! Super duper fresh oysters. I love them. Had the clam chowder — yummy creamy of deliciousness! Fish and chips is good cuz the fish is fresh and crispy. Crab cake is super yummy. Steamed lobster –with mussels and clams come with a side of cole slaw. I love them all. Last time I was having a pasta dish with mixed seafood in white creamy sause. It was awesome and it was a big serving. =) We had chocolate cake and apple crumble for desserts. Yummy!

The seafood is usually fresh. I had the roasted striped bass with olives, kale and roasted potatoes it was surprisingly tasty but costly $ 27.95. The service is spotty and the entrees take a long time to come out even when the place is half full. I would recommend the clam or oyster appetizer since it will be a long wait. One saving grace is that the bread is warm and delicious.

Market review: Seriously fresh seafood. Great selection of oysters but they sell out so go early! Reliably fresh. Nice selection of whole fish and salmon as well as sushi grade tuna.

I am seriously disappointed, This used to be the best place for seafood. This used to be the only place upstate that I trusted for seafood.(also born and bred on LI) Not anymore – the restaurant has been going steadily downhill. The last straw was the lobster roll I got this week. I had had a very bad day and was really hoping to cheer myself up with some good seafood – yrs ago the lobster roll was fresh with big chunks of fresh lobster – it was served with a side of fries. One time they ran out of fries and the chef made me this awesome corn salad instead. Those were the days! This week’s lobster roll was mostly finely chopped bits of something that may have been lobster. There were 2 chunks of claw meat, but they were dry and had probably been in the fridge for a few days-ugh. I literally spit the coleslaw out of my mouth and back onto the plate-it tasted rancid, and was hands down the worst coleslaw ever. It may have truly been rancid, someone may want to check that out… And there were no fries – so for 16 dollars I had a really mediocre sandwich and couldn’t even eat the coleslaw. So here I sit, awaiting food poisoning. I will not be going back to Gadaleto’s anytime soon.

I have been to Gadaleto’s many times over the years and usually have had positive experiences. I had not been to Gadaletto’s in quite a while, but I went there on a Sunday evening, June 14, 2015 to meet with some former colleagues to catch up and have dinner. We met there at 7:00 pm and they are open until 9 pm on Sundays. Our meals were OK but I honestly have never had such awful customer service in my life. Our waitress, Angela(G?) was abrupt and unfriendly throughout the meal. We felt we were being rushed the entire time. Not only were we rushed, but she never once throughout the meal, came over to check to see if we needed anything. After dropping off our check, she came over several times to ask if we had looked at the check yet. We explained that we had not had a chance to look at it. She came over three different times(all within just a few mins of each other) and each time she was getting ruder in her approach. At this point it was not even near 8:30 pm and the restaurant is open until 9PM, and there was still another table of guests in there. We gave her the check with our payment and she made an unbelievably rude comment that she would«like to be able to get home tonight.» We all looked at each other in disbelief. It was beyond rude and as I mentioned above, I have never had such abysmal treatment in a restaurant. Obviously, I will never return to Gadaleto’s and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. They need to get rid of that waitress, Angela, if they want customers. Horribly unpleasant experience!

Went there with my daughter tonight. Food was ok to me daughter liked it a lot. Prices were a little high for what you got. I got fish and chips not seasoned all that great, she had salmon and a salad and liked it. Will be a while before I go back and try it again.

I had a perfect meal here yesterday. Beautifully shucked clams. Good wine. Deliciously fresh Arctic char with a perfectly blackened crust and a smoky sauce. Mmmm was soooo good.

Growing up on the water in Long Island, being able to catch and cook my own seafood has made me a tough critic when it comes to fresh seafood. Living upstate now I’m able to enjoy the most amazing farm to table food available on the entire Northeast, but now I can have the best of both worlds, «Surf & Turf» at it’s finest! The fiancé and I were the only diners here last Sunday night, even though they closed at 9 and we arrived after 8 we were no where near treated like we had to leave or we messed up their evening by having to stay later. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable of everything on off of the menu. We ordered half dozen little necks, half dozen oysters, both were amazingly fresh and delicious. You know it’s all fresh because you walk through their seafood market before you enter their restaurant, you can see the food you’re about to eat. The Royal Miyagi oysters were amazing, clean and meaty. The lobster Fra Diablo was spicy and plentiful and my grouper broiled to perfection. I was given a choice of 2 sides, I went for the roasted potatoes and beet salad thinking they would be average, but wow I was really surprised. The ambiance is great too, you’ll forget you’re in the center of New Paltz and not on a boat reeling in your own prized catch of the day! All in all a great meal, a bit pricey but totally worth it because not only is it fresh but it’s also sustainable seafood, mostly caught wild and/or raised in an organic compassion way. Delicious and guilt free!

Had a very bad experience here. Contaminated clams… the owner was absolutely unsympathetic to say the least. Ran out the back door rather than speak too me. The worst ever. Will never return.

So… I’ve eaten here before and it was good. However I bought clams here the other day to take home. They were put into a paper bag which didn’t strike me as wrong(they are the seafood professionals) until I got home, took the bag out of the car and they all fell onto the floor if my garage… the wet clams causing the paper bag to break! I lost about half of the clams to this disaster and my respect for this place. When I called they did offer store credit but not sure when I’ll make it back!

I tried for 3 ½ stars — honestly it was OK but not great. I get the sense the seafood, itself, is fresh but the accompanying food isn’t. My business partner has Fish and chips & she was very disappointed. The files were very thin with a lot of breading, which she specifically asked about. Nice people, Ok restaurant but not top of the line

We found this place here on Unilocal while scouring for some descent seafood in the Hudson Valley. I can’t give it five stars cause that means perfection and they are not perfect. A fish market with a restaurant next to it can’t be. Now, I have always gone around the same time. 8PM and always on a Friday, I have now visited the place 4 times in the past 4 months and the consistency has been amazing. The New England Clam chowder is excellent. The clams are always fresh, the calamari, I have seen people mess it up is crispy with a fine marinara. Now the food. My wife has had the lobster bake at every meal, she is in love with it. I have tried a few of the dishes here and there. The fried I am not a fan off, I’m used to the fried fish having some sort of seasoning and they seem not to use any. But everything else has been excellent. The broiled fish is my favorite, while the blackened takes 2nd. I have personally not had the lobster bake cause I just steal some of my wives. The décor is also not aligned with the price. The price is nice seafood price and the décor does not match. I took the star because of the décor and lack of seasoning on the fried fish. Plus perfection is hard to win. Me and my wife will continue to be regular patrons until further notice. Mind you we have to drive almost 30 minutes from Poughkeepsie to get there, and its WORTHIT…

Food was excellent!!! My mother went out to lunch with us and she has severe shellfish allergies. I called beforehand and asked if it were possible to accommodate her allergies(it being a seafood restaurant) and they said they had a limited amount of items that would not have cross contamination but yes, they could accommodate her allergies. When we got there we told the waitress that we were the customers who had called about a shellfish allergy. Four of us had the lobster and they made sure that my mom’s entrée was delivered separately. I would give it 5 stars but I think we were annoying the waitress and as much as she tried to conceal it, she didn’t. I have worked food service and I know how annoying customers can be. That is why I called beforehand. I knew how difficult it could be to not have cross contamination of shellfish in a seafood restaurant and my mother, unlike countless customers that I have encountered, takes ownership of her allergies and tells wait staff BEFORE ordering what her allergies are.(she carries an epi pen with her at all times). I do have to give the waitress credit for trying not to be annoyed.

They have a new chef there now. We took the family there once since the change. Apparently the change had just happened and they were in transition. I could tell right away things were different and better. The menu was updated. We had a better experience than before but I’d like to go back again to see what the new chef has done with the menu in the past year. Their seafood is always topnotch. Their restaurant seems to be improving. I would try it if I were you!

Boy. Am I lucky. It is only Sunday night of a long holiday weekend and I have had one of the best ever. Fair, markets, food, it is good to be me. So what was the perfect evening? An amazing seafood dinner at Gadaleto’s with my honey. We had heard of Gadaleto’s after attending a friend’s backyard BBQ/Raw Bar. He had purchased his clams and oysters from Gadaleto’s and they were just incredible. He was very generous to his guests and I did try to take advantage… ;o) So this weekend after spending the day at the New Paltz Craft Show, we knew we had to cap off our day with some oysters. We entered through the market and were astounded at the fish and seafood they had to offer as well as the accompaniments. If one wanted to make fresh sushi at home, they would outfit you and you would be good to go. Exotic Japanese, Italian and Thai products including Harissa. Who has that!!! Anyhoo, on to dinner as we passed by the open kitchen and the chefs working their magic. The dining room feels like the ground floor of a lighthouse with its pitched architecture and décor. Cute! Our servers were friendly, efficient and took great care of us. The Blue Points were sexy delish(why Am I on Unilocal then… waiting for them to kick in properly…) and all that we remembered them to be. Our entrees, Pasta Vongole with SpIcY Fra Diavolo sauce for me with its minced bits of clams(so spicy my wips are still buwning) and the multi seafood version for The L. were soooooo good. We could not even finish them so we brought them home for tomorrow. We rarely have leftovers(which they were thoughtful enough to wrap in plastic baggged containers) but boy it was quite the day! We definitely are going to go back for their fresh fish Sunday Dinners. What a deal! I would seriously recommend Gadaleto’s. Forget Newburgh’s waterfront and their Sysco frozen seafood. Make the drive to New Paltz. I guarantee you will not do better anywhere in the region. Mangia bene!!!
