Very Cool authentic German Christmas shop. Everything in the Christmas Haus is imported directly from Germany from vendors who hand craft each individual piece. They have a lot of great glass ornaments, as well as very detailed wood ornaments. Two things that really stood out that are hard to find in America were the Pyramids, and the Smokers. A Pyramid is a hand carved wooden piece with an upright windmill style piece that spins causing the entire piece to go into motion anytime a gust hits it. Very Cool. The Smokers are a very intricate carved wood person that you place an incent inside of, and the smoke bellows out. Overall this is a really cool place to stop while in the quaint little town of New Oxford Pa on historic Route 30. I will be back again for sure.

This Place is a hidden gem .If you are into German collectibles they have it all. I highly recommend the stop on your trip through the area. The gentleman that was running the register, I unfortunately can’t remember his name, was a treasure trove of useful information for the local and surrounding area. He was very personable and made our experience there much more enjoyable. I will definitely be going back again also check out their website

You just never know what you’ll find if you have some extra time, a few bucks for gas, and Unilocal. We had a bit of «history fatigue» after two days touring the Gettysburg battlefields, so went meandering around on day three. Philip is a Christmas decorating nut(we’ve made road trips from Atlanta to Michigan, for pete’s sake, to buy six-foot plastic reindeer) so I typed in «Christmas» and hit«near me» and this place popped up. Oh my! Glad we brought the Mastercard! The Christmas Haus is one larger and two tiny buildings filled with Christmas goodies from Germany(exclusively). One building features ornaments and finials(we bought one of these, it is really lovely), another building of pyramid windmills(those little wooden things that you light tiny candles to make the blades spin) and then the main building with more and more and more ornaments, greeting cards, candles for the pyramids, incense, itty bitty carved figurines for Christmas tableaux, all manner of things. This is nice stuff — not Garden Ridge/Home Depot stuff, and some of it is expensive — you can buy an ornament for $ 9 or you can buy a lovely set of Dickens’ «A Christmas Carol» hand-blown and –painted glass ones for $ 200. They have the largest variety of Christmas pickles I’ve ever seen. I admit I’m a bit disturbed by the fact that I was impressed by a large array of Christmas pickles, but so it goes. Friendly lady behind the counter, beautiful shop, unique items. Even more fun, perhaps, because it’s in New Oxford, PA and not Big City, USA.

Imagine waking up in ‘St. Nicholas’ Toy Shop’. That’s what walking into the Christmas Haus feels like. Take one step inside this house turned«German Wunderland», and you’ll revert back to a 6-year-old. I actually spent part of my childhood in Germany, and I literally squealed upon walking through the front door — the reveal is THAT good. Everything in the store is imported directly from Germany, and neatly presented so you can appreciate the artisanship. They also have several displays showing how much work goes into each style of ornament, which really makes you appreciate the quality of the items. The diversity of products is amazing as well. From traditional nut crackers to smokers to music boxes to tree ornaments and much more. And the staff was very helpful and just plain nice — thanks Anita! So the next time you’re traveling to Amish Country and find yourself on Route 30, don’t just grab the prerequisite Pennsylvania Dutch pretzel — make sure to stop by the Christmas Haus! Not only will you have an excuse to let out a little bit of your childhood ‘giddy’, but you might even be inspired to finish your holiday shopping before December 24th!
