Absolutely amazing. Food was great with excellent service. Extremely quick service once we were seated. Portions could have been a bit bigger, but the quality made up for it.

Went for steak and it was the most amazing and astronomically sized portion ever seen, even the waiters had to come and gawk at the size that was served. Delicious flavors and everything was perfect, will def come back.(will post a pic when I find it)

The Cookhouse looks a little scary and empty from the outside, but that could be because it was nighttime and because their parking lot is in the back(so you can’t really see the cars). This doesn’t affect my rating or the restaurant itself, but I thought it was worth noting, as that was my first impression of it. Entry: Parking lot is decent and there were several spots open. We were greeted upon entering and were seated right away. Service: I came here with my mother, who is literally the worst person to eat with. Why? Because she asks a billion questions like«How is that?» and«Do you suggest this?». Of course they’re going to suggest it, it’s their restaurant! Anyway, why does this hold any relevance? Because we spent almost ten minutes going over the menu WITH the waitress, until I finally gave my mom the death stare and asked the waitress if she could give us a couple of minutes MORE.(I tried this before but y’all don’t know my mom). Anyway, after I asked my mom why she made things so complicated, I figured out an order that would make us all happy, and our waitress came back with a smile on her face. Throughout our whole encounter, she was nice and attentive! She continuously checked on us, asked us how everything was, brought take out containers, etc. A+ for customer service. Food: Since this was our first time here, we wanted to try a little bit of as much as we could. To start off they brought us a basket with biscuits and cornbread. Both were yummy! We ordered the Super Bowl special that they had, which was a half of rack of ribs and a couple of wings, a kid’s portion of a pulled pork sandwich, and a couple of sides — sweet potato fries, Mac and cheese, and dirty rice. The ribs were tasty, but they weren’t jaw dropping. My mother continuously exclaimed that the pulled pork was delicious — not drenched in sauce(unlike the ribs). The wings were good because they weren’t that spicy and were pretty meaty. Best side? The Mac and cheese hands down! Get this if you go. Like forget about getting any other side and just order the Mac and cheese appetizer option and have it come out with your food. It was delicious. Price: It was about a $ 35 bill for all that(and a glass of wine), so in my eyes it was worth the money and definitely wasn’t as expensive as we had assumed. You get a lot of food for your buck. Space: It’s clean, open, and neat. The bathroom was clean too! Overall, it was a yummy place! Pay it a visit!

We used to love the Cookhouse but have been disappointed the last few years. The sandwiches have soggy bread on the bottom. The meat is tasty but too salty for me. The service can be slow even at lunch time. The Moms Mac n Cheese is spicy and creamy, but the last time I ordered it, I think it sat out because it was less than hot. I really hope they go back to their quality of 5 years ago — the lines will be out the door again.

Preface this by saying I am only reviewing the«burnt ends special» I had last Friday night. My wife had the pulled chicken/pulled pork sandwich and my daughter had the burger — both said their meals were good. So, my 2-star review is just for my burnt ends. Burnt ends(to me) are supposed to be the filet mignon of brisket. I was expecting nice chunks of tender beef — especially when you pay more for the burnt ends than regular brisket. What I got instead were small cubes of some sort of tough meat. The cubes reminded me of cubed ham steak in terms of consistency — hard and chewy. The mashed potatoes and beans were tasty, but the meat was not good at all. I will certain return to try other meals(including the regular brisket meal) as I am a BBQ fan, but I will certainly pass over the more expensive«burnt ends special».

We absolutely love coming here! We drive all the way from Waterbury to get some good BBQ at the cookhouse. The pulled pork and ribs are absolutely delicious and the ribs truly fall off of the bone. My favorite side is creamed spinach and theirs is to die for. I would ask for more the next time I go.

I had great hopes when I walked in. Good reviews and OMG the smell out in the parking lot. Unfortunately I was not so impressed with the food. I had their cuban sandwich, pulled smoked pork and andouille sausage with pickles and swiss. The meat was excellent and there was a generous amount of it. But the bread… What even WAS that? It was like a greasy pancake of something but I wouldn’t call it bread. A cuban must be served on a crispy, mouthwatering bread that can stand up to the pork. The cole slaw was mediocre, too much mayo for my taste. Even the iced tea was somehow not right. The service was okay, the staff was pretty friendly. Not sure I would go back, I don’t think I’d have much of a change of heart.

The cookhouse is just what you want it to be — great BBQ, some awesome big salads, amazing appetizers to share or eat a lot alone, good beer, great desserts, and comfy dining. Fun bar with TV’s and sports.

Came here with my husband and another couple yesterday for an early dinner. Everyone LOVED their food. We got the nachos and corn dip for appetizers which were huge and delicious. I had the prime rib and horseradish mashed potatoes for dinner. HUGE portion and not a bad price either! My husband had the bbq burrito which he also enjoyed. My favorite part of the meal though was the strawberry shortcake, hands down the best i’ve ever had. Our waiter was really good too. He said it was only his third day serving and I was shocked because he seemed very knowledgeable, quick, & friendly. The only downside is we live pretty far so we won’t be able to come back as often as i’d like to!

Stopped in on the way back from a family function with my partner for a bite. I had heard good things, and the Cookhouse did not disappoint! Service was prompt and accurate, despite a fairly busy house on a Saturday night, which was a major plus. My partner had a veggie burger, which was delicious: had a zing, flavorful, and of substance. She also had a red pepper bisque, which was REALLY good. It was a soup of the day, so I’m not sure how often they rotate those. If it’s on the menu, do yourself a favor and order it. I, on the other hand, was there for BBQ. I’d heard good things from my family in the area about their BBQ choices, so I opted for the ribs and pulled pork platter. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the sauce flavorful. The pulled pork came with two sauce options. I chose the Carolina(vinegar-based) option, and it was nice and tangy. The pork itself was very tender, but not overdone. No complaints! And it left plenty for lunch the next day, so there’s that… Not sure about the horseradish mashed potatoes as a side. If I had to pick a weak link in the meal, that was it. It was as though they didn’t feel the need to add anything else of flavor into the mix. In any event, when mixed with meat it was a nice combination. On its own, though, the mashed potatoes weren’t great. Nice beer selection, as well. We will be back!

I had a late lunch at The Cookhouse in New Milford, and had another great experience. The BBQ food is outstanding, and the service is very good. Nice selection of foods and bar selection. I enjoy coming here, always consistent, quality food, great service, and good value.

The Cookhouse in a down home BBQ joint with friendly staff and good food. My pulled pork was served on a hearty elongated bun, which was a change from the hamburger buns you usually see, but a good change. The creamed spinach side was excellent. My strawberry shake was the thinnest I’ve had in a while, but it was still delicious. Just more milk than shake.

This is a mixed review. I liked it and my spouse did not, so I avg it out to three. We tried the all you can eat bbq. Every night of the week they have different specials. The night we went they had the all you eat special of ribs, chicken and pulled pork. The pulled pork had a very smokey taste. I really like the heavy smoke taste, my spouse not so much. It comes down to you preference. The deal is very good good sides and good meat. Plus, a free pint of beer. That is a decent deal if you like the taste.

I loved the atmosphere at The Cookhouse. I showed up with my family for valentine’s day since they didn’t care about reservations and made us feel more casual for the evening. I ordered the Tombo Mombo plate or something like that for me and my daughter to split and it was delicious. Ribs were good, the chicken was good, and so was the sausage.

Loved everything about it… Just left after a New Year’s Day post-movie dinner. Place is adorable, food is GREAT, big portions and attentive, friendly service. Recommended by me and the fam: Louisiana Meat pies, cookhouse chips and the duck entrée… But oh, that Moms mac n cheese… We WILL be back!

I am in the area on some Sundays and I found this place through Unilocal. The location is very big and spacious. Both times I have gone, it’s been a biker friendly establishment, it’s also a family friendly place because I always see little kids. The food is hit or miss. The food: Cream Spicy Corn Crock– served with warm tortilla chips. I thought the app was good, kinda like a corn chowder you scoop. The flavor was nice and the chips offer a nice crunch but the chip were not warm. It was also a little weird scooping soup, if you know what I mean. Mom’s Mac & Cheese– Bacon, jalapenos and three cheeses. I thought this mac was very pedestrian. It seemed like something an average cook would make. It also didn’t seem like it was«homemade.» The Two– Meat Combo– I picked the ribs & sliced Brisket. I thought the ribs were great, they were fork tender but a little on the sweet side. You could ask for it sauced or sauce on the side. The brisket, which I usually love, was dry and chewy. I was not a fan of the brisket. For sides, I did the Cookhouse potato chips and creamed spinach. The chips were thick cut potato chips that had a nice hefty crunch. The creamed spinach was not seasoned at all. It was bland and lifeless. Chicken fried Steak– Juicy cube steak battered and fried with creamy gravy. The steak was good for the first few bites but then it gets really heavy. The gravy is salty and on the thick side, the steak is tender and has a slight crunch but it seemed unnaturally tender. I got the Horseradish mashed potatoes and Cookhouse Coleslaw. The mash and coleslaw were just so so.

3rd Time in, met a friend here during a thunderstorm on July 4th weekend. The place was pretty packed but service did not lack. Started with a Blackberry Bourbon Lemondae. Delish! I decided to have a pulled chicken salad instead of my usual«Smart Flattboy» and I was not disappointed. This place can do no wrong, seriously it hits the mark everytime. No complaints here.
