Two stories, interior entrances, no elevator, outdoor seasonal pool, restaurant on premises. I had a work assignment in Elkton, VA which unfortunately was scheduled the same weekend as Mother’s Day and Graduation weekend for JMU. Most Choice Hotels in the area were already sold out, but I was able to secure lodging here for three nights. I would dismiss most of the negative reviews of this facility, since I looked at most of the persons that reviewed and judging from their posting history they consider Unilocal to be a place to complain. My room was clean. The employees I encountered were polite and professional. HVAC worked well, good selection of TV channels, everything in good working order, quiet surroundings — some noise from interstate 18 wheelers since my room faced that direction. Free breakfast buffet included scrambled eggs, pancakes, cereals, juice and coffee. It is an older facility, and some of the room furnishings and public areas could use some maintenance. Two negatives — for some strange reason there was no CBS station available on the TV and the front desk clerk could not tell me why when I asked. The other is the price. I know I was there on days when every lodging place was at a premium because of JMU graduation, but I went to the choice hotels website and put in dates a few weeks later. While those rates were lower, they were in line with all of the other Choice hotel properties in the area, and in my opinion this properties’ nightly price should be lower than the newer Choice Hotels in Harrisonburg.

I’ve stayed here several times, the nursing home I worked for would put us up overnight during bad weather. It’s nothing fancy, outdated, sometimes clean but never what id expect from a hotel. I wouldn’t brag about the hotel. Staff is very friendly though, seems like a nice place but once you get to the room you feel like you got ripped off.

I booked a reservation here for my son’s basketball tournament. My expectations were low, but this was one of the worse hotels I have experienced in a long time! Let’s begin with the wind machine you experience when you walk through the automatic doors. I’m sorry, «are we in a car wash?» The hotel clearly has not been renovated since it was built because the carpet was filthy and I recommend you go bare feet at your own risk. The shower pressure was a dribble and the so called continental buffet was out of eggs and pancakes. Their was not enough chairs to sit down so we went to Burger King!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Asked for a room with outside door as we were traveling with pet. Enter room and pet found DRUGS on the floor. Entire hotel smells. Left hotel and then received notification they were adding additional charges to my card because maid found a dog hair. Glad to know they can find a dog hair in a room that I booked for me and my dog. Maybe finding drugs is their next milestone. We will never stay here again. Beware!

Don’t let the lobby fool you, this is a very rundown cheap hotel charging $ 100 a night. It doesn’t even have a free breakfast at that ridiculous price! For a thread-bear motel, this place shouldn’t be more than $ 50. Go across the street to the days inn or stay at the budget inn that is charging an appropriate rate for the truly truly budget accommodations.

We have been staying at this hotel for many years. The building and facilities are old and outdated, but we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The restaurant, which is attached to the hotel had good food at reasonable prices and the wait staff was friendly and the service was quick. We would stay here again, understanding that its not the newest hotel but the staff and cleanliness make the stay pleasant and enjoyable.

Stay here if you ever wanted to know what it would be like if the keystone cops ran a hotel. They bungled my reservations, the billing and just about everything they tried to do. The young man who checked us in was very rude(turns out he was fired the next day) and after repeated calls the billing was finally squared away however I asked to speak to the manager(Mary Smith) and was told she would not speak to me! I dont feel her staff was being truthful about all the errors and they didnt want me to tell her! The hallways smelled like smoke and we were awakened by a lovers triangle situation the night we stayed. The food at the restaurant was decent but the waitress was barely coherent. maybe she was part of that lovers tirangle the night before? 6 weeks after my stay and finally got it all straight. they apologized but really, I have spent way more time and energy sorting out their mistakes then I should. Even my bank was stymied as to their billing practices. If you have to stay there pay cash.

Ugh, something smelled in the room that I had an allergic reaction to. In addition, although the rooms on the floor were non-smoking, the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke. Oh and this is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here and noticed an issue with ants. This time they were crawling up the walls. Last time they were in the bathroom. No, I definitely won’t stay here again.

I allegedly booked the hotel for Wednesday, although I was sure it was booked for Thursday. By the time I got there they said I had to pay for the new night. I Do not recommend. Front desk staff are not courteous at all.
