Time to close the doors and call it quits folks. In the four years that my wife and I have lived in the area, it has always been a poor experience. Time and time again we have given McKenna’s a chance. The deal breaker… I’m handicapped due to my military service. The last time we were there, an older employee, who was putting up Christmas decorations of all things, nearly knocked me over as I carefully made my way to the restroom on forearm crutches. Then, she had the audacity to look at me with scorn. This wasn’t the first time that I had seen her express contempt toward a customer. That did it for us. Lack of respect and appreciation of your guests, poor service and marginal food cost you two customers who tried to be loyal. Maybe they will put a McDonalds there. Even THAT would be an improvement.

It’s ok for breakfast. Food all seemed a bit overcooked and dry. Pancakes were very dry. Coffee was not drinkable, tea was good. Server was really nice. It’s not bad if you have no other options.

Horrible!!! Sat ourselves at the only clean table in the back dining room, we were waited on in a reasonable time but the entire time we were trying to order drinks a bus person was literally smashing dishes into the bucket every other word the waiter said was accompanied by smashing of plates and cups so rude and abrupt my father had to say something to the waiter about is this person cleaning up dishes a complete asshole we can’t even hear our own thoughts! Food is way overpriced $ 10 for a kids chicken dinner, salad bar is a joke, three of us ordered some sort of salad and then had to wait patiently for dressing and our server looked at us like we were the first to ever ask for syrup. horrible experience

Good place for homemade food. Great breads! Pancakes made from scratch with delicious maple syrup. Quick service, pleasant waitress who checked on me several times and was as nice as she could be. MacKenna’s has been here for years. Literally was a go to place when I attended college here and that was over 20 years ago. Keep up the good work! Will always return for breakfast when I’m in town!

Food is adequate, always has been. Only reason I come here is my son loves it, will never understand. What was really bad is they decided to vacuum the place while we were eating our late lunch. We were the only ones there, you would think they could have waited 20 until we left.

We were snapped at for trying to sit in the front of the restaurant with our large family. It was away from others and we have 5 children so we were attempting to spare other diners from having their meal disrupted. Server was fine. She never came back to ask how food was which was my biggest complaint about her. The food was mediocre at best. Homefries were under cooked. At 11 am they still weren’t equipped to cook lunch so I had to get breakfast. Bill was very high for what we got, both quality and quantity.

This place is so clean it smells like a geriatric ward. Waitress was horrible, food was ok. Prices are way to high for the quality of food and service. I will never go back there and will be sure to steer visitors away.

I have been here many times before for breakfast and have always found it to be adequate, but Mackenna’s has really stepped up its game. I had Eggs Benedict and the English Muffin was homemade, and the Hollandaise was fresh and delicious, none of that garbage from a mix. Kids and wife all loved their food as well. Service was fast and friendly. Solid breakfast at a fair price!

One of the worst places I have ever been. The waitress was sassy and their food tasted like burnt rubber. The coffee was weak and they had awful timing. Don’t go here– go to Graze instead.

Decent local spot for a nice breakfast. had a late breakfast(10am) and the place was quite crowded. waitress was friendly enough but not attentive. we had to keep asking for refills on coffee… water. service was pokey but they were packed. had a delicious sausage and cheese omelet… above average. delicious meat and home made rye bread. hash browns were surprisingly good. wife had pancakes and bacon. pretty ordinary but good! BEWARE: when the waitress asks if you want new Hampshire maple syrup say NO. they will charge you 80 cents extra and its the smallest syrup portion you’ll ever see… barely enough to cover a forkful of French toast or pancake. Just take the regular squeeze bottle of syrup and you’ll do just fine – but you’ll have to ask for it! Pricing is fine… overall a definite A-OK place!

Lackluster food, exorbitant prices, and indifferent service. The«salad bar» is so small and pathetic you wonder why they even bothered. I’m in New London often so I gave it a second try only to find the second time was worse than the first! Go out of your way to avoid this place.

The food was decent enough. A little bit pricey for similar quality to Friendly’s, but the restaurant was clean. The service could have been a bit more attentive. Still, I’d probably go back.

The menu selection is large. The place is very casual. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The salad bar is small and not worth it. I ordered the tuna salad plate. It comes with 2 sides. It was under the section titled salads but was really not a salad. It was a bed of lettuce(uncut) with a few slices of tomato and cucumbers. The tuna was a large scoop on one side and cottage cheese(requested side) on the other. No dressing until after I asked. I had to cut the lettuce attempt to make it into a salad. The chicken blt was extremely large and thick. It comes with chips in a bag. The Cesar salad was the most interesting. It was made with iceberg lettuce. How do you have a Cesar salad with iceberg.

A real, down-home family-owned local spot, with breakfast served everyday until 12pm and solid, affordable, traditional American food. You can’t go wrong with a meal here in the late morning, after a night of drinking beer by the lake and general merrymaking, a good, hearty inexpensive meal to soak up the evening’s drinks. The Eggs MacKenna, their version of a bacon, egg and cheese, comes stuffed with a fried egg, loaded with bacon and cheese, on a thick English muffin, is a great way to start your day fresh.

We eat breakfast at least once every time we come up to the lake and it’s always consistent, good and friendly service. We ate there back on Monday morning. I had 2 eggs(over medium), toast, home fries and blueberry pancakes. My wife had 2 eggs(scrambled), home fries and the home made toast. As we expected the food was good, the only complaint is that the coffee was very weak… It tasted as if they are re-using their grounds. Anyway, it’s cheap pretty good.
