if i could give no stars i would. owner very slow at giving you a simple order, never ready even long after opening. i noticed he eats out the pot here & there w/​his bare hands. arguing & cursing at customer. if you ask for your change i guess he throws a fit or gets rude about it bcs i think he feels he deserves a $ 15 tip. trash on floor in the tiny waiting area. other wrkr saw it was a bother & finally picked it up after abt 5 ppl mentioned it then went to go chop food w/​out a wash or gloves. rude rude rude custom service. when he answers phn owner is nvr professional at all, just plays games, flirts w/​ppl & is really nonchalant abt the care or wait time. deliveries take longer than 2 – 3 hrs even though they say they deliver. owner has really odd ppl coming to talk to him abt shady buisness while serving customers. seems shady & sketchy. makes you wait too long for your food & bothers you if you come in & don’t make conversation w/​him. disrepectful! gives little food for amount paid. very unorganized & messy buisness.

Curry goat is indescribably delicious. The best take out I’ve ever had in my 53 years on earth.
Beef pie is scrumptious. Wish I could bring this place to Texas.

This place is excellent, enthusiastic and interesting conversation. You’ll be happy that you picked it. Unlike some other places, this is a small hole in the wall with great jerk pork and jerk chicken. Eventually I’ll try everything. Better to call ahead so you can make sure they have what your looking for and that they are open. Island time is alive in SECT.

Absolutely worth the waist it takes to make the food. I probably would have never known this place existed if my sister hadn’t brought me but I’m glad to know it exist.

If you have a few minutes before you take the ferry, this is the place to go. Perfectly spiced chunks of boneless pork in the Jerk Pork, along with sides of Rice and Beans and Cabbage. Good beef patties too, if Jerk Seasoning is too spicy for you. Instead of making a left into the ferry parking lot, turn right and this place is 4 blocks up on the left. In and out in 5 minutes for most items on the menu. Some others are cooked to order and take more time.
I only gave it 4 stars because it only takes cash and only does takeout/​delivery. That might put off some Unilocalers. If you don’t have cash, there’s an ATM in the store next door.
The food definitely gets 5 stars, and the owner and cashier were real friendly guys.

****Do NOT be put off by the size/​look of this kitchen and lack of décor**** Now that you’re past that– MAN this food is fantastic! If you were put off by this little corner-​kitchen (takeout only), you’d be missing out on the perfect blending of spices dancing on your tongue as the aroma of this homemade vacation fills the air! I’m currently filling my belly with stewed beef and coconut rice. The beef chunks are nice and tender and hit you with a full mouth of flavor. The rice is lightly coconuty and compliments this dish quite well. I also enjoyed a chicken patty tucked inside a pillow of coco bread. Unfortunately– they had run out of the beef patties, which was my WHOLE reason for going. I never, EVER order chicken anything unless it comes in wing form, lol. That being said– this exceeded my expectations by a mile. I can’t remember if it was a curry or jerk chicken patty for the simple fact that I inhaled it on the way home but I DO remember the creamy, spiciness of it that made me want to immediately order 10 more. I will absolutely be coming back for SURE. If I had to rate this on food alone I would have given it five stars. The young man behind the counter was very nice and made sure to wash his hands before handling anything. Five stars for the food and service!

I know it’s a sort of heresy to say it but I really avoid the displeasing (to me) tastes of «American» food. I think that limiting the spice choices to black pepper or salt really doesn’t do any food justice, and absolutely doesn’t give your taste buds anything to jump for joy about. Jamaican food however, makes your tongue, your nose, and your whole body want to say «Yah Mon! «
Located on a busy street away from most of the downtown food places, Island Touch is truly a spicy oasis away from the ordinary. The restaurant is more of a small shack and is better for takeout or delivery because when we were there we didn’t see any tables.
The owner and chef was super friendly and helped walk us through the menu. I immediately fawned over the plantains, and my husband was thrilled about the variety in spices and selection. We both ended up opting for the jerk, him with pork and me with chicken. We added a side of plantains and the owner threw in a turnover patty on the house.
Food was fall off the bone tender, juicy, and insanely spicy. The owner himself told us that he doesn’t even eat his jerk items because he can’t handle the heat. I however loved it, because it wasn’t just spicy, but beautifully flavored heat with full spices inside the sauce.
Side offerings of beans and rice and cabbage were a little on the boring side in comparison the knockout main course. Plantains were good but I yearned for a little more caramelization on them to bring out the true sweetness. My husband loved the meat turnover and devoured it immediately, but thought the jerk pork was overly hot albeit delicious.
Prices are reasonable for the enormous servings, and I even had delicious leftovers for lunch two days after. Next time I’m going to try the curry and my husband noted he’d probably opt for one of the traditional sandwiches on soft coco bread. An authentic trip to Jamaica in the back yard of New London, with friendly, quick service and great prices.

Just stopping through and wanted to give this a try because of all the reviews. Hands down, the best danged jerk chicken I’ve had in my entire life. Great portions and fast service. Thanks for my favorite dinner in many months!
