Hilby’s

My husband and I went out for a date night to celebrate some fantastic news and enjoy march madness basketball. We chose hilbys because it was a place we have never gone.
The food was ok. Large portions. Delivered very quickly. Drinks were strong.
Service was absolutely horrible. Our waitress had a hate my life hate my job attitude and she appeared to be the only person working. The other (were they servers?) just sort of stood around talking to each other despite the fact that it was rather busy.
It was our first and most likely last visit to this establishment. First impressions stick, and as we walked in the door not one worker gave us eye contact or acknowledged that we were there. Nothing says seat yourself or wait to be seated and when I asked «do we seat ourselves?» The server rudely said if you can find a spot! Without looking at me and she just walked away!
During our meal she never came back to check on us, we had to flag her down when we needed something and at one point someone came up and tried putting a reserved sign on our table and we were told someone else wanted it. It’s a sports bar and we were there because my husband wanted to watch the game. There were other tables open!
She did not ask if we were done just dumped the bill on us and never once asked us if we needed anything else. My husband finally gave up and started going up to the bar for his own beers.
We left feeling very disappointed and strongly suggest management retrain your staff on proper restaurant customer service. The other reviews + mine should tell you something.

The burgers are great, the pizza is pretty good. One star reflects the service. For a place brimming with potential I would think the owner would want the wait staff to reflect better on his business.

Awful food, terrible service. Dont waste your time and money. Its a shame because its a decent location and there isnt many options for dining in the area. Unfortunately the food is not prepared well and the waitstaff is not very friendly or attentive. This place could be a gold mine if it was being run properly.

I really wish there was a
to eat in New London, and I was hoping Hilby’s would be that when it opened. What a disaster this place is! We have been there for the buffet and it’s a joke. There were 3 things on the buffet including salad and it was all old looking. Nothing tasted good at all. Everything tasted like it came out of a freezer. I felt sick after I left there. There are teenagers in the kitchen and the owner is always drunk. Sad. Very sad.

Eatened here several times. Food is okay once it arrives. Server not always very friendly. Prices reasonable. Bar choices limited.
