Update Heating & Air Conditioning

My AC broke these guys came out and recommended I replace the unit. I picked out the unit I wanted and they installed it and broke it while installing it. Not to mention they didn’t even install the unit I selected. When I called them out on it they said they didn’t have the unit I wanted. The price however magically remained the same. Then over the course of two weeks they were out every other day trying to repair the unit without replacing it. The unit was Brand new. They finally got my junk yard unit working but not before damaging my water heater and flooding my basement. Instead of using these guys I recommend throwing a stack of hundreds at any car driving down the street and go sit by your AC or furnace and wait for it to magically be replaced.

Scheduling issues… Horrendous pricing.
1.)Was told between 1−4PM and that I will receive a call 45 minutes ahead of time. My tenant received nothing. This was non emergency
2.)I called in to inquire and they said they will ask the tech to call me when he is on his way.
3.)Again nothing
4.)Later that night I finally get a call when the tech is already there saying that capacitor is broken and that it needs to be swapped.
5.)He said service charge was 95 $. Okay little high compared to other companies but I was okay with it. The next thing the said was the total was $ 373. so basic math tells me that the capacitor was 373 – 95 = $ 278. I am a property manager so this is for a client but I have an engineering degree and I have used a multi meter to fix furnaces and air conditioners before and I told the gentlemen there that that pricing was utterly ridiculous. I have used various companies before that range from 120 $ to 200 $. 350+ was ridiculous. Capacitor takes about five minutes to check and that includes taking the screws off the ac panel. The 35,5,370v can be found locally for 11 $ and online for less than 10 $
I run a business and I understand 200−500% markups but %2500 markup with a slightly higher than average service charge is too over the top. The gentlemen on the phone says all the companies charge that much and that’s just not true. I’m sure your service is great but the scheduling miscommunication and pricing leaves a lot to be desired.

Nice guys that took care of the problem for a reasonable price. Had a little snafu with scheduling, but it was an honest mistake. We will use them again.

After my initial review about the AC installation. I’ve had Update Heating and Air Conditioning install Furnaces in two of my other units, their prices were reasonable and the work, excellent. I have also referred them to my clients and gotten positive feedback. Jason has been great at keeping me informed and outlines options for me in a way that I feel very comfortable.
