Potato Field

I bought loose pistachios in their weighed plastic container, a slice of watermon, and milk. The pistachios were oddly chewy and the watermelon tasted old and weird. The milk was fine. I brought the pistachios and watermelon back the next day. This was my first time returning anything to them. I was apologetic to return anything. The manager acted pissed off and aggressively put the pistachios on the scale and told me I ate some. I ate 2, and a friend ate one. My friend’s response to eating one was, «yeah, you should return these.» She refunded the pistachios but not the watermelon, which one bite was eaten from when I realized it was stale. Poor customer service to the max. Both items were stale and the manager was inappropriate.

It’s a small place so don’t expect much more than the basics for fruits and vegetables. The prices are some of the cheapest around, but the food has a tendency to rot sooner than produce purchased else ware, so don’t buy any fruit or vegetables from there if you don’t plan on eating it within a few days.

If you love great prices for fruits & vegetables this is the place.

Word on the street was that they buy their produce old and can thus afford to sell it cheap (–ish/​-​er). This was confirmed after less than 30 seconds in the store.
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

Forget Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and any other major chain supermarket. Located in New Hyde Park (which is technically Long Island) this family-​owned produce and grocery store carries a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. They also tend to have the cheapest gallons of milk. Though I’m a vegan now, when I needed milk, I’d head there since we Indians consume it by the gallon on a weekly basis.
The prices are great. Cheaper than most.
