BBQ chopped salad was very good. Chicken on it was very tender and good mixed greens. If u don’t like spicy ask them to not put it on the chicken it does have a very good bot to it.

Came here at the boyfriend’s recommendation, and I’m glad we did. There was a little bit of a wait when we got there(around 7pm on a Friday night), but in less than 10 minutes we were able to be seated. Our server, Jennifer, was wonderful. She was so nice and so patient with us. We ordered some fried pickles to start. I was expecting a few fried pickle spears, but we got a full tray of sliced pickles. They were delicious. The food came out very quickly, I was very impressed. I got the pulled pork tacos and they were pretty good. A little wet/drippy, making them a bit difficult to eat, but they were still very yummy. The space is very open, so it can get a bit noisy– I’d say it was about average, considering there was some family dining with small children involved. This is a great place for a date night, catching up with some friends, a family dinner, or dinner/drinks with the co-workers.

Great food! Great spirits! Love coming here. Me and my wife brought with us another couple who was here for the first time. They ordered the tru cue two. Which came with ribs and brisket. The brisket was both moist and smoked to perfection. With a side of Mac and cheese steamed broccoli and a corn muffin topped with honey butter. Will defiantly be coming back and so will the couple that came with us.

I ordered a salad, waitress was very nice but the salad was really bad and I had 2 bites and sent it back she didn’t ask if I wanted anything else and still charged me full price for the salad I didn’t eat, what the fuck? Horrible. Customer service who does that? I left starving

Ugh we tried the BBQ combo and were thoroughly disappointed. We gave you a fair chance Kensington Grill and you always fail. bummer! Ribs — tough and dry. We threw out the second ¼ slab we purchased because we didn’t feel like sawing through the meat and chewing for a half hour! Brisket — fatty and cut wayyyy too thick. If I wanted a brisket steak I would have asked for one! Cornbread — forgotten. It came with the meal but we didn’t get it which was a major bummer because my husband was really looking forward to it. Fries — lacking and soggy. We got like 8 fries and had to throw them in the oven to crisp them up. And they were not good… blehh! Mac n cheese — decent. Cheesy with a kick — hence the one star. The other star was for the friendly service and the good smells. Too bad the food didn’t live up to the smell!

This place has become a must stop after biking or hiking at Kensington Park and the Island lake rec area. Not sure why they call themselves a grill because they seem to specialize in BBQ and do a great job at it. Their pulled pork is always moist with the right amount of smoke, the Brisket is some of the best that I have had. The sides are a bit limited but are very good… especially the Mac and Cheese and BBQ beans. My wife really enjoys their hamburger and old Tavern salad and is addicted to their fried pickles. Solid craft and draft beer selection at some very reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Pleasantly surprised with the pulled pork, mac n cheese and corn bread here! I have put off going here since we often smoke our own meats but this was a nice treat(and less messy!). It was much better than my first dining experience here when they first opened, they seem to have a much more focused menu on bbq and other sandwiches. Service was adequate but nothing outstanding — pretty typical of New Hudson dining. The bar area is nice and they have a decent number of sought after craft beers on tap. Good for groups and people of all ages. Be sure to look in your neighborhood circular for coupons.

Over the past year, we have visited this location a grand total of 3 times. The nice thing about this place is that it has never been busy. We have had no problem getting in and out. It might not be good news for the establishment, but I like restaurants that are not really busy. Our experiences have kind of been all over the board when we have visited. The first time we were here, they were running an amazing wing deal. For a dollar you could get 6 wings and they included both the drumstick and the wing portion. So basically, they were twice the size of a BWW chicken wing. We ended up ordering those and also got some to go. They were delicious wings, but the next time we returned, they no longer have wings. At least I couldn’t find them on the menu. The second time we went, we tried the deep fried pickles with a 50% appetizer Unilocal coupon. They were alright and we sampled some Clam Chowder, which was really salty. We split some pulled pork and beef brisket, which was really tasty, especially with the BBQ sauce options. The onion rings we got on the side were probably the best ones I have ever tasted. Our last visit was just alright, with the onion rings taking a step back and the food we ordered being a little below expectation. Overall, it seems like this place has some good and some not so good. Some of the items seem inconsistent as well. However, it is a pretty good BBQ place, so we will continue to stop by every 2 – 3 months. It is a solid 3 stars and I might even give it 3.5 stars if that was an option. If you have the Unilocal app, definitely take advantage of the coupon that appears upon check in!

So wanted to give this place a chance, because it is an individually owned place, not a chain. But, it continues to be a disaster. Both service and the food. Honestly, Applebee’s is better. That is sad. It smells much better than the food tastes.

So its nice to have another independent restaurant in the area. Its got a good location, replacing a failed Chilis, as an outer lot building in front of a Lowes and Walmart. Its not a far drive for us, and close to the highway — its a convenient place to meet someone coming from Brighten or Howell. I’ve eaten at lunch and dinner — definitely busier at dinner — lunch was more families and kids. It is mostly a BBQ place — they have a couple of non-BBQ items(salad or Fish n Chips, but you go here for the smoked meats. They do Beef, Pork and Chicken — with smoked and pulled options. They do a good job. Prices are about what you expect and portion size is good. They server a good product. The one area I wish they could enhance, being an independent, they lacked any selection of BBQ sauces. They had a mustard vinegar sauce on the table, but nothing else. They could really get into the BBQ sauces and have them available.

I can’t find anything negative to say about this place. It’s clean, the staff is friendly and the food is just plain good. The blue cheese chips are fantastic. They don’t skimp on anything here. Plenty of chips to share with friends, tons of blue cheese and packed with flavor. Pickle chips are fantastic. The batter is light, crunchy and flavorful. The pickle chips are sliced thin. Their not weighed down by the batter. I prefer them with the regular ranch. The pulled pork is really good. It’s juicy, smokey and porky. With the entrée you get corn bread which is very good and two sides. The brisket is tender and has great flavor, never dry. The baked beans are southern style, slow cooked. The Mac and cheese is pretty good, but one of those things you have to decide for yourself. My husband is obsessed with the KG dip and will drink the left over au jus straight from the bowl. The BBQ Ban is the best sandwich I have ever had. Pulled pork, cheese and pickles. You have to try it. You just do. On our most recent visit I had the crispy chicken wrap. Hands down the best wrap I have ever had. It’s obvious they don’t use frozen chicken tenders. The beer batter is crispy and the chicken was juicy and tender. Try Kensington Grill and you won’t be sorry. Sit in Angela’s section for a pleasant meal with great service. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal and get your coupon for 50% off your appetizer. Pickle chips for the win!

I will say that the fried pickles were good, the best chip style fried pickles I’ve ever had… The soup of the day was tomato basil, wife had to special order a grilled cheese, really? A place that is so hip as to serve BBQ across the street from the South Lyon Walmart parking lot can’t muster the American culinary sophistication to offer grilled cheese with tomato soup… The chef must be from overseas. The real treat actually came to me after we left, 24 hours now of diarrhea. Let me explain. See, our table wasn’t very well wiped down and my seat was damp so I figured that when I ordered my cheese burger I’d order it medium. I like them medium rare but I’d never been here so I figured I’d play it safe. Medium, it was lunch hour, chances were that the burger would sit a little longer on the griddle, it would likely be well done… And it may well have been, however the burger I got had the wrong cheese for my burger but the right cheese for the lady sitting next to me. My wife gave me the sage advice to never send food back, it was too late, the waitress caught on. She was very nice, and quickly brought me out another burger. It was rare and now I have a really bad stomach ache and can’t keep food from going right through me. The brisket and ribs are probably awesome… Those cook for like what 6hrs? Should have ordered that, right?

From the outside this place looks like a dumb chain restaurant. Dont be tricked, it is not some cheap chain trash heap. It is way better than you would expect. I am a big fan. Ribs and brisket are my favorites. Good cornbread too.

I haven’t been here in awhile, even though my wife and I have wanted to stop here on several occasions. From what I remember, the costs seem to have come down some and are now on the average side instead of a little high in my view. We found out that before 6pm on weekdays they have half-off appetizers, which is a great deal! $ 4.75(regulardly $ 9.50 of course) for a large plate of nachos with pulled pork, chicken or brisket on it?! Delicious. We tried the chicken fingers($ 4 instead of $ 8), too. They were… different. The chicken used was good, but I wasn’t a fan of the beer batter — it works well on onion rings and fish, but didn’t lend itself well to chicken. Maybe just not my taste, because otherwise it was fried well and tasted good. Finally, we tried a side of sweet potato fries($ 2.50), which were really good. They were cut the same size as standard fries and were nice and crispy with a little taste of cinnamon. I’m looking forward to trying the blue cheese chips and fried pickles next time we stop in. We ordered a little sundae($ 1.50) for our 3-year old daughter at the end, which was much larger than we anticipated! You can tell the ice cream is a cheap brand and the whipped cream is the cheaper canned stuff. But that’s OK, it was a perfectly fair price and did the job — I don’t expect homemade custard at a smokehouse :) Lastly I should mention the two barbecue sauces at our table(I remember there being several more at our last visit?) were good — a mustard based one and a vinegar-tomato based«house» sauce. I liked them both. The only negative I could give this place(I’d have given 4.5 stars instead of 5) is the service. I can totally see other reviewers complaining about spotty service. Ours was friendly but sporadic, which was all-the-more obvious because business was slow when we were there. Oh, and the music playing was actually not annoying!

I have eaten here twice with my wife. Food is «ok». Great if you like smoked meat and maybe pulled pork but I was looking for something more than this at a «grill». I guess it must be a «smokehouse» now which would explain the predominant BBQ offerings. The chili was excellent but the service was below average for a slow evening. I got a combo platter and most of the chicken was dry-brisket good and pulled pork average. I will probably go back as I live in the neighborhood but have found better ribs nearby.

I tried a nearby BBQ place this evening and it made me realize how good Kensington Grill truly is. Their entrees with two sides and cornbread are amazing, I recommend the pulled chicken with house BBQ(it comes on top of crispy Texas toast, so so good). For sides, the mac n cheese can’t be beat, and the cornbread is crumbly with house made honey butter. They have a specialty cocktail menu, all reasonably priced, and there has never been a wait to get a table here. Kensington Grill looks very unassuming from the outside, as a rehabbed Chili’s, but you will find a diamond in the rough on the inside, modernized and serving amazing BBQ. As a side note, the management truly takes recommendations into account and seems to actually care how your experience is, each time.

Just got back from having a great lunch at the Kensington Grill. I had purchased a groupon awhile back and it was going to expire soon. Even if I didn’t have the Groupon, the good food, great service and comfortable restaurant would have made it worth the trip from Canton! My husband and I ended up spliting a combo platter with pulled pork and a quarter chicken. We had coleslaw and fries as our sides and the platter came with a large piece of cornbread. Everything was delicious! My husband wanted the pulled pork, so I had just a small bite of that, but it was really good. Tender and very well smoked. The chicken was tender and delicious as well. I loved the smokiness and the crusty skin of the chicken! The fries were salty(but not overly salty) and cooked perfectly. The coleslaw had a mayo like dressing on it, and was the perfect mix of sweet and sour. The cornbread was the best I had ever had. They have a nice variety of options… burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, appetizers, baby back ribs, pulled pork, chicken, salads and desserts. They have a nice bar and plenty of options to choose from. The only thing keeping me from giving the Kensington Grill a four star review is the sauce. They had four different kinds(house, chipotle, honey and carolina mustard). I didn’t care for any of them. I thought the house was too sweet. The Carolina was ok, but I wouldn’t want to slather it on the meat. I thought the pork and chicken were so delicious, they were fine without sauce! My husband liked the house bbq sauce. I guess it’s just a matter of preference. It’s worth a stop if you are in the area. It’s worth a stop if you aren’t in the area! Cornbread!
