New to Fred’s and we try to go as often as possible. Always early so we’ve never had to wait. We are still working our way thru the menu, so the fifth star will come when we’ve had everything there is to eat. That could take awhile.

Adorable atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Spent less than $ 10 on breakfast and left happy a girl. Can’t wait to go back!

Fred’s is my favorite breakfast place in the country. I love the service there. The food doesn’t need to be talked about. Everything is awesome. Pancakes especially. Everyone needs to stop talking about the key. Yes it opens the door and yes it’s supposed to be private but people open up the door. My only warning, just be prepared to wait anywhere from 15 min to an hour. Rarely can you get in and sit down right away. But it is well worth the wait.

Always a great crowd and fantastic food. A unique, local place that has(mostly) an «exclusive» feel since you are supposed to have one of a limited number of keys to get you in the door. Nevertheless, once you’re in the place, you can get your own coffee — and select your breakfast from a very comprehensive menu with tons of choices. Friendly staff and off-the-beaten-path location make this place one of the top breakfast destinations in Bucks County.

Friendly place, VERY social. Loved it a lot. Would highly recommend. The best parts are the free coffee and the service.

So, my husband and I googled breakfast spots in New Hope while we were visiting from NYC and Fred’s came up as number 1. We walked over and couldn’t figure out where it was exactly. There is no signage and no obvious front door. This should have been our first clue. We walked by a man, very obviously looking lost, and he asked us if we were looking for Fred’s. We said we were and he pointed us in the right direction and we followed him into the restaurant; he held the door open for us. We put our name on the list and waited for a seat at the wrap around counter. There was coffee and tea out for people to drink while we were waiting and we just thought, «oh wow what a nice touch!» This should have been our second clue. We each had some coffee and tea and a few minutes later our name was called. We took our seats at the counter and looked over the menu. The wrap around counter surrounds the grills where all the magic happens so you are right in the hustle and bustle of the whole place. I ordered a waffle with strawberries on top and my husband got french toast. Both were phenomenal. We both split a cinnamon roll. Unreal. While we waiting for our food, we looked over a map and talked about what we were going to do/see for the day. The people next to us overheard us and asked if we were out of town. We said yes and they recommended a few sites to see. We asked if we picked a good breakfast spot and they said yes, and an exclusive one. They explained that this breakfast place is a members only place that can only be accessed by owning a special key fob to get in. We explained we followed someone in and they nodded and told us that happens a lot. They don’t turn people away. And thank goodness they didn’t! This was such an amazing experience. The members only aspect explains the«free» coffee while you wait. It is free for members. We tipped generously because of this. Such a cool experience and a delicious breakfast!

Love this local spot that tourists can not Invade due to the lock system. The service is friendly and inviting with a dollop of love. The food is made with care and is fresh as can be. The pancakes are made with a homemade batter that has a great balance of buttery and moist with a slight crisp. Omelette hit the spot. Coffee is some of the best in the area. Next time I’m ordering French toast or biscuits. They looked so good on other plates. This is easily the best restaurant in New Hope. Great view of the Delaware.

I waited a full year to get a fob. I go yesterday and see an older couple stand at the door looking in, until someone opens the door for them. What’s the point of calling this a breakfast club if anyone can walk in? Do not go on weekends. Waits of an hour, for eggs and toast? It’s overall good. But a recent«donut day» Boston Cream was off — the donut felt oil soaked(from too low an oil temperature), the pastry cream was a bit curdled and under-sweetened, and the chocolate was bitter.

I was really hesitant in doing this review because I really didn’t want anybody else to know about Fred’s and I wanted to keep it a secret all to myself. I know I’m being a little selfish and all. First off Fred’s is a members only breakfast club located in the cute town of new Hope Pennsylvania. I happened to be one of their lucky members. Woot woot To enter Fred’s you must have a key card to unlock the door between the hours of 6AM and 11AM. If it’s after 11AM your out of luck the door automatically locks and too bad for you. I should warn you that Fred’s has some rules. They don’t do grumpy and there’s a bucket outside the front door to deposit the grumpiness in before you enter so come and happy. You can fill your coffee for free and members are welcome to bring anyone to Fred’s whom they wish. Fred’s is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas eve and Christmas Day. Fred’s is the place that you would have to know where to go to find it since there is no sign outside of their establishment. Shhhh it’s a secret hidden gem and if you’re lucky enough to dine here with the member well you’re just lucky enough. Fred’s has an amazing concept of a true dining experience, all the cooking and baking is done in the center with a counter that goes all the way around with 31 barstools. Yes that means only 31 people can’t be seated and eating at the same time so take a seat by the front door after you put your name on the list when you come in next to the host and feel free to get yourself a cup of coffee while you wait with a smile on your face. Now on to the food. The food at Fred’s is out of this world spectacular I just love breakfast and have fell in love with breakfast at Fred’s. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The portions are large where I can only eat half of what they serve. Their eggs Benedict is a must try and don’t forget to try their French toast. Yummy!!! You will definitely leave Fred’s with a smile on your face and satisfied tummy and if you’re not a member by the time you leave you’ll have the urge to become one.

I have now been to Fred’s 5 or 6 times… The make-yourself at home style self-service coffee is a feature(not a defect). The food is incredible — I recommend trying the grilled tomatoes instead of home fries — and try the sausage gravy on their fresh baked biscuits.

Ruth Anne behind the counter and Spencer at the door made our first trip to Fed’s very nice. The egg sandwiches to go came with potatoes — and it was all very good fare. I had the homemade biscuit! Order the tomatoes on the side and you get fat slices of jerseys finest! Free coffee to go with the homemade turnovers and cinamon buns. Great place with great character. Go now!

Best restaurant in town. I stop in whenever I’m in the area visiting my parents. Its members only though! You literally need a key. All the bread and baked goods are made fresh daily and from scratch so don’t go here if you’re trying to stick to your diet!

There’s no reason not to get a membership here, even if you only come once. The cinnamon buns and«while you wait» coffee make it all worthwhile.

I happened to stumble upon Fred’s with my in-laws and fiancé. We arrived in New Hope pretty early and needed a place to grab a reasonable breakfast without the muss and fuss of an overpriced brunch like many of the other spots on Main Street. Cue Unilocal to the rescue. What I didn’t realize is that Fred’s is supposedly a members only breakfast club? Ok? We were able to walk in, since someone opened the door for us(we clearly didn’t have a key fob that you need to open the door being non-member peons). The sea of people waiting to be seated obviously was a good sign. So, we took our chances, put our name on the waiting list and grabbed a cup of coffee. My darling, Anthony, clearly blew up our non-member status when he asked where we pay for the coffee. Turns out it’s free. Oopsies. Anyway, no harm done, the employees were all super friendly about it. We had a bit of a wait but I have to say it was worth it. I had the garden omelette(with egg whites) and got the side of grilled tomato rather than the home fries.(Trying to be healthy after a night of wine and Mexican food .eek!) Everyone else also had some variety of eggs/potatoes which looked great. Stole some of the hubby’s home fries and can confirm they were very good. I would also highly recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice. SO good. The counter only seating is a cool, no frills, concept. I also loved hearing their pooch howl as they sung happy birthday to a fellow member. Definitely a place I would recommend trying if you’re looking for a low key breakfast experience with good food and reasonable prices. If you’re looking for a stuffy brunch where you’re going to pay 17 bucks for eggs benedict, this is not the place. But don’t worry there are plenty on the main strip that will gladly take you’re money. ;)

Fred’s is truly as good as it gets, when it comes to food. Their pancakes are the best I’ve ever had, and everything else is equally top notch. Homemade breads, free coffee and the friendliest staff ever round out this«members only» experience, but they’re so nice inside, I doubt anyone would be excluded. Prepare for a wait, but don’t worry — you’ll have access to the coffee station. Did I mention their pancakes are worth the wait? Because they are. I love Fred’s and will continue to come back again and again!!!

Fred’s is a comfortable and warm setting for breakfast where you’ll feel both at home and like a VIP member of one of New Hope’s best kept secrets. However due to the popularity, the secret is out and the place gets packed. Be early if you don’t want to wait. The food is exceptional, all made from scratch, but big parties have forced me out of there on multiple occasions. I live down the street and frequent Fred’s because of their great service and varietal menu. I am glad to see how much it has grown, but because they are limited to counter seating only(part of it’s charm), party size needs to be regulated or better accommodated. Parties of 6 or 8 can jam up the wait list, when they should simply be divided into multiple smaller groups. The intimate waterfront setting is still worth the wait and the free, self-serve coffee is an appreciated addition for everyone, especially the locals! I recommend The Johnnie and all of their freshly baked breads and pastries.

I went to Fred’s Breakfast when visiting some friends who are members and I was very impressed! I love the concept of needing to be a member to eat here as it makes it feel like a true community. The second you walk in you feel a very homey atmosphere and it also helped that it had a beautiful view of the river and it was snowing outside. Coming from California, I was in heaven. They offer free coffee in real mugs while you wait which adds to the home feel as well. Everyone is seated at a bar around the kitchen where they make the food. This allows the guests to talk with the workers as many of them have known each other for a long time. I’ve never had an experience like this and thought it was really unique. I ordered the two eggs special which came with toast and hashbrowns. The waitress recomended the walnut, cinnamon toast and it was absolutley heavenly. My friend got the banana pancakes which were really good as well! Apparently they are known for their pasteries and desserts such as their cinnabon but I opted not to order it with much regret. Overall, a very cool experience and I hope to come back when visiting my friends in Doylestown again.

After having to wait for over an hour(even though we we told that the wait would be about 40 minutes), the food was mediocre at best. The waffle didn’t look like it was freshly made, and tasted even worse. Since it looked like it was defrosted and barely heated, we asked to have it more crispy, to which we were told that it can’t go back into the waffle iron(I doubt it even saw the waffle iron that day). Totally not worth the wait — I still cannot believe people are willing to stand around that long for sub-par food.

Ok stop the madness! Why are people so obsessed with this place? Because it’s a secret«club»? Ok ok, it’s fun to pour yourself a cup of «free» coffee while you wait, but good luck getting to the coffee station while your bumping into and bouncing off of everyone on your way there. It’s your basic breakfast food. I mean, it’s good and the portions are pretty large, but I don’t leave feeling the immense amount of love everyone else seems to. The biggest issue is that it is always soo packed. We used to go just because we lacked a breakfast place and it was so close, but so many times we have left and went to Dunkin donuts because of the ridiculous wait time.
