Love their veggie plate! The staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate my complicated orders. I recommend it if you’re in new haven and in the mood for some quick food. They’re open late too so that’s a plus !

I used to love this place and would have rated it 5 stars, but it no longer has hot vegetables only cold vegetables which are vinegary and oily tasting. Some of the side toppings are still very good though. I also get an impression that they overworked their best staff people, who have left as a result.

We were wandering the streets of New Haven and weren’t looking for the usual, as we’re trying to eat healthier. Stumbled in here unplanned. Basically a Subway/Chipotle for Mediterranean. That is to say, pick your pita/rice base, choose some protein, and add the good stuff. Sauces, pickled veggies, peppers, hummus, the works. Price was great, food was filling and tasty and the two young ladies working there seemed *invested*! The lamb was delicious and my girlfriends chicken was, too. Not much to say other than that. We do Mediterranean/Middle Eastern once a month or so. It’s not a sit down like Mamoun’s, but for a healthy bite on the run… good call.

This place should be a franchise. Great food, Great service and fast pace working employees. Very friendly and kind. I could literally eat this food all week long. The inside is bright and clean. A variety of food to choose from. But I would always recommend the fresh gyro salad bowls with white sauce.

Meh. Friendly service but food was not up to par. Got the chicken schwarma and grilled veggie salad bowl. The grilled veggies came really cold and the chicken was a little too salty. I asked to try 1 piece of falafel and they happily fried up one for me. The falafel was not too bad, crisp and not overly oily. The toppings were also sub-par; only enjoyed the baba ghanoush out of all of them. I expected more judging from the reviews but was definitely disappointed.

I had an amazing gyro salad topped with creamy tahini, pickles, red cabbage, and fried cauliflower for a reasonable price. I got these funky spiced fries that possibly had cinnamon on them? Or maybe cloves? Don’t judge. It was really, really good y’all. Was disappointed that gyro meat resembled ground beef rather than slices, and my take out was brought without a fork. Minus one star for making me eat salad with my hands like some kind of plebeian slob.

As advertised in the other reviews posted on Unilocal, the food was great and the portions huge. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and patient in explaining how to assemble your order with the multiple choices available. And to top it off the price was great! Definitely calls for a repeat visit in the future.

For pickup food, this is super. Plenty of options to customize: authentic or new age, veggie or carnivore or vegan. All very fresh. Meat is yummy. The winner of the quick bite.

WOW– was looking for a healthy salad and everything was a little pricy in the New Haven area. Did a quick Unilocal search and found this hidden gem!!! Quick, healthy, well priced, packed with flavor, and staff was very friendly… Very happy with my lunch and a definite recommend if you wants lots of flavor packed into a meal. I will keep this on a must visit lost next time in the area…

I’m nursing a food baby from this restaurant, as I write. My experience here was awesome from start to finish which is usually not how I characterize fast food or psuedo-«ethnic cuisine» in New Haven. It’s also a perfect pick for someone with dietary restrictions(even if they’re self inflicted, like mine). Options abound for the gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and vegetarian. The selection is great – chicken shawarma, beef, lamb, the list goes on. The people working here are upbeat and informative. I was unsure about the choices, and the woman behind the counter explained everything flawlessly, including the fact they fry falafel there for you, on the spot! It comes out perfectly crunchy. I would suggest getting every topping possible. I echo other Unilocalers in noting the superiority of the grilled eggplant. I am all about that grilled eggplant. Note: Don’t mistake the eggplant for a bite of animal fat. Because I did that and consequently spit it out. Also note that I shamelessly put it back in my mouth after spitting it out after realizing it wasn’t the animal nastiness I’d assumed it to be. Besides mirroring Chipotle in model, it’s also on the same affordability scale(along with Junzi, Tikkaway, Tomatillo etc). Around $ 10 for a meal that is large enough to last lunch and dinner. I hope you have a refrigerator. Or a giant stomach.

We’ve ordered Pitaziki to work at least a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed. The one time our order was late, I called and they were very apologetic, saying they had 11 orders out and ours should arrive within 10 minutes. Not the usual empty promise from restaurants — it arrived 5 minutes later. They’re very prompt and considerate to dietary restrictions, and the food is just delicious. I would definitely recommend the shawafel, which is a pita stuffed with chicken shawarma and falafel — so you don’t have to choose! Otherwise I go with a rice bowl with falafel and make sure to add the cauliflower. Definitely try this place if you have a hankering for Mediterranean food or want to try something different.

Friendly, efficient, helpful, staff. Had the meat combo platter as it was our first time and wanted to sample a bit of everything. Had the beef and chicken shawarma, hummus, tabouli, cauliflower, pickled beets… was delicious. Came with a yummy warm fluffy pita. Delish In our group we also ordered the falafel, but was so good we got some to go. The chicken shawarma pita, loaded with hummus, veggies and garlic sauce was another hit. Great food priced accordingly. Smiling faces. Clean and bright.

Visited today for lunch. Its been on my ‘places to eat’ now for quite a few months ever since I saw their falafel pita on #cteats. We were down at Ikea this afternoon so the 7 minute drive to Pitaziki was perfect. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I ordered the falafel salad bowl with cauliflower, hummus, marinated onions, chickpea salad, tzatziki & cucumber salad. My boyfriend ordered the steak rice bowl with hot sauce. My salad bowl was extremely bland, as in, no flavor bland(with the exception of the falafel — which were good!). The hummus had no taste, the tzatiki had even less flavor. I never, ever, honestly don’t think I’ve ever added salt to a dish at a restaurant — so this was extremely out of the ordinary for me, but I found myself wishing I had some. For a Mediterranean place to fail at hummus & tzatiki, which are staples, is not a good look. On the bright side, my bf liked his steak and my falafel — so much so that he ordered a side of falafel to go. But I feel like I’d be doing a disservice if I based my rating off of the falafel alone. The rest of my dish kind of ruined it. Other positives as other reviewers have noted, everything was very fresh. Inside was clean. Service was extremely friendly. I see that I’m in the minority here with my review. Not sure what’s up with that. I might return for the falafel, as long as I bring my own salt shaker.

Went to this place again a couple of weeks ago. Man, I was not not disappointed! We have some sort of chicken shawarma with falafel and they put as many toppings as you want. People at the counter are very helpful. When I go to new Haven I like to go to shake shack which is around the corner, however since I found this place, this is my go to spot.

After observing an 8-hr surgery at Yale, my friend and I were HUNGRY. Pitaziki Grill hit the spot. I ordered a falafel pita. The falafel was fried right then and there, and I was allowed to stuff the pita with unlimited, delicious toppings like pickled cabbage, grape leaves, eggplant, cucumber, and then topped with tahini sauce, garlic sauce, and tzakiti sauce. I also ordered the seasoned fries, which were tasty. My friend had the chicken pita, which she thought was delicious as well! Bottom line: This stuffed pita is second only to the falafel pita I used to buy at L’As du Fallalfel in the Marais, Paris. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. The service was a little bit slow, since the falafel was fried to order and there was only 1 person working. We were the only ones in Pitaziki as it was an off time in the afternoon, so I cannot say how crowded or fast the service is at peak times. However, this would not stop me from returning next time I am in New Haven.

I have nothing negative to say about this place. It is bright, simple, and clean inside, and the food is fresh and delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and took the time to explain their menu to me and make recommendations. I had the salad bowl with falafel, which they cooked for me fresh on the spot. They also had a ton of fresh veggie options, which is very exciting for a vegetarian like me. There were also a lot of Turkish and Middle Eastern people eating there, which is always a good sign when at an ethnic restaurant. I will definitely be back!

I’ll be honest: I wasn’t always a fan of Pitaziki. When it first opened, I was kind of skeptical about a Mediterranean Tikkaway place. However, it has DEFINITELY improved over time! I enjoy the rice bowl with chicken shawarma, and sometimes the falafel. Their falafel is EXCELLENT, better than Mamoun’s IMHO. The chicken shawarma is always delightfully juicy and spicy. To top it off, they give you very generous helpings of sides. I usually get the chickpeas, couscous, grapevine leaves, and tzatziki. My meal is always under $ 10, which is very cheap considering the quality and the flavour. I’ve also had their nutella pita, which is great if you ever feel like indulging!

This is where I eat the most often in New Haven, so I thought I should update my review. When I don’t cook, chances are I eat here. After the gym, chances are I eat here(all the protein and veggies and rice anybody can possibly need). As you may have already read, it’s like a Middle-Eastern/North African Chipotle. With the difference that it also makes pizzas(awesome). But it’s the only place where I would eat the ‘secondary’ ingredients by themselves. I mean the falafel and the meat are great. But some of the side stuff, like the roasted eggplants, roasted vegetables, are just so good I would eat them on their own. This is something I don’t think many other places with similar-style service can say. There is attention and care in all the ingredients, and I can tell that everything they do they improve constantly. I remember when they first tried lamb: was a bit dry, but OK, a few weeks later it’s good and soft and I order it every time. The seasoned fries are awesome too, especially if you ask for a side of garlic sauce. The pita is delicious. Also everybody is always super-nice. BONUS: get shawafel pita with lamb, have garlic sauce, white sauce and hot sauce on the thing. Note how your first bite is one of the most amazing bites you’ve ever taken. You’re welcome.

First impression: Clean, simple fast-casual restaurant, super friendly staff! As a first timer, the person behind the counter welcomed me warmly and gave a terrific explanation of the various food choices and how to order. I chose a chicken kabob over rice bowl. From the toppings/finish bar I chose: fatoush, taboule, fried cauliflower, pickled cucumber, feta, hummus and some garlic sauce in the side. Yum! Food was fresh and tasty. I’m loving that more ethnic varieties of foods are exploring the create-your-own meal style as some popular fast-casual chains. Having new, reasonably priced options like this on my 10-day trip made eating out day-after-day much more enjoyable. If I lived in the area I’d definitely be back to try different offerings and styles of putting together a meal. My son chose the chicken shawarma, also over rice. He’s pickier so ordered less from the«toppings/finish» bar. He thought his food was fantastic and was sad he became full before finishing! Great experience — well worth a visit!
