We are very disappointed in Next Step living. They broke the hinge on our attic ladder and then sealed the door shut with joint compound. We are selling our home and have been given a run around to fix the damage.

We’ve had a number of projects completed by NSL. Here is my take from the work they have done, which has included insulation, an energy assessment, and replacement windows. Energy Assessment: Pros: The crew that came in was excellent and very professional. The work they did was quick and basically paid for itself after the replacement lights were installed. Our home was considerably warmer just from their visit and it was inexpensive to have them come. Cons: The EA is a sales pitch for other services, which I felt was a very hard sell. Our home is older, so they didn’t have to try quite so hard to get us on board. Insulation: Pros: Work was very inexpensive and rebates were large. Work done made significant impact immediately and didn’t take long to install. We had both traditional fiberglass and blown-in insulation. Cons: One of the big selling points the EA made was that they do all the work themselves. This work was farmed out to a subcontractor. While the work was good, it was not the same level as other services NSL does directly, although they did have a supervisor come out and check everything before the team left. Windows: Pros: We had all our living space windows replaced and I cannot tell you how amazing these windows are! You definitely get what you pay for. The quality of the product and the team that installed them was incredible. We also had some issues locking the windows after the summer and the windows team made a quick visit to help us out. They really stand by their work. Cons: The windows are expensive and they do not offer gimmicky sales to get you to buy more. For us, we had some issues with specific features we wanted the windows to include(full screens), which was a special order. They aren’t great about deviations and the rebate process required some major prompting, but overall not a negative experience. All of the windows are custom made, so things will take time and the summer is super busy for them. Thankfully the mistakes we had were fixed prior to installation and were only annoying because of the wait. Personally I’d rather wait than have the wrong thing installed anyway. This is a growing company that offers a lot of services. I would recommend them for any of the services that we used and if our oil bill is any proof the windows and insulation were definitely worth what we paid. I would also like to add that any problem that we had with this company was eventually fixed, even if it did require some prompting. Everyone that I’ve worked or spoken with has always been very professional
