I went into the Fireside grill and and I was with my friend we both ordered a drink he had a beer I had a Malibu Bay Breeze okay so then we will ordered the French onion soup. I ordered which was a supposed to be on the special the kielbasa sandwich with sauerkraut and cheddar on a fresh roll and my friend has a cheeseburger quesadilla when the French onion soup came it was tremendous okay it came this is where went downhill on the kielbasa sandwich special was horrible um hardly any meat I have to ask for sauerkraut because the sauerkraut I couldn’t find it on the sandwich and the cheese it was like I’ll plastic cheddar cheese so i asked her is this really supposed to be like this she the bartender who took out order said yup. My friends cheeseburger quesadilla was delicious we chatted bought another round of drinks and i left having to stop at home to eat something hummm not cool anyways I will just stick with a burger there

Loved this place, did some drywall work down here back in 2007 for a bit and used to frequent this bar often. The bartenders were kick ass and so were a few of the regulars! Made lots of friends and memories! Food was great also! Was just thinking about the good times and decided to look it up and glad to see that it’s still open! Would like to revisit sometime in the future.

Food: The food is pretty good for bar food. Service: The people that work there are pretty good at multitasking. Enviornment: Dangerous. This spot can get a bit tricky after dark. Be careful. Cost: Very good. I wouldn’t reccomend going here if you’re not street smart. Sometimes some shifty people there.

This place is a big-time dive bar– been coming here for over 10 years. What will surprise you is the food served here is tasty! I have not gotten one bad meal yet. The portions are hefty and the menu has great choices and then they have their daily specials which are extensive! I love it– the more choices the better! The place is loud and sometime obnoxious and you will know exactly who the regulars are. If you are in the area and want some good food– stop in and give it a try.

This place will surprise you! We moved to Woodward Ave. last year after living in East Rock for several years. We really missed being able to walk to bars/restaurants, so we decided to give the Fireside a shot, even though it looks a little scary from the outside. But when you walk in, it’s just a regular, neighborhood, welcoming sports bar! Decent beer selection, nice waitresses, lots of big flat screens for watching games, and a diverse crowd where anyone can fit in and feel comfortable. But the biggest surprise is the food. Seriously, their wings are some of the best I have ever had, and my fiancée is obsessed with wings so we have tried them all around the New Haven area. These wings are easily in competition with Archie Moore’s! We’ve also tried their sandwiches and salads, which are way better than they really need to be considering most people probably just come here for beer and appetizers. So if you’re looking for a place in this neighborhood… give the Fireside a try, you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Update — the last couple of times we came here, the food was NOT as good as the first several visits. Definitely seems to be going downhill in the food department which makes me sad because this place was always reliable! I ordered a cobb salad and there was no avocado on it, and they didn’t even put tomatoes. Just 2 of the main ingredients of a cobb salad(you can laugh about ordering a salad at a bar, but seriously this place used to make the BEST salads ever. you will understand if you’ve ever ordered this here!) and I wasn’t informed that they had run out of these things when I ordered. The people I was with had different things missing from their orders as well. Wings, drinks and service were all still good, but I’m sad that my favorite salad is no more :-(I know it’s just a bar and you shouldn’t expect much, but the food was what made this place stand out before!

This is not a restaurant… this is a straight dive bar. As far as dives go it’s ok… though beers are overpriced. The DJ who is there on Friday nights(at least on 10⁄5 when I was there) is horrible. If you’re in walking distance I guess it’s not a bad place. If you are considering driving here… think twice. You’re better off buying some alcohol for home and drinking it there.

The fried calamari special was slightly less crispy than ideal, and the patty melt was decent. The cheap beer selection, however, is spectacular — fans of generic domestics and malt liquor will be in heaven. The crowd was a slight step above that from Jersey Shore, but who’s to judge? The waitress was fun and I wouldn’t mind going back one night after a really shitty day in order to get hammered and have her wait on me again, and ideally, the DJ won’t play any more of that Nickelback /Staind /generic rock crap that rots human ears.

Neighborhood bar with lots of TV’s. Surprisingly good food for a pub, not just burgers and fries. One time I had steak topped with lobster and cream sauce, this week I had a portobello and spinach panini. When do you find a rowdy bar with a chef in the back? Not often. If you don’t mind the noise, the food is great. If you want to have a good time with some friends, toss back some beers and have some good food, this is the place.

Serve Karma tequila and Shock Top beer. The fried mozz and calamari are awesome. Great place to watch the games on a Sunday. Waitresses walked around with free shots of Karma… Great great place. Very surprised!!!

Every once in a while I do some promotional modeling for alcoholic beverages for some extra cash and that’s what brought me to Fireside. And even though I was promoting an awful shot, everyone at the bar was a really good sport and even bought us a few rounds. The drinks were great and so were the nachos. The owner gave us a little lasagna too, and that was absolutely delicious. I’d like to go back again sometime when I can really enjoy it, although the crowd may not really be my style outside of work.
