With so many excellent tex mex restaurants in the Utica area, I figured Burrito Blues would give some fierce competition. Not so. The restaurant seems perpetually deserted, and I’m sure it’s due to their food, not cleanliness. The restaurant is clean, but their food… Well isn’t tex mex supposed to be flavorful? Relatively spicy? Fresh tasting? Burrito Blues is none of these things. I have never tasted more bland food in my life. EVERYVEGETABLECOMESFROM A CAN… Disgusting! Not fresh!

I just moved here from Philly and was in the mood for a mission hill style burrito. I decided to give this place a chance and all I can say is that you know a burrito place is bad when the most flavorful thing inside it is the sour cream. Looks like I need to keep searching. =\

Terrible. Taco Bell is better.

This is the closest thing to an authentic burrito we’ve found in CNY. The Italian influence is minimal and the seasonings are pretty authentic. Portions are generous. The staff is friendly and helpful. We go back again and again.

So, I’m lowcarbing but I was really missing my burrito fix. I go to burrito blues and start describing what I want him to make and the gentleman says«You’d like a burrito bowl?» Me: YES! That would be perfect(feeling a little silly for my long winded explanation). Hooray for knowing what a burrito bowl is!!! It’s such a pain to go places where they give you a blank stare when you ask for something without the bun.
