Blue Salon & Spa is absolutely great! I’ve been going there for two years now and I wouldn’t go anywheres else! It’s a friendly, relaxing environment. If you happen to stop by ask for Sarah D. she’s great! I go to her every time she’s very sweet!

I was in the area recently for a wedding and needed a haircut to be a groomsman(according to the bride). I was worried because I have a guy already and particular style with short hair on the sides and back with extra long hair up top. I tried to communicate this style the best that I could and the haircut came out perfect. So for men, I can recommend this place especially if you have a bridezilla on your back. :)

I went to this spa once several months ago and had a fabulous experience. At the time I was given a card that if I bring a friend, we both get $ 15 off. I called at 12pm when the location opened on Sunday, and scheduled an appointment for both my husband and myself at 2:30. We arrived promptly at 2:30. Sarah, the stylist I had seen previously and scheduled with today, appeared surprised to see us and confirmed that we had an appointment. She had a customer that she was currently working with and told us it would be a 20 minute wait, that we could sit there or walk around Kohl’s. We went for a walk to Kohl’s then returned at 2:50. She did not acknowledge that we had returned. At 3:10 we left and I did not receive a call or any form of contact. Conclusion: The spa has poor time management coordination. If an appointment has been made, the stylist SHOULD be sure to be available to that customer at the agreed time. That’s not the case here. We went across the street to the Master Cuts and had a far better experience. At least they acknowledged us.

My hair is gray; so I have it colored and hilighted. Since I am in the area for an extended time I decided to try Blue Salon, based on a recommendation. Very disappointed. I explained clearly that I wanted my new growth(gray) blended in, in a way that would look natural — nothing too dramatic — no chunky hi-lights. I even referred to the person’s hair color who made the recommendation, and made sure I booked the appointment with the same colorist, so she would have the idea. I told her that normally I get low lights and hi-lights. She said she was only going to hi-light my grays and that if that did not cover enough she could go back in. That should have been a red flag right then and there. But with the foils already in the works I felt I was at her mercy to get it right somehow. Mid-way through the coloring she explained that sometimes the white hair ends up turning violet with this product. WHAT?!! She actually said this. So this made me very anxious, but I kept my cool. After she rinsed it however, I looked in the mirror and the part going down the side was as white as ever, making me look like I was going bald. NOGOOD! Then she decided to touch it up. By now I figure she was tired, even though I was her first appointment of the day(and the only customer the entire 4 hours it took her to work on my hair). She ended up painting the touch up with broad strokes — nothing creative, nothing subtle — so it ended up looking like matte color without any definition. I have done better with emergency package treatments, myself. She claimed she was giving me a complimentary conditioning treatment, presumably for her mistake. Well of course, 2 days later and my hair is duller than dirty dishwater. Another red flag — she kept talking about how much better the south was — how much friendlier it was, and how New Yorkers are«grumpy» and she does not like the area. NOWONDERTHEYAREGRUMPY! She also gave herself away when she said that 5th graders in Alabama are given Spelling tests with words consisting of 5 or 6 letters, and explained how hard it was when she moved here because the words were so much bigger. Could this explain a struggle to learn the chemical terms at cosmetology school? I assume she received her hair coloring certification, but surely something is/was missing. The salon’s advertising claims it sells experience, not service — PLEASE! Be clear– not necessarily good experiences either, right? I guess I was so anxious and happy to get out of there finally, that I paid and tipped. By the time I got home however, I determined that I really regretted my «experience». $ 145 + a tip(I was still in shock I suppose and not clearly thinking) and 4 hours later for one of the worst hair«experiences» in my life. I hope the owners of this salon are reading. Interestingly, she told me their names even though I did not ask — ahh, the simpllicity of it all. If they are reading they should send me a refund. Seriously, that would demonstrate that they SINCERELY care about their customers’ «experience».

I went here because I needed a massage pronto. I had hurt my back badly years ago and my fiancé literally had to carry me into the spa. I had my first massage with Harmony. She was wonderful. I walked out of the spa in one piece and the feeling of throwing up had vanished. I would certainly recommend her to a girlfriend, as she only will work on women.
