Great place to stop and walk around. Good portions that taste fresh. Simple menu, but very good. Dessert was off, but charming place. Facilities very clean.

We stopped here for a repeat visit, after another nice walk in the park. This time we had lunch. Fairly simple menu, but the salads we got seemed fresh and were enjoyable. This is a cozy little café and coffee shop with a small outdoor garden eating area, as well as indoor. Nice peaceful ambience. A pleasant stop for a drink, snack or light lunch when in Old New Castle.

Cute cozy little coffee shop. Very friendly staff. Visiting new castle historical downton and came in for a light lunch bite due to lack of restaurants in the surrounding walking area. Their secret garden is perfect for a sunny afternoon break after a walk along the water.

This is a wonderful little coffee shop. Beautiful little hole in the wall type place. Lived here about 6 months and went to the post office weekly and never had a clue it was a block further. Very cosy, friendly and at 3:45 on a Saturday a very nice quiet place to do your homework or study. Mocha was delicious(a tad more foam than I usually like but I probably drink coffee wrong anyways since I enjoy wawa coffee too!) I got a bagel with cream cheese and a regular drip coffee after and they allow unlimited large coffee refills in house. Hard to beat friendly staff, quaint building and location, good prices and coffee and live events during the weekends. Definitely come take a look and get a tasty treat!(PS drip coffee today is Dark Chocolate! So good!)

Very nice coffee shop buried down an alleyway in Historic Newcastle. Coffee was very good. Definitely not a burned coffee Starbucks type of coffeehouse. Pastries are also quite good. If you order hot food from the menu be aware that it will be cooked/reheated in a microwave. My egg sandwich was okay, but disappointing due to the microwaving. The soup had an undertone that wasn’t to my taste.

Came in today(1÷13÷16) and explained how I was unable to redeem the Unilocal offer when I was previously here. Selene listened to me, and got me my free coffee! She was very attentive and I am happy with the turnout and customer service/appreciation. Thanks Selene!

Came for coffee. Found unorganized staff, who had their best friend, the microwave, working overtime. All the«baked» goods were plastic wrapped like they’d been ordered from the food rep, portioned, frozen and then pulled and thawed as needed. Not good. Our cappuccinos came with a 30 second jolt in the microwave. why?! If they use an espresso machine, they should be brewed fresh/hot. Another historic new castle establishment, taking advantage of the lack of competition around.

Very quite, off the beaten path treasure. The outside dining area is perfect for enjoying a beer or glass of wine on a summer night. Will be going back very soon.

The cutest little place! Five stars for its charm and the friendliest baristas + owners. It definitely has that hidden gem feel. We stop in here between meetings occasionally to grab a sandwich, coffee, and a couple hours of work. This place is more about the atmosphere and the charm than anything — simple food(I recommend the curry chicken salad), simple/decent coffee(this isn’t some hipster artisanal coffee shop). The daily locals give us the perfect amount of ‘grief’ for having our laptops out — but they’re totally justified and totally friendly as soon as you smile and say hello :)

This place is so charming! My husband and I only got coffees before taking a morning walk in battery park, but they were great. The staff is very nice and helpful. Towards the front and upstairs is where they have artist display merchandise to purchase. The history here is great from the building to the area. The back garden for sitting is beautiful! We will be back again to see live music or for scrabble once we are in town again.

Really cute café in old town New Castle. A variety of beverage and food options for all meals of the day. They have a liquor license so they also serve wine and beer. Very cool! Have not eaten here yet but I am in love with this place already. Cozy inside and has a nice outside patio where they sometimes host live music and entertainment. Free WiFi also. All around great spot!

Great place to discover in a beautiful setting. Charming indoor and outdoor area. Very nice servers though it seemed the heat of the day was affecting the mood of one of them(making me intimated to bring up some concerns I had). Cream that was at self service station clumped in my tea and I requested fresher cream and handling of food was done without gloves(a bit tricky for someone with an autoimmune condition). Handling of beverage was not careful and server was touching the rim where I would drink and for someone like me this is a bit tricky. I was unable to connect to WiFi though we tried multiple times. The really nice server was unfamiliar with Unilocal and the Checkin coupon for a free coffee and was unable to honor the promotion. For these variety of reasons this review gets 2 stars but overall a super find in a lovely historic area!

I have been visiting Trader’s Cove for several years whenever driving from home to or from Baltimore where I was born and raised. The food is consistently tasty and the people including Esther and Matt are always helpful in making sure that everything is okay. They have jigsaw puzzles which you can work on, or wifi if you prefer, and since there are many locals who eat here they always have an interesting update on what is going on in the town. If you prefer to be outside, there are several tables in the back patio where you can relax and take as long as you want. There are periodic musical events and other scheduled live performers in a large enclosed room past the patio, usually on Saturday evenings. If you like handmade crafts, go upstairs and you will find several local artisans and their works for sale at reasonable prices.

Wonderful people, beautiful building, and amazing coffee! What more do you need? The owners are awesome people. A glass of wine in their garden is a great way to spend a summer day. And a cup of hot chocolate after visiting their shops is becoming a Christmas tradition for me. It’s the perfect way to shop local!

What a great little find! We were traveling in the area for a family visit. Being from Boston, we are used to being able to find artisan coffee, food, you name it, without much effort. And, most importantly, we try to avoid chains. Looking at Unilocal, this place didn’t stand out. But it should have! Nestled down a quaint alley in old New Castle, the coffee house has a rustic charm with modern amenities. The coffee was good, wifi strong and seating comfortable. I gave it four stars only because the coffee was cold from sitting too long. They gladly allowed me to dump it and get some from the new pot, but had I been getting coffee to go, I would have just had a subpar brew. Overall, we were happy with the experience, ambience and staff. Definitely a great place to take a break.

Nice place. They offer salads, sandwiches, a few few hot dishes(like quiche), and good pastries. There’s a pretty garden out back that’s perfect in good weather. But beware: the people who take your order also have to make the food, so it can take a LOOONGTIME even to get to the front if the line to place your order – especially if the person ahead of you is a fusspot.(«Could I have a little more foam? No, a little less than that. Could you put some chocolate shavings on it?»)

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Trader’s Cove yet. I’ve been coming here since 2011 and can’t say enough good things about it. The owners, Esther and Matthew, really go the extra mile to make their customers happy… and that goes for the baristas, as well. I can’t think of a more perfect summer afternoon than strolling around Old New Castle and enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the Secret Garden. It’s really cool that the house also contains local artisans’ shops, as well as massage therapy and tarot readings. A really cool and unique place.
