Decent BBQ if you can get it fresh off the grill. I ordered pulled BBQ chicken and person behind the counter who prepared my sandwich microwaved the meat and the roll was stale and hard as a rock. No beans or slaw or greens or mac-n-cheese was offered(I’d have paid). Other BBQ items are pretty good, but it’s definitely not a destination type of place if you know what I mean. With the popularity of BBQ growing and new places popping up, they need to step up their game. That’s not to say I won’t give them another try, but I have low expectations. I’m thinking ribs or chicken fresh off the grill next time.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The older couple who worked there were nice enough, however the food was HORRIBLE. What makes it worst was in addition to being inedible(I could only eat the potato salad) they’re also horribly overpriced. My boyfriend ordered chicken wings that tasted like they had been in a fridge and warmed in a microwave multiple times. His greens had 90% juice and 10% greens, not to mention the macaroni which for some reason I suspect was made with some leftover shredded mozzarella cheese and a whole lot of black pepper. I only got sides and out of the four I ordered only the potato salad was edible, the yams tasted like they’d sat out all day and were dry with a faint taste that I can’t put my finger on, almost like they used sweetener and low fat syrup on the yams. It was overall a huge let down and I will never be back.

This little Mom and Pop bbq is the last of a dying breed. The food is good, made to order and with that down home true country feeling. The people are nice, the pit is always smoking and it’s one of those places that makes you just feed comfortable.

Walked into the restaurant on New Castle Avenue and the gentleman at the counter was eating and continued to do so while we looked at the menu. I understand everyone has to eat but in front of customers is unacceptable. I ordered a fish shrimp and fries special and my brother ordered hot wings. The portions are very small for $ 7 I expected more food. The quality of the food was disappointing. It taste like the food was cooked in old grease. 4 small hot wings for $ 6.50… what? To top it off the wings were not even spicy. Will not be returning or recommending.

Found them set up with their smoker on Route 13 between Wilmington University and Pep Boys. We wanted to try a wide sample — because we are BBQ people — so we ordered the ribs, chicken and brisket. And that’s all we could order — except for pulled pork. No sides, drinks or desserts were available. The ribs were«good» bordering on «very good.» The grill master warned the customer before me that the«hot» BBQ sauce was really hot, so the other customer and I both opted for the«mild.» It looks like they make their own sauce, and it’s pretty good. It’s tasty with a little heat on the back end. My only complaints are it could be a little thicker and they should offer small cups for those times you want the food wet. Or in the case if the brisket, some sauce at all. As for the ribs, they were meaty, nicely trimmed and almost perfectly done — the meat still had a little pull to it, which is what you want, but a few were just a little past perfect. They were still moist, so not too terribly overdone. BUT. $ 30 a rack? Too expensive for what they are. The highlight of the meal was the chicken. Tasty and moist, but more BBQ sauce was needed. And $ 9 for a half chicken works out to $ 18 for a whole bird. Wow. That’s some sweet profit. One of my favorite meats is brisket when done well. This wasn’t done well. It doesn’t seem to have been trimmed at all. It had the consistency of fatty pot roast, which means slices were out of the question. $ 7 buys you a tiny cup of brisket clumps. By time, I mean not much bigger than a Dixie cup. And a couple slices of white bread in a Baggie. The old guy cooking was really nice. That keeps the score from being lower. It actually buys them an extra star. Last suggestion? How about a cooler with cold sides. Potato salad? Macaroni salad? Macaroni and cheese could be kept warm on the grill. And no self respecting pit master should ever offer pulled pork without a decent, creamy cole slaw.

Best deal in town. Authentic to the core. I had ribs and fried fish. Collard greens and Mac n cheese. Must try
