BJ’s Wholesale Club

This BJ’s if my favorite location. The store is always well maintained and they always have what I’m looking for in stock. The only draw back is the long lines. It seems no matter what time of day or evening that I shop, there is a long wait.

BJs happens to be right between my home and work so it is super convenient. My family can easily go through 3 – 4 gallons of milk a week and BJs is by far the cheapest milk around-​when the fridge is stocked. They have a decent array of fruits and veggies at better prices than Acme. What I don’t like are the long lines and waiting in a line to have my cart checked before leaving the store. The area is also a bit unsafe.

My opinion on warehouse clubs runs counter to most. I don’t think they live up to their hype. If you absolutely must have brand name groceries, then yes, buying in bulk at a warehouse club will save money. If you don’t care about brand names, then the store brand at a regular supermarket will often beat the name brand at a warehouse club and you won’t even have to buy in bulk. Also, if you use coupons, buying in bulk is actually a handicap. You can use more coupons by purchasing multiple items in smaller sizes than one item in bulk size.
The reason I signed up for a trial membership at this BJ’s Wholesale is I noticed that their gas prices were the lowest in the area, 2 cents/​gallon below Wawa’s gas prices. So I figured if I might as well take them up on their offer of a free trial membership for immediate savings on gas. However, I did take a look around in the store too. Their milk and lettuce were cheaper than just about anywhere else.
Their biggest downside is the long wait at checkout. There weren’t enough registers open this afternoon and with the typical customer buying a truckload of groceries, it can take quite a while to get them all through the line.

they never have enough cashiers to prevent the very long check out lines. also, you will need to wait in yet another line to have your receipt and cart contents checked before exiting.
