i walked into the store, the prices seamed high, I will probably won’t shop there I think there is better wine shops in new cannan.

I have been a customer of this shop since its opening. I have attended many excellent wine tastings and purchased many wines for my personal use and as gifts. Last week i opened a bottle purchased a year and a half ago at a wine tasting. I expected to fully enjoy the wine. It was awful, not sure why although i believe it had just soured despite being cellared at the proper temperature. I brought the wine back to the store and asked the owner to sample the wine and advise what happened to it. He said«you expect me to taste bad wine?» It was his wine after all. His response left me speechless. He was snippy and said he was not responsible for what happens to the wine once it leaves his shop. I fully expected him to replace the bottle without my needing to make the request. I have never returned any bottles to him and now wonder about the bottles purchased and not yet opened. I will never purchase wine from this shop again. To treat a long term customer in such an arrogant rude manner is beyond belief. There is plenty of competition in this town and i will only shop in those places that value my business. I would advise others to do the same.

Gotta question Unilocal’s editing of of reviews. FOUREXCELLENTREVIEWS of this local independent, family-owned business are at the bottom and Unilocal says they«are not recommended.» Makes me discount the value of this app. Is it an open forum or not? Apparently not. Does the store need to be a paid advertiser on Unilocal to have good reviews show up? A friendly greeting, unpretentious and knowledgeable employees, great selections at all price points. What am I missing?

when it comes to customer service, this company needs a HUGE wake up call! I place on order on a given friday and then send three emails from then till the following Tuesday with no responses??? so i then, call i get some guy on the phone who sounded like he was drinking telling me that my order was not available(which i needed for the weekend) and that he «thought someone emailed me?». GREATWAYTORUN A BUSINESS, I SAY If any need a place to buy great wine/experience great customer service /great shipping prices /great selection… email me. i will tell you of company where i ordered from(same wine) that received my order that friday(same as new canaan wine merchants) and shipped Monday. oh yes, they emailed twice before that monday informing me that my order was received. That is GREATSERVICE! New Canaan Wines… very SAD service

one star is too high. The owner is nasty and makes you feel like he is the king of wine. Only will talk if your buying for your cellar. Very poor customer service and talks down to everyone. High prices more wood than wine dont bother shopping this store.
