Customer service is sub par. The person I spoke with on the phone, who I believe was the owner based on other reviews, was aloof and condescending. Instead of offering recommendations on bikes that they had in stock, he asked where I was calling from and suggested to go to my local bike store instead(even though I live 20 min from New Canaan). His attitude came off as if I(a potential customer) was bothering him by asking about their bike stock. Very disappointing.

Hmmmmmmm, It’s funny, the ONE negative review from a so called avid cyclist has only reviews of restaurants… clearly Lou did not have free donuts for this individual that day. At any rate. I had recently made a major purchase. 2013 Litespeed c3… and the service was phenomenal!!! To say the least!!! And if you visit the shop and do not agree. Then you should save your money and hire a therapist…

As casual cyclists, my wife and I felt it was time to get really good-fitting helmets, update the lighting on our bikes after seeing the visibility of cyclists who had LED lights, and to get advice on a bicycle rack for our car. Chad and Lou were very helpful and very friendly. Some years ago, at a different shop(now out of business), I was treated with diffidence because I wasn’t there to spend several thousands on a bike. At New Canaan Bicycles, the staff took the time to make sure we got the proper equipment, particularly the helmets, and to answer our questions. They examined our car to determine the best bicycle rack. We had a little trouble finding the shop because although the address is 96 Park St. in New Canaan, the shop doesn’t actually face Park St. but faces the parking lot behind the stores that front Park Street. Entrance to that parking lot isn’t too visible, either. The sloping driveway to the lot is on the north side of Cherry Street between Park St. and South Ave.

Precision, friendly service at a fair price. Lou is a true bike guru who goes the distance to assure you’re happy. Plus he will pick up your bike, fix it and then deliver it back to you! A great bike service that also offers house calls?!? Fantastic!

Planning a long tour in Europe, my wife and I came in for parts and spares. Friendly, excellent service and expertise, and accomplishing what we found impossible: loosening pedals that had been tightened beyond hope during original assembly. These guys have the tools & the know-how. Very satisfied.

I don’t think I have ever found a more rude, obnoxious business owner than this guy. Just awful. Being an avid bicyclist, and being in many, many shops around the Fairfield County area, I can honestly say this place was the worst. Do yourself a favor, if your in the New Canaan area and need a bike shop, go ANYWHERE else. I’d rather deal with a sporting goods department store clerk before setting foot in this place.

I highly recommend working with Lou, as he always takes care of my equipment in short time. My equipment is very unique and he handles the rare and complex parts with ease. He not only fixes my «highly unique» equipment in a timely fashion, but he shows me how he does it and I learn so much from his hands-on approach and thorough explanations.

Cycles on Call is a great place for tuning your bike or for any of your cycling needs. Lou, the owner, is so very kind and helpful. We needed to ship a road bike back to California and he assisted us with the entire process. Lou also runs a tour company in the area if you need someone to show you around. Lastly, Cycles on Call lives up to its name. Lou will pick up your bike– road or mountain– perform the needed maintenance and drop it back off to you. What convenience! We’ll always remember Lou’s hospitality while we were in CT. –carina and dan
