Best place within the 90 miles to get a sandwich. Open seasonally? Authentic Jersey style subs and meats.

I have no idea why ppl would give this place a four star average. In the name it says bakery, so we went in to get baked goods, with no such luck. They had a little pastry case with not one bakery item for sale. We asked the employee if they had bakery items to which he responded, «yea, no we don’t have anything like that. All we have are some cookies and brownies.» Since that’s not what we were looking for, and even if it was, these cookies and brownies were apparently put up for the evening. The employee did tell us to have a good night as we left.

When my wife and I first went to New Buffalo, she wanted to check out this place because it boasted New Jersey-style subs. Being from New Jersey, she needed to see how true that was. Her verdict? PERFECT. Probably because the owner/founder is a Jersey native. The lady at the counter told us that one time someone came in and asked for things on the sub like olives and such, and the owner’s response: «You want THAT crap on your sandwich? There’s a Subway down the street.» And the subs are really good here. The lady at the counter is also very friendly, so that helps. My wife and I are Oink’s fans, though, so I can’t comment on the desserts here. But if you want a really good sandwich that will stick to the ribs, please, stop in!

We all liked the subs and especially the meats on them. The meats had a really good spice and flavor to them without being overly spicy. All cold cuts on french bread. The potato salad was delicious too. The price was kind of high at $ 6 for a 6 inch and $ 11 for a foot long.

The baked goods from this shop are the best in the area. Everything I have purchased from here I have enjoyed… always fresh and reasonably priced. Even though I live in Michigan City it is worth drive at least once a week. There are 2 cakes I frequently buy for occasions and they are consistently high quality, and never too sweet.

This is not a review of the sub shop. It’s a review of the ice cream place housed in the shop, called Moo’s(an «affordable» ice cream stop serving Hershey’s brand ice cream and located practically across the street from Oink’s). I think Oink’s is over-priced and the hype is over-blown, so I really wanted to like Moo’s. It wasn’t really anything special EXCEPT that they served Superman ice cream, which I most definitely got and enjoyed. Justin really enjoyed the vanilla cone he had and for two big, one-scoop cones, we paid $ 6. Not exactly a terrible price, but not spectacularly«affordable» as their sign says. The whole place could be summed up as «fine” – service was fine, setting was fine, prices were fine. Superman ice cream was super indeed and I would go back for that, but I’m not going to make any special trips unless I’ve got a craving. Or I just feel like stickin’ it to Oink’s.
