Incredible food. Beautiful patio. Great service. The bakery could feed us all week! Must do. Definite return

We tried Jackie’s for lunch on a busy Saturday. There were seven of us, including three little kids. Because there was a wait for a table, we opted for take out(around back) instead. Jackie came out to take our order and, despite the restaurant being extremely busy, was very kind and accommodating. She offered to make anything for the kids that wasn’t on the menu and gave us a delicious(free) cookie while we decided on our order. Everything we got – tomato soup, kale and quinoa salad, a turkey sandwich, and Ahi tuna with noodles – was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

Cute & local. Food utilized higher than expected quality ingredients, including organic produce for most dishes and organic, tasty coffee. I got the eggs benedict and my husband got the buffalo bills dish for breakfast. Both tasted great. In particular, we loved the citrus notes in the hollandaise sauce and the crisp of the hash browns.

Delicious & Fresh! Random find on the way home from a Wedding in SE Michigan. We had a group of 6 on a beautiful day and sat on the patio. Extremely clean restaurant! I was really impressed at the cleanliness of the overall restaurant, bathrooms, and dishes. Not that you would expect these things to be less than but it was noticeably very clean. The food was delicious. I had a jalepeno corn cake Eggs Benedict, and the table ordered a lot of scrambles and crepes. Everything was delicious and perfect portions. Good combination of fruit for the fresh fruit side(pineapple, strawberry, canteloupe).

Incorporate lovely fresh vegetables with breakfast and I’m in heaven. Had the crepes filled with spinach, mushrooms, and avocado. Served with salad and fruit. Hard to choose between breakfast and lunch fare — even at 10:00 am. Excellent coffee. Hubby had eggs Benedict. Will recommend. Thanks.

We stopped here on our way back to Chicago and had a great brunch. Great vegetarian friendly menu left us with a difficult time choosing. The eggs Benito were a home run. The kale and quinoa salad was good, a little over dressed but good. Service was excellent.

First things first… The term«diner» and the pathetic slices of bacon do not represent this place at all. Every bite was delicious. I don’t often finish my meals and I scraped my plate here. We sat on the patio, had great service. It wasn’t too busy when we went. For lunch… I ordered the egg foo young open faced, which was essentially a kick ass breakfast sandwich… scrambled eggs and the works inside, with Sriracha mayo on a delish brioche. Just typing this makes me want to go back now! My husband ordered the tuna tar tar and got it on spinach instead noodles. It came with a healthy portion of tasty tuna. Went back the next day for breakfast… it was a Thursday morning and we had our choice of seats on the patio, much like lunch yesterday. I ordered the blueberry French toast which was heavenly. Blueberry bread with a really yummy crust. Reminded me of a donut but not so sweet. My husband got the egg scramble which was great. The home made sausage was excellent. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tasty meal. We will definitely be back!

Stopped here for breakfast because all the places in the downtown area were crowded. We had the blueberry French toast and it was fantastic! The seasonal quiche was delicious as well. I would definitely come back for the food. The atmosphere was average but the food makes up for it.

I fell in love with this place before I even arrived! I called and(I think) the owner answered and was sweet and funny! I knew we were heading to the right place. It’s really small and cute. We sat outside because it was gorgeous out! The service was friendly. We both started with coffee and were happy with it(I’m picky about coffee). The fresh squeezed OJ was good too. The BF had eggs Benedict which I’m really sad I didn’t take a bite of. Come to think of it I’m pretty sure he never offered. I had a scrambler with sausage, cheddar and mushrooms. It was delicious! I also had wheat toast and was served 2 homemade jams. A strawberry and lemon. I wanted to sit there all day and just eat that jam!!! The only thing that was just average were the hash browns on my plate. I like them burnt though and they weren’t well done. Maybe that’s why. I will absolutely eat here again when in Michigan! I’m looking forward to trying lunch next time too!

There is breakfast and there is lunch. Then there is breakfast and lunch the way Jackie makes it. I was in New Buffalo for 3 days. Happened upon Jackie’s almost by accident, as the outside is very unasuming for the amazing food served inside. There is something that happens to a meal when you know the owner is the chef and the chef is in the back. There is something that happens when the owner, chef come to the front of the house to also care for the guests.(not customers, but guests) And does so with such happiness and appreciation. There is something that happens when the chef, puts a care and quality and love into the preparation, and presentation of the meal. Lunch or breakfast, the quality was still the same. I was in town for 3 days and had 2 lunches and 2 breakfasts. Asian Noodles, Brisket Sandwich, Eggs, French Toast. All delicious. In addition purchased some of Jackie’s home made jams and deserts as a hostess gift for later that evening that were amazing. If your within 35 minutes of Jackie’s, make the drive. If you live closer, turn the stove off and eat at Jackie’s. Trust me, anything you make at home will not compare.

Really good stuff, with room for a bit of improvement. Came here with my family for Father’s Day at 9:30A.M.; we were seated right away. Although we were seated quickly, we were some of the first people there and it quickly picked up between 9:30A.M.-10:00A.M. My sister and I had the blueberry french toast, which was delicious and came with a citrus infused glaze on the crust. It was served with a small pat of fresh butter and real maple syrup. I also had pork sausage patties, which are handmade and really good, a little spicy. We also ate some of the blueberry jam that was sitting on the table along with lemon curd, both of which were fresh and delicious. The lemon curd is crazy sweet, but so fresh and delicious. My Dad and my wife had the eggs benito, which is a take on egss benedict served on top of jalapeño cornbread with a cheesy jalapeño sauce. All very delicious, although my wife’s eggs were very overcooked. The sauce added plenty of moisture, however, so she ate it without mentioning it. The scramble that my Mom had was tasty — fresh pork sausage, spinach, and swiss cheese with toast. Coffee a touch weak; I had green tea that was really tasty. The décor is clean and bright but nothing great. With the prices they charge, around $ 10-$ 13 for each breakfast, it could be a bit more upscale in that department, but hey, I’d eat in a barn on top of a donkey if the food was good. And it was. The service was not the best. The two waitresses are good looking and reasonably polite, but they do not go above and beyond to be friendly and responsive. I had to ask twice for an extra chair for our fifth party member(I would have grabbed one myself but I didn’t want to rudely take one from a table someone was sitting at) and when I was asking for a box, the lady just walked away and brought back a box later, not acknowledging my request. Still, if you’re looking for a great, home made breakfast in New Buffalo that is a little more creative and upscale than the usual diner fair, this is a great choice. I am also curious to try the lunch options, because they had some interesting choices — Taiwanese peanut noodles, an Asian shrimp salad, sandwiches, Egg Foo Young, yum! I will update this review when I try more things!

I was pretty excited to try this place, as I loved the chocolate bag at RedLight in Chicago. I heard that the chef, Jackie, walks around her new spot and greets customers. Thus, I could not wait to give it a shot. The restaurant is not very exciting décor wise. It is bright and clean. We were the only patrons on a recent Sunday morning. Our server smiled but clearly was not happy to be working. Very odd and uncomfortable. The food was dynamic. Simple, quality ingredients. My scramble was delicious and perfectly executed. I loved the lemon curd and grape jam on the table. Jackie was not walking around the restaurant greeting people. Maybe because we were the only patrons. Disappointing.

Casual small breakfast and lunch café. Food quality was average to above-average: eggs tasted fresh, bacon was thick and flavorful, kitchen potatoes were typical, multi-grain bread was hearty but lukewarm. Preparation was below-average to average: overall food temp was disappointingly lukewarm, overall taste was average, portions were small yet filling. Service was friendly and attentive. Ambience: table seating in a small open room with colorful wall décor; tables are wrapped in duct-tape as noted by a previous reviewer. Price of breakfast for three adults with one shared dessert Chocolate Bag: $ 60.

Delicious breakfast and best of all everything is homemade. Fresh squeezed orange juice, bread made in house, local sausage. Wow, wish there were more places like this closer to home. Also, I wanted to mention, at first I thought the hash browns were pre-made but luckily for my taste buds they were made from scratch and delish! Jackie was walking around greeting guests, loved it!

Things to be enamored of: the chef/owner walking the floor and chatting with guests, fresh, homemade food and honest to goodness pastry. Things designed to take away from the experience: too loud music and an overly noisy dining room. Suggestions: keep on keepin’ on with the food quality, invest in acoustical tiles and more ambient tunes.

My boyfriend and I came here for brunch on a Sunday. The spot is pretty cute, and the menu is an average diner menu. I got the eggs benedict, he got waffles. The food was decent, but pretty overpriced for what it was. The prices were on par with brunch spots in Chicago and NYC, but the food definitely not as good. The portions were small and no sides. We also ordered a side of bacon — 3 dry strips that tasted stale for $ 6. We mentioned to the waitress that we thought the bacon tasted old, but she just shrugged and didn’t offer to take it off our bill. Overall, come here if other places are closed for serviceable food.

The big sign outside says Grateful Diner. But if you look closely, you’ll see a small sign in the yard that says Jackie’s Café. Everything here tastes like your grandma’s recipe. The blueberry french toast was awesome. This isn’t like a «blueberry» Eggo waffle where there’s just blue candy chunks inside. They made a loaf of blueberry bread with actual blueberries and then made french toast out of it because YOU’REWORTHIT. The bacon was also most excellent. Our server was super cute and friendly. We sat on the small, enclosed outdoor porch to enjoy our meal. If you’re in New Buffalo, make this your preferred brunch destination.
