Umg Family Medicine At Monument Square

This practice is abominable. The ladies who work the main office are extremely rude over the phone and in person. They’re also incompetent; I had given them all my information prior to my appointment and the day of they didn’t know which Doctor I was supposed to be seeing or what type of appointment I had scheduled. It took thirty minutes to get me to an examination room. They attempted to bill me even though a yearly physical is covered in my insurance. Lastly, I needed a referral for a dermatologist which they promised to mail and have not done so. I’ve called three times in the past three weeks and they still have not sent me the referrals! These people are unprofessional and inept.

Cheaters !! I went for a annual physical which is free under my insurance. The lady at the counter even said I need not pay the copay. As I was doing it for the first time, I just followed whatever they asked me to do. The nurse first took me to eye-​check (stand at a distance and read letters, that’s it). At the end, they billed me for eye check-​up and as office visit. I was totally aghast!
I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Been coming here for years. Appointments are hard to come by and are frequently cancelled by the staff. They do reschedule the appointments, but the new appointments are generally a couple of weeks after your initial one.
The wait time is always insane. I’ve never had an appointment start on time, and there’s never any explanation for the tardiness.
They are pretty good about fitting you in for sick visits. The appointment line is almost never answered, and don’t bother leaving a message, because no one’s going to call you back.
It’s also tough to get a call back from their on-​call doctors.
The doctors and nurses are pretty personable, but there’s so many of them that you’ll probably never see the same doctor twice.

After moving to New Brunswick, I attempted to find a primary care physician close to home. The UMDNJ Division of Family Medicine at Monument Square seemed to be a good choice since they have many PCPs on staff. However, I called them at least 15 times in the span of 2 weeks only to get a voicemail each time saying that they were busy helping other patients and that they will return my phone call within one business day. I left a voicemail on two separate occasions with the requested information: name, phone number, date of birth, and reason for the call. I never received a call in return. I image that if it is that difficult to contact them, they must be poorly run.

I am usually not picky about doctors. I am fairly healthy so I am in then out. But then I went to this place. Wow. This place first took 4 days to return 4 of my calls. That should have been my first sign. They were listed as my PCP and I had just moved to New Brunswick so I thought I would try instead of go through the hassle to change. I went once to get a routine issue taken care of, the doctor was fine and requested I come in again for a routine physical and pap smear.
The day before my visit I called to confirm and they said my appointment was cancelled. Huh? So I rescheduled a week later and my regular doctor was not there, so they gave me some dude.
Dude had no clue. His idea of a routine physical was checking my reflexes and going through a long list of problems in about 30 seconds to make sure I had none of them. I kept my clothes on the whole time, no pap smear, no real exam.
