I ordered the vegan house special burrito. I saw this on a poster on the wall so I was excited they had vegan options. However when the burrito came out it had sour cream and cheese all over it. I asked if this was perhaps vegan cheese, but nope it was real cheese. I asked if the burrito was vegan and the waiter said«yes, on the inside!» I didnt want to cause any problems so i simply wiped the dairy off on top and ate half of the burrito. However when I warmed up the burrito at home in the microwave, there was cheese melting on the inside! I didnt notice this at the restaurant and I was very disappointed that the waiter lied to me. Maybe they don’t know what the difference between vegan and vegetarian means, but don’t advertise vegan menu items on a wall poster then!

Ordered from them on GrubHub. They gave me the exact time it was going to be here and it arrived here at the very last minute projected. I loved that. Cinco de Mayo called to verify something in my order(I ordered torta ahogada, chicken salad, Mexican tamale, and beet juice). She wanted to verify want kind of ahogada I wanted. She spoke only Spanish. Lucky for her, so did I, but I told her that wasn’t a good business model lol. Love the authenticity but if she didn’t luck out with a spanish speaker how would we have communicated? Regardless, that torta ahogada and chicken salad was some of the best food I could have expected from a random Mexican place I found on GrubHub. It was so damn good! Arrived fast, good serving size, well seasoned and looked great too. I plan to definitely order more. Excitamundo lol.

Food arrived cold. There was no flavor on either of the meals(chicken flautas and quesadillas). Both drinks that were ordered did not arrive with the meals. I attempted to call them to inquire about the drinks multiple times and no one answered the phones. NEVERAGAIN.

I suffered from a horrible bout of infectious colitis(Shigella) which put me in the ER after dining here. My diet surrounding that meal consisted of cereal and PB&Js so I’m pretty sure I can narrow the cause down to Cinco de mayo. All you need to do is see this hell-hole in the wall«restaurant» with your own eyes to have concerns about the sanitary standards they keep. That’s not saying the food isn’t authentic and delicious… But if you’re prone to easy GI infections then dine at your own risk. One extra star cause at least I enjoyed my last meal for a week…

I used to love coming here but I think they stopped using cotija cheese in their enchiladas and that has been a game changer. I loved their cotija cheese and now they use mozzarella which seems heavier and not as flavorful. Hope they can change back!

I was visiting my sister at Rutgers, who LOVES burritos but wasn’t exactly sure about driving through New Bruns on her own to check this place out. Yes, it’s not in the greatest neighborhood but this makes for some authentic Mexican eats for sure. All I can say, is it’s definitely authentic. When Latinos/Hispanics themselves, myself included, are stopping by, you know it’s legitimate. They servers aren’t exactly the most friendly, but they get the job done. They start you off with chips and a few different types of salsas, all pretty spicy in my opinion. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, you should probably just stick to the chips. We wanted to try a burrito but knew we each would not be able to finish one, so we split the Ranchero Burrito w/Marinated Pork(Al Pastor) and ordered 2 additional Carne Asada Tacos + guac. The burrito about about 75% rice, 15% beans and 10% pork so this fell a little short in my opinion. Even though the components were flavorful, there were no veggies or sour cream and we definitely wanted more meat. The spicy pico + side of guacamole we ordered, definitely elevated it. As for the tacos, they told us the tortillas were homemade, but I’ve had enough to know the difference between a packaged one and fresh… these were definitely not made to order. The meat was tender and flavorful but it was missing some acid. I added some guacamole, but all we needed were a few lime wedges. Overall, we were disappointed since the reviews were good and other people in the area had spoken so highly of it but walked away with a couple conclusions: 1. It was cheap as hell — that alone is a reason to go back. For everything above, we paid $ 15 without tip! 2. Maybe we just didn’t order the right items — next time(if ever one presents itself), I would consider something a little less«Americanized» i.e. mole, tortas, etc. 3. It’s BYO 4. They deliver and are open until 4AM(although I wouldn’t recommend traveling here at this hour) My burrito loving sister, would still rather pay the extra couple bucks and go to Chipotle :/

A shining star in New Brunswick. Great food… nice chicken fajita. Very good salsa and chips… I have to ask for more. Décor is authantic mexican. They screwed up my wife’s veggie enchilada… I would definitely recommend this affordable mexican gem.

Ordered food online through the Eat24 service. Order was not large at all(one burrito and a few tacos to hit the $ 15 minimum) and it took 2.25 hours to get my food after connecting both the Eat24 staff and the restaurant by phone. The Unilocal service told me that the order would take 45−60min, then the restaurant texted me telling me to download an app to track my order which told me another 30min, then when I called I was told it would be another 20 – 25 when I called… no apology for the frankly absurd amount of time it took them. My company had already given up and left, leaving me with two meals of lukewarm food to eat HOURS after I ordered. If there was some issue, the restaurant should have let me know. The food itself was alright. Out of what I tried the salted beef taco was the best. I imagine if it wasn’t for the experience I would be willing to order from them again but their lazy, disrespectful service will prevent me from ever doing that.

New cook? The first time I came here it was very yummy but this last time everything was so dry and prepared poorly, The meat in my burrito was so dry I felt like I got beef jerky when really it was supposed to be soft and juicy. I forgot what burrito I got exactly but it was the suadaro inside. I also got al pastor and that just tasted burnt. The cheese on the burritos were not melted either. Very sad experience.

When middle aged white women send their husbands to try a place because it’s too«ethnic» for them, I knew it had to be good. Take other reviews who claim it’s not as «authentic» as places like Chipotle(like seriously, dude?) with a grain of salt. This place is AWESOME. It’s where the Mexicans go to eat Mexican. I have not ordered anything here that wasn’t excellent. My personal favorites are the burrito a la diabla and the taco barbecoa(grilled goat taco with pineapple). The burritos are massive, cheap, and delicious. Bring a case of Modelo and enjoy real Mexican food by Mexican people.

The food here is pretty good! It’s cheap and the portions are huge. It’s nearly impossible to finish one burrito in one sitting. Well it’s doable but your stomach may by be happy afterwards. They also have three different types of salsa which I love! Can’t wait to go back.

After several good meals here had two poor orders in a row. Generally the food is well priced and tasty, the fatty beef taco and burritos are among our favorites but twice my burrito has had chunks of dried out rice in it. Pretty disappointing to bite into your burrito into a rock solid mass of rice. Some simple quality control could prevent this, kind of makes you wonder what else they let slip through. Probably have better luck at El Ronconito Mexicano on Georges or the place on Franklin Blvd

Holy shit this place rules. We showed up at 1:30 at they were ready to serve. Then they brought us free fancy nachos that were amazing. The pico was good, the homemade salsas were good. Dude in creepy sunglasses was very attentive to our needs. There was no Mohawk profiling. Saved half for breakfast. –Paul It’s the first time we as a unit tapped out. Food was great. Fresh and plenty of it. –Mike I have been defeated. Breakfast has been postponed until further notice. Pray for my b-hole. –BJ Not into Mexican food? No problem! The fries and snapple are off the fucking chain. The portions look out of control. –Josh Got a burrito had smaller girl friends –dave

I can’t believe I never went here the 4 years I went to Rutgers! You get a huge portion for such a great price. I got the tex mex burrito vegetarian and I could only eat ¾, and that’s after over eating! The chips and salsa were great, they give you a mild salsa, a spicy one, and pico de gallo. I do agree with everyone else that they do put too much rice in it but I like rice so it didn’t bother me. If you like a smoky flavor get the burrito ranchero! My mouth was on cloud 9. But don’t expect the décor to be nice or anything, it’s literally in the ghetto of New Brunswick. I’m giving it 4 stars cause I found a small hair in my pico de gallo but I forgave them for that.

Came here with high hopes of getting real authentic Mexican in New Brunswick… I left wishing I had just gone to Chipotle. I got a carne asada taco, a stuffed pepper taco, a pork tamale, and a chorizo burrito. Got it all for $ 13 through grub hub. I ordered pick-up and made sure I got their before my order was done so I got it as fresh as I could. I started with the tacos, and they were the only part of the meal I enjoyed. They were both pretty bland but it’s hard to make a taco I don’t like. The tamale wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be, but I thought that was a long shot anyways. My «Chorizo Burrito» was more like a plain old rice and beans burrito with an itty bitty, unnoticeable amount of chorizo on the bottom… and that itty bit of chorizo was the only flavorful part of the dish. I might give this place another shot but only if I dine in, despite poor reviews about service. I’ll update if I do. Til next time, Cinco De Mayo. PS — The first time I tried ordering delivery from here last year I had to cancel the order due to a language barrier with the delivery driver. Apparently he was lost but only spoke Spanish so we had to communicate through the hostess through another phone number… talk about frustrating.

We ordered tacos to go and when we pick it up, it wasn’t ready. Not only that, when I wanted to pay the server printed me the wrong check, took my credit card and ran the card without letting me checking the bill. Sure enough, they charged another customer bill to my card. Good thing it was actually less than my check, so whatever…:) The service flow, interior and table layout was very unorganized. I understand that its an ethnic restaurant but still you gotta have some basics when running a restaurant. The kitchen seems very dirty and poorly maintained. The only good thing is that they open till late!
