Ever had your clothes washed by a spaceship before? Look no further than South Main Laundromat. The machines here are brand new, look like they were designed by Stephen Hawking, and most importantly, work very nicely.
I trusted some nice dress shirts among my other clothes to these machines, and the results were impressive. The front load machines are gentle, and the dryers are not fabric-​destroying hot. I now go here regularly.
Know this ahead of time — this laundromat works on a card system with «free drying time,» which we all know just means that the wash price is higher to make up for it. Still, the card itself costs you only a dollar, and the washer prices are VERY reasonable: $ 3.84, $ 6.59, $ 8.59, and $ 11.69. Wanna pay even less? Tuesdays and Wednesdays are 20% off.
I find these prices to be excellent, because I can do a week’s laundry in the $ 6.59 machine (or the $ 5.27 machine as it were). Just make sure you understand the «free drying» system, because there are limits depending on which washer you use. Your card will be charged a little extra if you go over.
But you shouldn’t ever go over, because DAMN these dryers are fast! I put my clothes in a single 45 lb. dryer, and most of my clothes are dry in UNDER 25 minutes. Combined with the quick wash times, I can honesty be in and out of this place in a little under an hour, which is unprecedented.
It’s not in the best neighborhood, but I don’t care, because it is perhaps the best laundromat I’ve ever been to.
