As Darryl’s review mentions, this business is found at many local farmers markets: the Sunday morning Alamo Quarry FM is where I found them. Love how hot the tamales are kept, waiting to be bought and devoured by hungry San Antonians– and the flavors inside are hot and spicy too! Tried the(super sweet!) owner’s favorite– a poblano version that is already spicy before adding their intense hot sauces. Side note: they should sell their sauces as well if they aren’t already, though I noticed their tomato-based salsas were on the menu. Flavor was good in the tamale but felt it the masa was a bit too thick for my liking. Strong flavor of the filling made it still a good eat, but the heavy masa, in that amount, made sure it filled me up– a good thing in terms of value($ 3 meal!) but an area to improve quality-wise.

Organic great tasting tamales can be found at the New Braunfels Farm to Market every Saturday from these folks. I’m not sure who is behind this company, but they can be seen at all the farmer’s markets in Austin and San Antonio. Furthermore, their organic meat and vegan tamales are served at both of Revolucion Coffee’s locations(San Antonio and New Braunfels). At this location, a nice young girl and her mother were serving up these tamales. I can’t wait to try all of the tamales on subsequent Saturdays. They even have one cooked in banana leaves. Eats: — pork pastor tamale with a super spicy green hot sauce as an acomplishment $ 3.00 — masa to meat ratio about 65/35, needs more meat and masa wasn’t steamed through, but had a great taste. hot sauce hell fire hot. Crumbs: — can buy by the dozen — friendly mother and daughter team(the daughter translates, and she speaks to the Latino clientel) The daughter is about 10(future Martha Stewart).
