Service is bad. Hostess acted angry. Took 12 Minutes to get a drink and there are three occupied tables. Taco was worse than Taco Bell or Dairy Queen taco, which I like. Beans were a 5 of 10. Salsa is so-so. The beef fajita oddly was absolutely great. Best I’ve had and that is saying something. Just great. The bartender just hocked a loogie and spit it in a garbage can behind the bar. I heard and saw it from across the restaurant during my meal. It is mid afternoon. Gross. They should fire everyone except the guy/gal that is responsible for beef fajitas.

After spending afternoon in Gruene, we stumbled upon this restaurant and we’re pleasantly suprised! Very flavorful and authentic! Wish they were in Austin!

Had lunch with friend Monica. As always, when I go to a Mexican restaurant, I’m all about the Chips and Queso. I ordered a small Chile con Queso. Nothing grand. Chips were on the blah side. Monica ordered a huge plate full of food. Can’t remember what she ordered but it did look tasty. One thing I did notice: Most Mexican restaurants will play Mexican music. This place had Salsa jams playing. I love Salsa but I’d expect to hear that at Spanish or restaurantes Boricua. Anyway, I would consider this place again and maybe try their soup..

Food is decent but the staff and management is horrible, disrespectful, and rude. I rather drive an extra 10 minutes to go to another restaurant. When ordering for pick up its always wrong and they don’t have it all together. Not recommended.

We’re staying in New Braunfels so we decided to stop by. Place is kind of outdated. Needs remodeling. Has kind of a musty odor. I ordered the Mariachi Fajitas. They had shrimp, beef and chicken. They were ok. I had the corn tortillas which were homemade. I also had the chile toreados which means fried jalapeño’s. Those were very spicy. That’s what I like. Our server was Philip who was an exceptional server. Really cool dude. If I would to say if this is authentic Mexican food. I would say«NO» my husband ordered beef enchiladas and the sauce tasted like chili wolf. But. I kind of rate a restaurant by service and Philip was the best! We did have Dos XX dressed and they were cold and delish.

My party walked in at 8:40pm. Staff told us they close at 9pm and the kitchen is «closed».

My family and I stopped in for a late lunch(2pm), there was no one at the hostess stand. To our left, we saw a table full of employees, but no one got up to help us. We stood there for a couple of minutes and looked around, no one ever came over to us… based on experience we took this as a bad sign and turned around and walked out. Never again.

Chips and salsa were not very good. Chips although crispy had a weird aftertaste and salsa was warm. Chicken fajita quesadillas were liked by the kids. I ordered a la carte: I asked for chicken fajita flour taco and was served the shredded chicken. They fixed it and I did like it. The beef taco was fine but I didn’t care for the tamale covered in a red sauce. The flavor of the sauce were too bold and I couldn’t get the full flavor of the tamale. Margarita was good. Wasn’t blown away but also wasn’t greatly disappointed.

I really liked this place! I’d give it 4 ½ stars. The chips were hot and fresh, and came with 2 different sauces, a warm red salsa and a green? tomatillo? sauce that were both really good. I had a Margarita, and a mixed plate called el chaparro, it had a crispy taco, cheese enchilada(I had chili sauce on it that they call beef gravy), puffy tostada with queso, rice &beans. I subbed the refried for borracho beans, and man those were the best I have ever had! They are in some kinda red sauce broth, instead of the usual most places have. The Margarita was good not great. The service was really great, I wish I could remember the waiters name but I can’t. The reason I rounded this up to 5 stars and not down to 4 like I would normally do is because of the bad reviews. I really liked this place and loved that the gave you HOT not just warm chips, and 2 different sauces.

I actually leave Los Cucos when the female manager is running the show because of a previous incident in handling a customer service issue. I’ve been back and actually expressed my concern to the male manager and he seemed to understand. Today, I should have called ahead. I walked in, wasn’t greeted, tables were dirty and when the hostess did go back to her station she stood there. The workers and service is only as good as those lead. The management lacks commitment to the place and it’s demonstrated in the workers attitude. They always have a now hiring sign. When it runs right, the food is delicious!

Not the greatest food or atmosphere but conveniently located in New Braunfels. Difficult to carry on a conversation, horrible acoustics. Recently remodeled but still looks like a Taco Cabana. Prices have steadily climbed over the last couple of years and now basic entrees are 9.99 to 11.99. Food and service are very inconsistent. Regular diner here but this visit was unpleasant. Hostess would not acknowledge our presence, chose to continue wiping off menus rather than greet us. Ordered regular meal but forgot to change my enchilada to cheese vs. chicken. When meal arrived I acknowledged my mistake to my server. Instead of offering to switch she just said«sorry that is the way it comes». Fine. ok, it was my lapse in ordering. Case Closed. Then she sends the manager to our table. Really? Could we not just enjoy our meal? Manager asks what is wrong, nothing I reply, I just ordered my meal from memory(being a regular customer Implied) and forgot to change the enchilada to cheese, «I just won’t have my enchilada». Instead of offering to switch he just said«sorry that meal come with chicken not cheese… yes I have heard this before! Got the very clear message that he could care less if my dining experience was positive or not.

We were sat near the bathroom. Every time the door was opened this nasty smell rolled out into the area that reeked like ten toilets had backed up. My wife and I were nauseated and it absolutely ruined our visit to this establishment. We asked to be reseated and they promptly did so. However we couldn’t get the smell out of our noses and it ruined the meal. Another thing that ruined the meal for me specifically was that I was sat directly behind a couple who kept moving in the seat. Every time Sasquatch would move it would jostle me while I was trying to eat. I usually don’t pay as much for the«cheap seats» and this was the final straw. We won’t be back… ever.

I love the food here, they are so kind to work with my vegetarian gluten free request and my daughters vegan request ;) I bring my friends from out of town here and everyone loves it. The service outside is terrible, but the view and peaceful setting is lovely. Aloha

My Mom, brother and I came here for lunch on Easter Sunday to avoid cooking for just the three of us. I was a bit reluctant, as I remember Los Cucos being pretty greasy food towards the end of my college life in San Marcos. First off, the complimentary green sauce is amazing. It’s not that weird questionable artificially green stuff like their competitor(cough, cough, Mamacita’s). The red sauce is delicious too, served warm. I was soooooo pleasantly surprised by all of our food! My brother ordered taquitos, I got the El Memo combo(beef fajita and Mexican style chalupa), and my Mom got a more traditional Tex-Mex combo with a cheese enchilada and a beef taco. Everything was so amazing. My Mexican style chalupa was absolutely delicious. They call it Mexican style, as it’s not Tex-Mex, it’s got Ranchero shredded chicken, queso fresco and a cabbage slaw on top, as opposed to grated cheese and iceberg lettuce. My brother and Mom thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. I’m so glad Los Cucos has kept the food quality at such a high standard, as it’s such a staple when craving Mexican food in the hill country.
