This is a good place for a good shave. I was traveling from out of town, and needed a shave, as my razor had been left behind. Amanda took care of me, and she knew her business. She did the appropriate preliminaries and quite professionally scraped me clean. Very personable attitude and no problems dealing with the wild directions my beard grows. The establishment itself is pleasant and welcoming. They only take cash, so be prepared. The price itself was appropriate for a shave of this service. Definitively the place to go in New Braunfels for hair — the staff is hairy without being hirsute!

Jessica cut my hair(1&4) and did a great job. Old style barbershop with local«color». Highly recommended for men and boys only.

One of the things I like best about Texas are the barber shops. This one is right there as a classic. You go in and feel like you are having Floyd Lawson(Mayberry’s barber) work on you. The atmosphere feels like the place has been there forever. Old seats, magazines, lots of texas themed shwagg and deer horns. Most barbers are closed on Mondays. I went to JD’s because it was open on Monday. This was like most that it closed at 5 so I took an early lunch to go. The barber was super personable. Very friendly and interacted with both myself and the prior customer well. I liked him and he was friendly. The haircut was perfect. Even shaved my neck. It was insanely cheap so I gave him a big tip bringing it up to what I expected to pay. Would I go back? Heck yeah.

I had forgotten how awesome old fashioned barber shops were. I’ve been cutting my own hair for at least 20 years with only a couple of exceptions. Those exceptions were always some sort of Supercuts clone. When I was a child, my mother took me to a barber shop that was actually across the street from J.D.‘s(owned by the late Louis Sedlar). It’s funny how you outgrow things then crave to have them back. You can bring back old memories at J.D.‘s. I had my hair and beard trimmed by Albert with laser precision… no guards on the trimmer, just mad skills. The shop itself has been there since the mid 70’s and I doubt anything has changed since. The combination of smells of talcum, barbasol, and musk fills the air cannot be bottled. For just a few bucks more than the chains, you get 100x better result.
