Bubba’s Big Deck

Racist business… I (half black) came by the river and they started playing a racist song that was talking about ‘niggers’…
They told my boyfriend that he had to buy a drink for himself and me in order to hang out by the river which I understand… but they for sure noticed and accounted for me and decided to play a racist song.
The fact that they even have that song on queue/​available is enough to say that anyone with any decency should not go there.

I used to spend many summer days at Bubba’s…back when Bubba ran the place. It was always our go-​to spot: beer was always cold and cheap, Bob was always behind the bar, there was always great live music and lots of familiar faces. Fast forward a couple years… I move back and am so excited to show my fiancé this great bar right on the river. Unfortunately, while I was away, Bubba moved to the coast. This place is so different now. The woman that runs the place is extremely rude, and we’ve been back several times hoping we just caught her on a bad day. Not the case. There hasn’t been music any of the times we’ve been there, although we’re always told ‘next weekend’. The bikes that once filled the parking lot are scarce. It’s a shell of what it once was. This bar has SO MUCH potential!!! That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars, hoping and praying that it’s just been a bad summer with all of the rain, and soon it will return to what it used to be-​the greatest spot on the river!

I just don’t get it, other than the view of the Guadalupe River.
The dork Bikers frankly ruin the atmosphere of Gruene, with the unnecessary noise and the ridiculous «please look at me — I have a Harley» stares.
Wish something fun with good food, drinks, and service was in this ideal location, instead of this noisy eyesore.

This place is something else. They need some bottles of hooch up in here to go with the misbehaviour. The views are top notch. And that’s all I have to say about that.
