My husband and I love BBQ. Due to the good Unilocal ratings we stopped at Randy’s BBQ in New Boston, Texas. I ordered the large chopped BBQ beef sandwich, with potato salad and cole slaw as sides, and water. My husband had the large burnt ends sandwich, chips, and iced tea. Our bill came to $ 27 and some change. The sauce comes in bottles, sweet, mild, and hot. You can mix them to your taste. My chopped sandwich was more on the shredded side, not cubed. I was excited to see some of that delicious bbq bark mixed in, but I was disappointed to find it kinda hard. The potato salad and cole slaw were just ok. I think its kinda pricey for the quality of food. I never say never, but I doubt that we will stop back in this place.

Randy’s has great food. we stop every once in awhile. I think his BBQ is tender and tasty with a sweet or mild sauce. But beware his staff can be a bit moody and unprofessional at times other then that. I would have given them a 4 star…

Ok, no bones about it. One of the best BBQ experiences of my life. I knew we we’re on to something when I told them I had been looking for a barbecue place and a local said, «Well, you’ve come to the right place, best barbecue around.» He was right! Plus this little gem has the nicest staff I think I’ve ever experienced. I got the burnt ends sandwich with beans & potato salad. Def a home run. Loved the burnt/extra seasoned flavor of the burnt ends and the beans were perfect. Potato salad was good, basically potato salad. But all food seemed fresh and homemade. And yes, I bought the shirt. And an employee said, «You know that shirt comes with a job, right.» Laughter ensued… Awesome!

Had the burnt ends beef brisket and pulled pork. Both flavorful and tender. Both went well with the hot /spicy and the sweet BBQ sauce. The fried okra was made to order. Super crisp and light. Baked beans would do better if some of the burnt ends were chopped island added. A great local BBQ stop. Don’t bring your vegetarian friends.

I was pretty disappointed considering the other reviews. The food is average and the portions were scant for the cost. The hot bbq sauce was good but nothing special. I wouldn’t go back.

Just passing through New Boston and saw Randy’s BBQ. Saw the good reviews and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. Chopped beef was excellent as were the potato salad and beans. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Would definitely stop by again!

Good customer service. I have never been here before and they let me try multiple meats before I even ordered. Food was excellent as well. I will definitely be back.

After seeing that this place had the best Unilocal reviews in the area, our group stopped here on the way to Arkansas. Now I see why the reviews are so great! You HAVE to get the beef… the sandwich was good, but a meat plate by itself is also good. The sauce is fantastic. The burnt ends are also good if you like those. I’ve had a decent amount of east Texas BBQ, and this is the best I’ve had by far!

Meat was great. Coleslaw, potato salad unremarkable. Fried okra had an off taste. Water was not filtered and had a chemical taste. People were very friendly and helpful. Bathroom floor was greasy, but fixtures were clean.

I was pretty jazz’d when I saw all those stars for this joint. Maybe it was my high expectations that led to a fairly decent meal at Randy’s rather than an «Oh WOW!» one. I saw«burnt ends» on the menu and I knew that’s what I wanted. I asked the kid behind the counter if they made their own sausage(I’m a big fan of house-made sausage). Honestly, he blinked at least 3 times and paused a good 5 seconds before saying, «ummm…well, we smoke it here.» Okay… curiosity was getting the better part of me and I said, «Go ahead. I’ll have sausage, too.» I should’ve picked ribs or pork or anything else. The burnt ends were actually tasty. They were a little dry, but not so much a good dose of their great BBQ sauce didn’t fix. I certainly hope THAT’s made in house because they should bottle it and sell it! Great sauce. The sausage was pretty blah. It clearly looked and tasted like something mass produced by a big, commercial company. A true shame because I’m sure there’s a meat market somewhere close by that could outfit this place with all the GOOD sausage they would need and thrive on. Or, at least, get an order in to V&V for it. Also had the green beans and coleslaw for sides. Saw some unfavorable reviews of the coleslaw, but I thought it was excellent! I almost wish I’d done double that and no other sides. The addition of mustard to the slaw was mellow, flavorful and just plain good! Wish I could find this in other places. The service is friendly and pretty efficient. The dining area was small, but very clean, bright and enjoyable. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying some of the brisket and pork.

I wondered if all the 5 star reviews were real… They’re real alright… the bbq brisket is right on the money and so are the burnt ends… If you hand me bbq that doesn’t require bbq sauce, it is a darn good start. The potato salad and beans hit home and the setting is just as I expected in an East Tx BBQ joint. It beats any of the over priced, under cooked joints in Dallas by a country mile… I’ll see them tomorrow for lunch. I need to try the ribs… Update… I came back for the ribs and turkey breast. They didn’t disappoint!

This is real Texas BBQ! The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside it has a baseball theme to it. Ribs are real smoky, tasty, and has a dry rub to it. Pork was real tender, smoky, and mixes really well with all the sauces. 3 sauces and all are phenomenal — sweet, original, and hot which is the original with some cayenne or chili powder added. The hot has a bite to it but it is more flavor than heat. Potato salad is creamy and chilled. Nothing bad about the fried okra and the beans are made in house… not just out of a can with extra added stuff. They have several other choices for sides like slaw and fries. I can’t say enough about Randy’s. Bbq is my favorite food and I eat it almost weekly. Randy’s is one of the best BBQ places I’ve ever eaten at and may be at top of my list.

5 for BBQ3 for sides so will give it a 4 over all. Chopped beef, ham and turkey were all great. Lots of flavor with a little bit of a smokey taste. BBQ sauce was delicious, wonderful flavor, a nice smokey taste and a bit of heat. They have a spicy version but we tried the mild and liked it. Side are what you usually get at a BBQ place and they were good but not great. But, it really didn’t matter because the meat was so good that I pretty much skipped the sides. If we are in this area again we will definitely stop in again.

Burnt Ends! Good Q should be able to stand on it’s own without a lot of sauce and this does! Food was fresh & service was good.

I was driving in the area and gettin’ hungry. Seen the sign on the highway for BBQ. Found Randy’s and checked Unilocal before going in. The parking lot was already full so I figured the food was good or just the best place around. However, the Unilocal reviews had indicated that I was at the end of the rainbow. And yes, what I found I side was the«Pot O Gold’ I had the burnt ends, chopped pork, and ribs. Everything was tender and tasty just the way it was served. The mild sauce was just lagniappe. Made the dish even better. This is a place to remember when I am back in the area.

This is an easy 5 of 5 on my taste buds. I stumbled across this place while waiting to finish sim business up the road. I figured I’d give it a try after my last encounter with BBQ the previous night in a different town. Let me say that this is how BBQ should be done! I ordered the two meat plate with Beef burnt ends and chopped Pork. My two sides were the slaw and potato salad. In my book this is as traditional of a BBQ plate as you can build and boy did they get it right. First, the meat is tender and juicy. There is good flavor on both the Burnt ends and the Pork. The helping size is perfect for a single person looking for a good meal at lunch. Second, the sides were fresh and obviously made on site. You could taste the potatoes in the potato salad and the cole slaw is just the right amount of sweet to be perfect. Of course I had to have some of the great brewed Sweet Tea to go with the meal. The staff are great, very polite and friendly. Overall this experience had renewed my faith in the local BBQ for the East Texas area! If you find yourself passing by on I30 or in the area soon business, you’ve got to stop here for a meal, you simply won’t regret it!
