Atmosphere: 5⁄5 Everything else: 3⁄5 Been here twice so far. First time was a party of two around 8pm and we sat at the bar. Service was great and food was prompt. Second time was a party of 5, we arrived at 7:30pm and didn’t get a table until almost 9pm(closing time) where we were crammed in at a 4 person table. Again the service was good(beside our drinks getting lost at the bar) but our food came out slow. I would HIGHLY recommend making a reservation if you have more than 4 people.

Came here with hubby yesterday for drinks and dinner. $ 5 martini’s. Shared the meatloaf which was delicious. Probably the best potatoes and gravy we ever had. Don’t know if it was the food or the drinks but we really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere with the exposed brick was pleasant. We will return. Menu is expansive, something for everyone. And prices were good for the area.

Poor Mans Bowl is freakin awesome!!! Huge scallops, big shrimp, mussels, thinly sliced smoked sausage in a tasty tomato broth that was not overly heavy or oily. Seafood was extremely fresh. Served with a dozen chunks of lightly toasted italian bread for sopping up the broth. One of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in a long time.

Great service and good food and the price was super reasonable for 2 meals and an app with sodas.

Mediocre food, boring décor. Really a huge disappointment. The whole place feels canned, including the food. Really, if you can find another place to go, go there. Everything is overly fatty, mushy, and too sweet. Extremely awful. But the service is friendly. The croissants are not croissants; they are some strange overly fatty and excessively sweet American bread. Do not expect anything like French baked goods.

Food is always great but most of the time service is extremely slow. If you’re looking for gluten free, there aren’t very many options unless you want a burger without the bun or a salad. Maybe someday they’ll offer a gluten free menu!

Just took a date here for an early dinner. While eating a cockroach fell on to our table. Knocked it to the floor and killed it, told the waitress about it so it could get cleaned up. She didn’t seem surprised and got someone to clean it up. I probably won’t be returning for awhile. A memorable date, and the food is always good. But that’s pretty nasty.

First time here since we moved to the area. This place is great and will be back again. Had a great time with our Waitress Brie, and of course my family. The food was perfect not greasy at all. I had the flounder with chips«yum».

Long wait on weekend nights — make reservations. Nice little bar in the back. Good bartender. Food is great. Wide variety to choose from. Service at times is a bit slow but never has bothered us. Well priced– One of our regular stops when we are in New Bern. Have not been disappointed. Neat back patio.

Oh H*LL yeah! So my husband had a conference to go to and I tagged along for a few days. I saw this place had great reviews, and believe me, it doesn’t disappoint! Saturday night and there was a 20 minute wait at 7:30, so we sat at the bar. The bar staff was amazing. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta, which was good, but my husbands pork chops was the winner. And because of the other reviews, we tried the lobster bisque and it was the best. Well, that and those über-flaky croissants with honey. I wish I could remember the name of the bartender because he was great. We are visiting New Bern but will be eating there more this week! Oh, and the bread pudding is to die for…

Sit at the bar and ask for Moriko… I’m sure I butchered that spelling but it sounds right! Start there, add a nice bar with good beers and a fantastic menu and you have a sweet gem! Moriko was an absolute breath of fresh air who obviously had a higher level of care and consideration not just for her customers but for the establishment as well! I actually asked her if she was the owner because she dealt with everyone and all situations with the care and awesomeness that is seldom seen in an employee!

Everyone says this place is really good so I was extremely excited to try it. I was with a fairly large party on a Friday afternoon at about 2pm. We ordered our drinks and I also got a cup of lobster bisque…30 minutes later they arrived. Then I heard some people also ordered appetizers. I said«you have a menu with appetizers on it?» The waitress replied«well it’s only on the dinner menu.» This was lunch. Ok, I don’t really care so I’ll just order my food, I’d rather just have a main dish because we had croissants brought to the table(they were actually delicious but also stuck together so I am pretty sure they were previously frozen). BYTHEWAY, my «lobster» bisque had absolutely no lobster in it, and neither did the other 3 people who also ordered it. So then about 30 mins later the waitress is going around the tables asking people what they want to order… VERYSLOWLY… she comes to me. I ask her«is the grilled salmon on the Name This Salad good?» She says«yes, actually it’s the best thing when it’s on the salad, it’s my favorite». Me: «okay I’ll get that then!» So the food starts coming out OVERANHOURLATER… By this time it’s 3:40 and I am ready to leave. Food comes out and it’s such a cluster… the waitresses are quietly asking people«um who has the… uh I don’t even know what this is, it looks like it has jalapeños on it?» So ridiculous. So then everyone gets their food(in NOT the order they ordered it). And I look at the end of the table: all the people I came with are done eating and they hadn’t brought my food yet! I tried to get the attention of the waitresses several times but every time I said«excuse me» they never turned around. THEN, when they brought me my check I said«I’m not paying for this, I never received it». The waitress said«oh really? I thought you already ate it» there was ABSOLUTELYNOPLATE in front of me! Where did you think the plate went if you’re the person who takes the plates away?!? Needless to say I will not ever be returning to Morgan’s. Which is actually pretty bad for them because we all(about 25 people from the base) had a horrible experience, and I will certainly not be planning any more military functions there.

Putting free food in front of my face while I’m sitting down is almost like cheating. I could write a whole review on those croissants, but they didn’t survive long enough for me to think anything other than«ohmagaw» and they were free. I sat down with a friend, at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was getting real busy. Didn’t wait for a table though. Didn’t wait for a waitress, didn’t wait for drinks, or refills. Seriously we got our food delivered to us within like 10 minutes of ordering it and the waitress apologized for how slow it was like, gurl, don’t apologize I’ve never gotten service like this on a Saturday night in a restaurant like this before. Not for a $ 9 burger which tasted like a $ 15 beefy slab of frickle heaven(did I mention there were frickles on burger because there were). I don’t live in New Bern but I’ll make that drive again for food like this. This is what a restaurant should be.

3 ½ stars would be more like it, but am rounding up because we wouldn’t hesitate to stop back in if we were in the area. On our way home from Atlantic Beach Labor Day weekend and not wanting fast food, we stopped in for lunch after finding them on Unilocal. We almost didn’t go in because from the outside it looked like it had closed down, but I believe they were going through a renovation. It was a good thing we weren’t in any hurry, as it took awhile to be waited on, and while super friendly when she was around, our very like-able Server Gal could sure disappear for long periods of time. I had a cup of lobster bisque, which was thick and rich… quite tasty! My «Grilled» Romaine Salad however was a big disappointment. No sign of grilling whatsoever. So it meant a lot of cutting for little reward. And the salad dressing tasted like it was straight out of a bottle. Wah! Would not order that again! Husband however did like his Bear’s Way Burger(see pic for mushroom/onion/cheesy food porn) and Black Pepper Fries. Stole a fry or two and they were VERY good. They start you off with warm croissants drizzled with honey. While super yummy… get ‘em while they’re hot for the best experience! However, personal preference is for savory vs sweet bread before a meal. Next time would probably ask if we could have them after our meal, rather than before. Extra credit to our Friendly Server Gal who threw in a few extra croissants for us when we asked to box up the ones we hadn’t eaten.

My husband and I drove down to stop and visit a family friend. I wanted to treat her to dinner so I chose Morgans based on the reviews, Unfortunately I was not impressed. The atmosphere was cool, I believe it was an old garage turned into restaurant. The croissant with honey was delicious. We started with the buffalo fries. They were really good!!! Our friend had the meatloaf, which came out cold so they reheated it for her. She enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my taste… My husband had the burger which was really good… his mac and cheese was very boring in looks and taste. I had the french onion soup which was good, and the blackened salmon on charred romaine. I hated mine. I kept saying why does this taste like lighter fluid? Then I remembered it said charred, so I wonder if they put liquid smoke or something on there because it was totally overpowering. The staff was friendly and accommodating… The town is super cute… But if you come here I would definitely order the typical bar food(fries, burgers) they make those things good!!!

We service was great. We had several people attend to use, prompt, courteous, and friendly. Provided useful help on the menu items. The tuna starter was a good choice. I thought the chops, though moist and well prepared was lacking in some ways. The pepper fries are a good choice. The Mac and cheese was good but nothing stood out. The Morgan’s Nut Brown Ale was a good compliment to the meal.

I have to say we were disappointed with Morgan’s. It was packed on a Friday evening but we ended up not having to wait… but we were there on the early side. On the way out, around 6pm or so, it was a long wait. The layout itself is odd and I am not a big fan. It seems there are no exterior views from anywhere in the restaurant, and minimal natural light from a skylight. There are also several little rooms that segment off, but since they’re not closed off it can get loud. On to the service — it was good, not great. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about. Food wise, the famous rolls with honey came out first. Are you serious? Those things… not good. They literally just taste like Pilsbury(at best) crescent rolls with honey drizzled over. I don’t get the hype. Around this time, I ordered the sampler of beer… which didn’t come. And didn’t come. And didn’t come. Finally, when we got our main dishes(even after an app, which I don’t remember what it was), I had to remind them and it came about five minutes later. And unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed with the beer. We liked the porter, but everything else tasted… a bit plain, and very similar to each other. Even the IPA tasted surprisingly similar to everything else. My main dish was the seafood scampi, which had shrimp and scallops on linguini. I must say it was unlike any scampi I’ve ever had — more of an alfredo, no garlic to speak of. The seafood was good, I will say that, and in particular the shrimp. But overall, not quite what I was looking for. My wife had a burger with fries which was fine — nothing great, nothing bad. We just left unimpressed with the food and drink, sorry to say.
