Lawson’s Landing is a breath of fresh air in the restaurant world– they don’t fry anything. We went for lunch and were pleased to see that instead of typical ho-hum fries with greasy sandwiches, a customer has a choice of different types of salads. Healthy! With my delicious chicken salad croissant sandwich(pecans, grapes, all white meat) I got a balsamic tomato salad. Both delicious! My husband got the quinoa/beet salad with grilled chicken. The restaurant is attached to the NC Historical Museum and shares their parking. Riverfront views, great service(Thanks, Christopher!), and reasonable prices. Would recommend and will return.

Simple, tasty food. Lovely location. Just be careful of the splitting charge — $ 3! Wish they had told us that beforehand.

I was really expecting a lot from our first visit to this waterfront restaurant based on the reviews and the menu. While the menu was well thought-out and included lots of vegetarian-friendly options, I found the execution to be underwhelming — not a ton of flavor in any of the small plates or sandwiches and salads ordered for our table of four diners. I would consider this again for repeat quick-lunch visits but certainly not for a big family meal outing as part of a visit to New Bern where you want to try the very best tastes the town has to offer. The view is really nice however — and the upfit is nicely done inside and on the patio!

Wonderful experience! My parents live here in New Bern and are big fans(& members) of the NC History Museum and Tryon Palace and dine here often. We went out for brunch this morning to this café which is attached to the museum. It’s a delightful space that sets on the river view side. Gorgeous scenery on a nice day! The brunch menu had breakfast and lunch type offerings including eggs, pancakes, salads, sandwiches etc. My mom and I both got salads – she got the Sunflower and I got the Beet & Quinoa. Both were delicious. My dad got a Croque which was a slice of Italian loaf topped with ham and Swiss – he made it a «Madame Croque» by adding a poached egg option. He enjoyed it and we all agreed that it seemed like a spin on the classic benedict. Since I’m going to be back North soon, I took the opportunity to order a side of chipotle grits. Yum! Cheesy, creamy & spicy. The service was outstanding and I really enjoyed myself here. The Lawson’s Landing may be one of my new favorite spots to come when I am in town on a visit to my parents!

Not a large menu but there is something for most tastes. Everything is freshly made and well prepared. Service was excellent and a very pleasant environment. Dine indoors or out; beer, wine and spirits available. Couldn’t ask for much more.

This restaurant was a very pleasant surprize. Just wanting to grab a quick lunch to maximize the time at Tryon Palace and related museums. We expected this to be your standard snack shop fare. It definitely was not! The menu was very unique and diverse. The chicken salad sandwich I shared with my wife was excellant. The Pepperoni flat bread that we shared was good just not as good as the chicken salad. My son begged us to get him another hot dog. All in all a wonderful surprize that was the cap on a wonderful day trip to New Bern.

Great location and great view but the food is lacking. I have eaten here a few times since it has changed hands and have not been Wow’d to say the least. The menu choice is limited/repetitive once you rule out the multiple tomato, basil, mozzarella dishes. Caprese, bruschetta, burrata, chicken avvolto, tomato basil salad… you see where I’m going here. I had the chicken avvolto and it was really bland. Would have loved to have a soup of the day but they didn’t have one since apparently it’s up to the chef to see if he wants to make one or not. It’s too bad really since it is such a great location and the service is pretty good. Not sure I will return.

First visit, I ordered the crab remulade sandwich. I went to the restroom while waiting and there was no way to dry my hands after washing. The sandwich arrived and I had a difficult time finding the crab meat. The crossiant was good, but overall the sandwich was a letdown. I had a side of sweet potato casserole that was excellent. Great location, very nice waitress. I hate to give a lower rating, take for what it’s worth as most other ratings are much better.

In a nutshell: the sandwich was delicious; the salad was not very good. Firstly, this place is in a very nice setting. There is some outdoor seating. It is bright and light. Our server was very friendly. The chicken avvolto sandwich($ 10) was very good. There was a nice ciabatta bread with a fat, thick slice of mozzarella(yum), and the aioli was great. I would get this sandwich again – tasty! It came with a side dish; I chose mac n cheese and it was pretty good. Now, the chicken fajita salad($ 10) — it was a regular salad with some shredded orange cheese on it. The guac on the side didn’t taste so good so I didn’t eat it. It was an average salad; I wouldn’t order it again.

Dank an Unilocal.

Great Sunday brunch. It’s hidden behind the history center. You have to walk around back to get in. They gave a great patio with fantastic views of lawsons creek and the Trent river. I had the caprese Benedict its cabiatta bread with tomatoes and basil and poached eggs with hollandaise sauce which was great and fresh. I had also the deviled eggs which were good. They have red velvet pancakes which sound delicious. It’s a small wonderful place with a fantastic location. You can walk around afterwards on the river walk and see the history museum. I wish new bern had more places like on its waterfront. Good friendly service too.

Great service and food. It’s located on the back side of the museum office so make sure you don’t leave if you don’t see it immediately. I has the fajita salad. Delicious. Guacamole that came with it was fresh and perfectly made. We got the black bean hummus as an appetizer and was awesome! I would go back just for the hummus! Staff was so friendly and lots of locals were eating there.

This was an absolutely unexpected experience. It was amazing! Everything our table tried was wonderful. The crab cake wrap was full of crab, not filler. The roast need sandwich was perfectly seasoned with horseradish, and the turkey club was great as well! Service was a tad slow, but that was a symptom of a large number of tables showing up all at once. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hidden gem!

Nothing but rave reviews for Lawson’s Landing! Beautiful view of the Trent river, wonderful food and excellent service. The black bean hummus they bring with chips is fabulous and made in house as are their dressings and many of their menu items. Even our 5 year old devoured her lunch. We really enjoyed our experience.

Cute little place that’s great for a lunch with friends. The view of the Trent river is amazing, and on warm days it’s great to just sit out there. The food is really good, and I highly suggest the BLT pita wrap. It’s amazing. Also, the fried apples make for a great side. Also, the turkey club is very good. They also have an ice cream area inside where you can get either a shake, or just a scoop of ice cream. Quite delicious! I personally had a wonderful experience with the servers. At one point I had accidentally dropped my friends salad dressing into her drink. The waiter immediately came over and asked if he could replace the drink and dressing. Then when he came back, he teased us in a lighthearted manner that really helped to blow the entire thing I’ve and make me less embarrassed about the event. The biggest down side is that the food did take a little bit of time(about 45 minutes on a non busy day) and that due to the historic center being right there a large group of maybe 100 – 150 kids came on a field trip and all ate their bagged lunches near us. Quite loud. The kids however, we’re not the restraints fault.

Best kept secret in New Bern! I almost hate reviewing it as I know I’ll have to share its awesomeness with everyone else once word gets out. Great food, excellent prices and exceptional service. Diners are greeted with bright, open and clean dining room as well as some amazing sweet potato biscuits with honey butter. There is a wide variety of options on the menu as well as a coffee bar for the caffeine enthusiast. Prices are more than reasonable and service is prompt and friendly. Situated on the waterfront in the NC History Museum it has some amazing views from every seat as well as outdoor seating. Only drawback, no direct access from the water.

Food is good. Kids menu could use some work. Can’t beat the view. Service wasn’t bad. Over all the menu could use more variety.

This was a surprising place to discover. Modern vibe, great service and fantastic views over the water from inside(and in good weather) outside the café. There were a number of items on the menu that change seasonally and nice variations on your«standard» fare. The grilled cheese sandwich was excellent and the chili bowl was much larger than I expected. I would definitely return here on my next visit to New Bern. Thumbs up for: service, menu variety & taste, cleanliness, modern décor, outstanding views.

Stopped here on way back from vacation by finding Lawson’s Landing on the web. At first, I thought it was a cafeteria was a little concerned. No reason to be concerned though. Very nice view on the river. They focus on salads and wraps and not burgers and fries. The food was very good and they also have desert and ice cream. Service was good. Not familiar with other restaurants in New Bern, but Lawson’s Landing is worth a try for lunch.
