My parents and I visited for lunch — they’re familiar with Remember When and visit regularly — and had a wonderful meal in a cozy atmosphere. My parents each ordered a Saranac root beer, and I had ice water and coffee, hot and fresh. For starters we all ordered the soup of the day, Russian potato with leak, dill and sour cream. Served in antique china cups it was hot and savory, perfect on the cold, damp day. Our entrees followed — a Blue Chip Burger, a massive beef burger with blue cheese and butter mixed into the ground beef; a Autumn Salad, mixed greens with walnuts, feta and Granny Smith apple slices and a honey mustard dressing; and a three cheese panini with spinach, grilled onions and bacon. Everything was perfectly prepared in very generous portions. I’d have liked to try the peanut butter pie from the extensive dessert menu(everything is made in-house!), but was too full from the panini. Oh well… This was such an enjoyable experience, I’m sure there will be a ‘next time’. The dining rooms are filled with old black and white photos, antique teapots, stained glass lamps and mismatched antique tables and chairs. Just off the dining rooms is an antique shop filled with furniture and many beautiful pieces of china and depression era glass. Service was prompt and personable. Important to note is that Remember When closes for the winter months, usually from just before Christmas to sometime in the spring. Watch their website for details.
