Golden Era

This is a wonderful «new» bar in the building that was once home to the legendary Cirino’s restaurant. I had a wonderul time here on a weekend evening. It was nice and low-​key, not loud and obnoxious like other nearby bars in downtown Nevada City. It was not overly crowded, and there was some pleasant live music to be enjoyed. I was very comfortable here. It was nice to be able to hang out and not look over my shoulder, wondering who and what was going on around me. The bartenders were very nice and friendly, and even shared a few samples of things with us. They have an impressive selection of not-​so-​well-​known, interesting high quality liquors here. I would definitely go back any time and would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a pleasant evening out in Nevada City without the insane, rowdy club scene at other places in town.

Drinks are good, drinks can be a little slow coming out sometimes but the servers are great

The atmosphere is good, but then again, when it was Cireno’s it was good too. But its hard to spend any amount of time here without food. No appetizers, just salted munchies. Thus, just one beverage and off to have food elsewhere. The drinks are interesting, Thank goodness, if you don’t like what you asked for, they’ll replace it for free. The drink prices are stiff. More mixology on new drinks forgetting that there are so many classic beverages.

Yes! We now have some serious mixology in Nevada County! This is a super fun place with a great roaring 20’s atmosphere. The drinks are amazing and the service is great. There were four of us and we tried a number of cocktails on the menu. They were all well presented and unique. We went with friends from out of town and they are looking forward to coming back to Nevada City soon because we had so much fun! Recommend the Miner’s Punch, Grass Valley Girl and (my favorite) the Gold Rush Sour.

It’s classy bar that I never entered in Nevada city, so glad find this place to enjoy music and drinks. Service was superb especially Jessie who served us was so charming and kind. Also the owners really care for the customers come thru the door and greed them which I have not seen In this town. Since I’m from SoCal. I always looking for classy bar to bring my friends and family, finally found one GOLDEN ERA !!!

I had the best time at the Golden Era! What a wonderful place. Nevada City really needed a new vibe for bars! Wonderful service, great vibe and yummy drinks!

Craft cocktails in Nevada City… Fantastic! It has been a long time coming. The bartenders are knowledgeable, and it’s great that many of the mixes are made on site. The owners look to quality ingredients in their cocktails and maintain friendly atmosphere in their establishment. This will be a regular stop.

Great location and great looking bar, but it is missing some key details. Their cocktail menu has some delicious selections but if you are looking for your basic beverage like a Jack Daniels Manhattan, a dirty martini, a craft beer or local wines, you won’t be able to get it here. We also ordered the $ 12 «charcuterie» plate. It was AWEFUL! Thick sliced Lunch meat ham and salami with 3 toasts and 2 olives. It wasn’t even arranged on the plate. Just slapped in a pile and put in front of us. When the one of the owners came by and asked how we were doing we mentioned the so called charcuterie and she laughed and said they just call it that to sound fancy. She seemed proud to be ripping people off. We left and walked down the street to Friar tucks for much better drinks and appetizers with friendlier staff and better prices.

Golden Era is beautifully decorated with a friendly and attentive staff, wonderful cocktails and just an all around cozy atmosphere. Perfect spot to go after a nice dinner for a final final!

Classy joint! We had pre-​dinner and post-​dinner cocktails– there was a live band playing cool jazz. The décor is perfect and the cocktails delicious. Excellent service. Wish my town had a place like this!

Best bar in town. Love the ambiance. Great place to meet friends for a drink or date night. Cocktail’s are amazing.

The only good thing I can say is that the cocktails are interesting and good. I had heard that they were going to be a cocktails and tapas bar, with a goldrush feel. I know that they’ve only been open for a short while (a month?) but there was no food at all, except for crunchies like the kind you can buy at Costco. Re the décor, I think that they were trying for a 1850’s kind of look, but it just does not work — the beautiful ceiling (pressed tin-​looking) is painted a bright yellow, as are the walls (yellow, not gold); the drapes don’t match anything else, nor do they evoke any particular era; the furniture is modern; the fireplace surround looks Tuscan-​faux; the candles on the table are too glitzy and opaque. Thankfully the bar from the previous restaurant was retained. Another couple sitting across from us wanted coffee and Bailey’s, but no coffee, not sure about the Bailey’s. The customers were disappointed and surprised but the server didn’t really care…

Nice atmosphere, great location! Love what they’ve done with the place. Could use more signature cocktails on the menu. Service does take a while so make sure you allow extra time.

Took a quick ride up the hill to check this place out. Just what the town needed! It’s refreshing to go somewhere that take the time and effort to make quality drinks. Awesome bourbon selection and friendly bartenders. Comfortable low key atmosphere, thanks for the great drinks.

Overheard a customer request a hot cocktail. The bartender recommended a hot totti. The customer asked if they had coffee or hot chocolate. The bartender rudely said that it wasn’t a coffee shop or candy store that it was a «cocktail bar». RUDE! He continued by listing the ingredients that they don’t carry! Although, I received good service. I was disappointed to see locals treated poorly by a business so new to the area.

Beautiful bar and a great place for a date or hanging out with friends. The cocktails were really good and they have my favorite tequila– Forteleza. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. We made several new friends. We’ll definitely return!

The snazziest; most appropriated; tasteful; classy; full menu bar in Nevada City — full stop. Tequila and scotch selection is off the chain. Bartenders are knowledgable, friendly, and clean-​cut.
If you’ve been around Nevada City even once, you’ll immediately see how this place stands out from local favorites. It’s worth a stopover for the scotch selection alone.
