We were at the jersey shore premium outlets and wanted to grab dinner before heading home. This restaurant popped up on my «nearby» list and we decided to check it out. As we walked in, an older gentleman greeted us and said«thank you»! We later found out he is «Jameson». A young lady greeted us inside and immediately took our order. I ordered oxtails with mash and collards. My husband ordered ½ rack of ribs, mac n cheese and sweet potatoes. I really liked my oxtails. They were cooked just right and had nice fatty bits hat make me dance in my seat. The mash was creamy and the collards were jus right. My husband enjoyed his meal too! The service is quick, the food is good, and and the people are friendly. That makes it a good place for me!

DELICIOUS! I was in Neptune to see family and old friends, and I really needed to have some good, authentic Soul Food before I left town. I made my meal at Jameson’s the last one for my trip, because the food is always a winner. I left town on an even higher note, thanks to Jameson’s: I highly recommend it!

The fired chicken was okay. Nothing special. Mac and cheese tasted microwaved. Collared greens were bland but with hot it was okay. Not sure if I would return.

Delicious southern cusine. If you LOVE collard greens and authentic southern cusine, you will be back to Jamesons over and over again! Plus, I have to say I had a charity event that needed a last minute donation(after another local joing bailed out on me – the one in Belmar). Mr. Jameson was to the rescue at the last minute. GOTOJAMESONS!

WOW! First time at Jameson’s Southern Cooking and I felt as if I was at Mr Jameson’s home! I ordered the half rack of BBQ ribs, collard greens and of course macaroni and cheese. When I say that the ribs literally fell off the bone. I really, really, really mean they did! The collard greens were seasoned to perfection and the mac and cheese delish! The service was very hospitable and the baseball game was on! Friendly, great eats and will return again and again for more southern cooking and enjoy Mr Jameson’s home(well restaurant which feels like you’re home) 5 stars+++

AMAZING!!! So glad I found this gem after a fun beach day with the girls! The ribs were falling off the bone and covered in tasty bbq sauce. It’s also pretty cool you can order a combo in case you’re stuck making a solid entrée choice. The fish is pretty good, as well as the yams and cornbread. If you have room for dessert, grab a slice of lemon cake or banana pudding. Mr. J was very nice and he’s found another customer for whenever I’m in town visiting!

Found this place today when looking for a place to eat. It is a homey place on a major road. The owner, Mr Jameson, was in very welcoming. I checked the daily specials, thinking that I was going to get the oxtails… UNTIL I saw that they had Croaker! I fried Croaker and can’t get it on the West Coast where I currently live. I grew up eating it in DC. It did not disappoint! Crispy, well seasoned, and — with a bit of hot sauce — delicious. I had the sides of cabbage and mac and cheese. The meal also came with a cornbread muffin. The muffin was dense but good. The cabbage was quite good(not mushy) –but the mac and cheese — well, maybe they had an off day. I also tried the Jameson branded drinks: an iced tea and a black cherry. I ended the meal with a piece of Red Velvet cake. Overall, the meal was a good rendition of down home cooking — especially the fish! Mr Jameson talked with me during and after my meal. He served in the USMC from 65 – 69 and is currently heading up the local VFW. He’s been in business for 23 years in the area. I hope to teturn before I go home on 5⁄10.

I’m so happy I found this place. Everything I’ve gotten at Jameson’s is freshly-made and tastes great. The servings of classic southern food are large and reasonably priced. The cakes taste homemade. I stop there every time I drive by. I love the oxtails over rice, the smothered pork chops and the whiting the best.

Found Jameson’s by accident, a very happy accident! We got a nice cross section of the menu, except for the fish dinners which we plan to return for. Our family of three ordered 1. pork ribs which fell off the bone, covered with great sauce, flavorful, home style, soft and cheesy mac n cheese and creamy, tender black eyed peas, to which we added some hot sauce that included in our bag 2. the chopped beef which was nice small pieces, tender with the right amount of fat, and the same sweet tangy sauce as ribs, rice and gravy which needed a little S&P, but with a silky smooth texture clinging to the rice and the mac n cheese and 3. chicken fingers which were crispy with nice breading(not too crunchy for his braces!) with smooth mashed potatoes and gravy and mac n cheese. For sharing we got a 4. fried shrimp dinner, they were nice larger sized shrimp, maybe 21 – 25’s, definitely breaded in house, not a pre-breaded commercial product, those smooth mashed potatoes with gravy and collard greens, the tender collards are very straightforward, not a lot of tang or heat or smokey turkey/ham hock flavor. We ordered lots of desserts too, chocolate layer cake, cheesecake, lemon cake, red velvet layer cake and sweet potato pie. We couldn’t finish our generously portioned dinners, so we haven’t touched the desserts yet, but they look homemade for sure. Oh and the corn muffins, which had just come out of the oven, yum! The owner, Mr. Bob Jameson, was gracious and friendly. I have no clue why anyone would say otherwise about this man. The reviewers who said otherwise must have some sort of personal issues. Jameson’s is a gem not to be missed! Down home Southern cooking right here in Neptune. We will absolutely be back!

Good home southern cooking for sure! Always take it to go, because eating there gets a little hot and stuffy. Not good air ventilation especially in the summer with no air. The food never disappoints. Favorite is the beef short ribs! MMmmmmmm!

Jamesons does a good job of providing tasty southern fare at reasonable prices. But there’s one gem on their menu — the oxtail. They give you big, fat pieces of tail that falls off the bone and melts in your mouth… it’s incredible.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. I was there on a recent Sunday at almost 5 pm, more than three hours before closing. The restaurant was quite busy with take out, with about 8 tables all unoccupied. When I arrived I was told that they were out of white meat chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens and most desserts. Many of the other customers were very disappointed that so many of the limited menu items were sold out. I placed a take out order for the leg and thigh fried chicken and an order of spare ribs. For side dishes I ordered the sweet potatoes and green beans. The ribs come with no side dishes. I also got the last order of banana pudding. After waiting about 15 min they told me they were out of spare ribs too, and asked me if I wanted baby back ribs instead, which I agreed to. The workers including the owner Bob clearly acted as if they were doing me and every other customer a favor by serving them whatever leftovers they had remaining and were very unapologetic about their poor planning and running out of so many menu items with 3 hours left to go in their business day. They indicated that they were wiped out of much of the food after church, being a Sunday. Well I didn’t point it out to them, but Sunday does come once per week so this should not have been too much of a surprise. The chicken was supposed to come with corn bread, but when I got home I found out they gave me two slices of whole wheat bread. They were probably out of corn bread too. The chicken was very crispy, and not either greasy or dry. The ribs drowned in a spicy BBQ sauce that was not bad, but would not be too mainstream. The quality of the ribs was ok at best, and they fell off the bones literally with the bones literally sitting on the top of the meat. The sweet potato were much more sweet then potato an the beans were mushy. The portions were more than adequate, but in the days of excess portion sizes in America, it was not overwhelming. Two dinners fed two hungry adults just fine. The food was packaged particularly well. We shared the banana pudding later in the evening for dessert and while it was decent, it was loaded with Nilla wafers with minimal pudding. Note that the entire place was spotless, and very clean.
