Found this place on a route 66 road trip that pass through Needles. Outstanding selection of jerky — everything from beef and turkey to alligator and kangaroo. This place is also offers samples of anything you’d like to try. I’ve never been disappointed by any of the jerky here. Everything is premium quality. If you’re a jerky fan then this place is a must stop!

My wallet fell out of the car in their parking lot with over $ 500 and 2 credit cards in it. I didn’t notice until I was over 2 hours away. It took a while to get a hold of them as their number online is disconnected but when I did, they found it and held onto it until I was able to get someone there to pick it up! I couldn’t be more appreciative! Good people that run this location! And even better jerky, a must stop on your way home from the river! I won’t go to the river without stopping! The only negative thing would be the fact that you can’t get ahold of them, but the only reason you would need to is if your hungover roommate opens the trunk in the parking lot and everything falls out the back and the only thing that doesn’t get put back in is your wallet with $ 500 in it! If this ever happens to you… Call the diner across the street and the nice owner will walk over there for you!

Always stop off here to get the worlds best Jerky. Been coming to the Needles location for years and sometimes on the way to a Mammoth. My dog Riley loves the Elk and starts whining when we cross the River from AZ because he knows Gus’s is getting close. We both got to meet Gus today on the way home and he got to meet his biggest furriest fan. Gus was very friendly and was happy Riley and myself chose his Jerky as the best in the world.

I look forward to our annual Laughlin trip to come to Gus’s! The jerky is so delicious and there is a large assortment of different jerky and other things; like honey and pickled veggies. This time they were completely sold out of every beef jerky except hot and cowboy. Which was still delicious but sad there wasn’t much to choose from. Friendly staff and great products. Definitely recommend it!

We make a detour on our way home from Laughlin to Yucca Valley just to go here. The beef brisket beef jerky is well worth the money. Tender and flavorful. We like to get the Sweet & Spicy, and Teriyaki. Finger-licking good!

When you get near the city of Searchlight, you will see a billboard with an animated smiling bee. About 30 minutes later you will find this place. Gotta say that the organic honey is pretty good! I bought a whole jar for $ 13, and it tastes way better than the Trader Joe’s stuff. One of my shorter reviews.

Now just because whomever started this chain of novelty snack shops has a devilishly sexy name… just like yours truly doesn’t mean I am biased! But after heading out the river for many years and seeing the«Fresh Jerky» signs dotted along the road… I had really never stopped. Well this year we did. We stopped at the Needles location and while the location is about the size of a mechanic shop waiting room… or rather is in an actual rented out mechanics shop waiting room, we are glad we stopped! The girl working in the shop was nice, and accommodation… offering samples of just about everything. As with most all jerky, it isn’t cheap, but the brisket jerky was really the best I have every had… and the old school honey sticks kept my daughter’s sweet tooth satisfied all weekend long! See ya next time Gus!

Gus’s Really Good Jerky? No. I wouldn’t say really good or just good for that matter. It’s just ok. If I was really anal I would say it’s false advertising. So here’s my story. This place is pretty much right off of the J Street exit just north of the I-40. The only reason why I stopped off here is because of the detour I had to take coming from Laughlin going to Lake Havasu. Floods caused the normal roads I take to be closed. So if it wasn’t for that, I would of never heard of this place. Ok, so I come in wondering if they have«Really Good Jerky». What I found was that it was«Actually Pretty Pricey». There are 4 sections of different kinds of meat. You have Brisket, Sirloin, Turkey, and Elk. Yes, I said Elk. From these meats you had different flavors like sweet and spicy, teriyaki, and just plain hot. From what I remember, the prices ranged from 10 to 15 bucks for one bag depending on the kind of meat you got. I ended up getting the Sweet n Spicy Sirloin and the basic Elk Jerky. The Sirloin was 10 while the Elk was 15 so 25 bucks for two medium sized bags of jerky. Now the only reason why I got those two mentioned was that I was able to sample all the flavors but wasn’t lookin to shell out that much cash just for jerky. If anything, most of the jerky I sampled was a bit more salty than I anticipated. This makes my stop at Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker even better because of this. So Gus, sorry but I won’t be coming back any time soon, flood or not. Only good thing I can say is that if you have never tried Elk before than that’s probably your only reason to come here. Just to try Elk Jerky out of curiosity.

Its not that expensive when you look at the name brands of corporate sellers. Jeez, give the guy a break. Also, it clearly states that there is no MSG, or preservatives in Gus’s Jerky, where as in Jacks Links, it is clearly labeled. You also do not have to deal with the ridiculous interactive website with Gus, like you would with Jack’s Link. Another point. What does a Sasquatch have to do with anything related to Jerky? Wouldn’t you rather your money go to a small group of people trying to earn a living, than a corporate group who underpays hundreds or people, and demands long hours, with little health benefits. Not only that but the quality of the meat… what portion of your money went into insuring that everything was made per your standards? That is what I will never understand about society. We will gladly verbally support the working man, but when he tries to make something unique and genuine, and earn a living from it, and support himself/herself by asking for a dollar or two more… we have the incentive to grab the Jack’s Links package because it is $ 7.99, and complain of Gus’s price being too high. I trust Gus and the local Butcher more than I trust Corporate. Keep going Gus, and thank you for what you do.
