Entrance to the campsite is located about 7 miles NW of Nederland. Go north on Hwy 72 then take Hwy 116 west on a dirt road for 5 miles. No SUV clearance needed but winter snow might change that. Also RVs might have trouble driving through narrow turns.
Campsite is $ 13 per night but you can park at the entrance for free and hike west for about 1 mile to reach Rainbow Lakes. Rocky hike but there was 6 year olds there so just man up and pack enough clothing because your at 9000ft. Not the best hike, but the campsite is nicely secluded from the city.
