Food was okay. We liked the cold sandwiches and the kids liked the hotdogs(which I ordered with whole wheat philly rolls). My son liked his breakfast sandwich, but my chicken sandwich was a little tough. The soft serve ice cream came in 8 flavors and was good enough. I walked out with a big bag of whole wheat cookies, pastry bars, salsa and pumpkin cake.

We ordered chicken salad sandwiches to go and then went down by the Mississippi River and had a picnic. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day for the same sandwich. This time we added the whole wheat sorghum cookies for dessert and were not sorry. The best baked good so far on our trip.

Tried a delicious-looking peanut butter brownie as it was the most appetizing thing in the pastry case. Was flavorless and weird. Tasted almost like it had gone bad. The rest of the pastries looked like they were picked up at the grocery store and relocated to the«restaurant». Tried to discard it discretely but there aren’t any trash cans around. The clerk seemed surprised and irked that 3 people couldn’t finish a brownie. I hopped back in line to order something else but a group of people cut in front of me and another clerk didn’t seem to notice or care. I left still hungry and ready to take my money back to Burlington, where we were staying.

You can make better sandwiches at your house. The hot dogs were good, but not worth $ 3. We ate here because there aren’t many options in Nauvoo, but I would not come back again. I would rather drive to Fort Madison or pay a hundred dollars or whatever it costs to eat at Hotel Nauvoo. OR even better, if you will be around during the pageant, just wait until the carnival starts. They have a little stand with $ 1 hot dogs and other food.
