Valvoline Instant Oil Change

I very rarely review places but I feel like I should with this business. I recently had taken my truck to get an oil change, during the time they had struggled to open my hood so I had to open the hood and I also described on how to close it to the person working on my vehicle. Once when they finished they did not listen to me about closing the hood and they had bent the hinge. I had to get the hinge replaced and when I called valvoline the manager had told me there is nothing they can do because it wasn’t on the cameras even though I have a picture of the bent hinge.
Another thing that had scared me was that one of the workers came up and shockingly asked «where did you get your oil changed last?» even though I had brought it to them before this incident. So that made me wonder if they did a bad oil change before. I used to use valvoline but I will no longer recommend or go back.

I always come here for the convenience. Its always very quick, under 15 mins. I get coupons via email every time i go as well, so it usually costs about $ 35. Worth it for the quickness and no appointment needed. They do try to upsell you for things like wiper blades and air filters. Even if you do not need them. I just say next time. Today they tried to sell me a transmission flush for a special rate with my oil change, showing me what its about and why its necessary, on a computer outside my car window. I declined the service. As long as you have the ability to decline pushed sales, this place is good.

It was anything but instant — I waited behind one car for about 30 mins and it was already in progress when I arrived. The staff took their time. There is only a oneway driveway in — the only way is out through the garage bay so you’re stuck. I usually go to jiffy lube but came here hoping it wouldn’t be as crowded. Well, it wasn’t but I don’t think I saved any time. I know I shouldn’t hold it against them but they are in a cellular void so I couldn’t even while away the time on my phone.

After my last experience, I was hesitant to come back here. At the end of my pregnancy, coupon in hand, I sucked it up and decided to give them another try. I’m glad I did because the staff, Arnold in particular, really redeemed themselves.
I came in with my husband’s truck and specified the oil type he wanted (since it’s a high mileage vehicle). Arnold looked at me and asked if I’d been in before, then named the type of car I’d brought it. I said yes, and he promptly apologized if I was offended or upset last time. He explained that the whole «conventional vs synthetic» conversation was because staff would actually get in trouble with «corporate» if they put synthetic in because it could ruin the engine. We ended up having a nice conversation where I explained to him that the previous visit would have been much nicer if Gary had just ASKED me if I knew any of the specifics about my car, rather than seeming to assume that I didn’t.
I didn’t get the impression that Arnold was trying to shine me on and, as he never mentioned anyone from the home office reading my previous review, it seemed that he was genuinely bothered that I had left upset last time. He gave me a discount on my service this time to make up for the frustration I experienced last time. After this experience, I’ll happily come back. Great customer service and great way to recover after a customer service misstep!

My husband went here for an oil change for the first time. He went deaf last year due to an autoimmune disease and can hear some with his hearing aid and cochlear implant, but it is limited. This place requires the customer to remain inside the car during the oil change. The person doing the service, which my husband believed to be the manager, was trying to ask questions while he was working, which my husband could not hear of course. My husband told the man multiple times that he has hearing problems and that he would have to speak up, but the man continued to look away and mumble. The employee also started rolling his eyes, making faces and looking annoyed when my husband had to keep asking him to repeat himself. This is mistreatment of people with disabilities and we will never go there again.
