We had debated getting Giordano’s from Chicago shipped in for our son’s 18th bday. After having a couyple pies from here, that notion is pretty much squashed. Giordano’s, Gino’s … Nah — La Coasta Nostra is the bomb!

This place is getting one star because there is no option for NO stars! I was born and raised and still reside in National City and have been very excited to try this place because I’ve heard from a couple people that it’s great. Being that today is Super Bowl Sunday my husband recommended we order pizza to feed our four children, company, and ourselves. I suggested we try this place because our usual favorite pizza house(Napoleon’s Pizza) isn’t opened on Sundays. Any-way’s to get to the point… My brother tried to go here the other day about noon and they were closed. I drove by about 11 am the other day and they were closed. The sign on the building says they open today at 3pm which is about the time the big game starts, so being that I have heard such good things about the food, I decided to give them a call. This is where it all ended before it even began… When the guy answered the phone I was a little surprised because the sign said they opened at 3pm and it’s only noon(the same time my brother went and they were closed) and I said«Oh you guys are opened today?» & he says to me in his best Douche Bag voice… «Of course we are… what kind of question is that?» They will never see a penny of my hard earned money, I don’t care how good they are…

This place must be a front for other illegal activities. I was turned on to this place with a Reader coupon. I checked the reviews here first. 5 stars or a 1 star. I always read the 1 star reviews first. It seems if you can get past the A-hole on the phone, there pizza seems to be worth the call through the A-hole. My 2 attempts at a good pizza almost didn’t get started because of the dude on the phone. I call on a Fri. night after working with the phone dude(now I know what everyone’s 1 staring this place over) I ordered a Da-His pizza pie. I was told it will take 45 min just to cook so I should pick it up in an hour and a half. I live in Santee, so from where I live it is a 33 min. drive. I map quested it and this adventure accordingly. I got there about 15 min early and was told my pizza wasn’t ready yet. It’s kind of in a creeper neighborhood, so I shoot to the car to await the«your pizza is ready signal». I’m waiting and a half hour later I go back in to be told my pie hasn’t even gone in the oven yet. It would be another Hour. I was livid. He could have told me that a half hour earlier, I would of left then. I was mad then… But today I thought I’d send someone else in my place and get that pie for football. I had it called in by another. My friend said that the guy who took his order was a tool. LOL I even warned my friend. My friend was told to pick up the pizza @5 my friend asked«5 pm for sure» and that was an hour and a half later. My friend got there @ 5:15pm and once again the pizza had not even got in the over at this point. My friend told the guy he drove all the way from El Cajon. This guy said«OH … your pizza still aren’t ready». My buddy is a buddist and he was pissed. This place is a joke. I wanted a Chicago style pie and this place doesn’t have food for sell. I do not post Unilocal unless it’s realy good or realy bad. Idon’t run into these very often but this place should come with a warning card in window that says something like«Plague stay away» and that’s not enough. Go get a Poppa John’s pizza at least you will be feed.

Pizza is amazing best deep dish in San Diego. I’ve had lefty’s and Beckley’s deep dishes and neither are even close to comparable to this place. If you want authentic stuffed Chicago pizza look no where else because this is the place!

I usually go to Lefty’s but came across this place on Unilocal and being in the mood for pizza and reading Unilocal reviews decided to give this place a chance. This is one of the times I’m glad I did! When I got here I was a bit iffy because it was empty they had no menus and the place is as big as my bathroom so I was more than a bit concerned? So I ended up getting my usual favorite as I do everywhere(that’s a good way to compare!) We were planning on dining in before we found out we couldn’t. «Not a biggie plenty of parks around» it was going to be 45 – 60 minutes before I could finally fin out what the fuss was about and I couldn’t wait! We took a little cruise through the hood… We came back for the pie and off we were to the nearest park! Needless to say the park was packed and our pizza pie smelled much better than the carne asada the party next to us was grilling! I didn’t want to share or sit on anyone’s lap because there were no available seats:) LOL! We went on another search for a less crowded park finally we found one. Okay so all the tables were taken along with all the benches and yes being a(chick. I started to get frustrated) we ended up having a picnic. But OMG!!! The minute I bit into my slice: P I was in food heaven all of my frustration went away and I couldn’t believe how good this pie was starting with the delicious sauce and working its way through the layers of yumminess that were making my mouth water! The crust is flaky and has amazing flavor, the sauce is sweet and is full of flavor you can taste the herbs and spices… The toppings are plentiful and not tiny at all and the best part cheese, cheese and more and more cheese!!! This place is definitely a hit and hidden jewel we definitely will be coming back and soon!!! The family loved it trust me this is most certainly a place everyone must try at least once! Oh yes and um we also received a military discount!!! Thanks for hooking us up!!;) P. s. You can’t leave a bad review if you haven’t tried the food. ;)

This place is so good! I’ve been disappointed in the past by following some Unilocaler reviews on pizza, but this place certainly isn’t one! Hubby and I aren’t large people but we ordered a large not knowing that it would literally weigh 20lbs. We enjoyed this excellent pizza for days and shared w/the neighbors too! We got the deep dish cheese w/pepperoni, jalapeños, onions, peppers and black olive. I’m from the midwest and I am quite familiar w/how a deep dish pie should taste and La Coasta has nailed it. This pizza is stuffed w/so much cheese and endless toppings. The cheese and crust are all just one big pile of an ooey gooey delicious mess! The sauce has just the right amount of sweet. I know San Diegans aren’t always the best at recognizing good eats, but I pray this place is recognized as it should be. As loyal customers now, we need you to stay LCNP! Long wait but well worth it!

This place makes an amazingly great tasting(and massive) pie! We were staying in town for Comic-Con this past week and ordered after we got back to our hotel on our last night in town. The owner/manager was very helpful and gave us an extremely accurate delivery time(I’m sure they were overrun with other attendees ordering at the same time we did). The pie arrived at the door exactly when he said it would. Since we were in a hotel, he brought us all the plates, napkins and pepper/cheese we needed, woohoo! The pie was HUGE! I way over-estimated the food we needed for 3 hungry people by ordering a large stuffed cheese pizza. Even though we were starving(I can put away half a large pizza on my own, no sweat), none of us could manage to eat more than one slice … the pizza was that big and densely packed with cheese and toppings! The flavor of the pizza was intense, it was super hot and cheesy, with so much meat stuffed into it that you could make another pizza with the toppings from one slice! The box was actually not strong enough to support the pizza, I had to use both hands under it so it didn’t collapse. The sauce was very yummy and the toppings and cheese were both very fresh and perfectly cooked. Wow, this is deep-dish pizza the way deep-dish pizza is meant to be served! I would definitely put this on my short list of the best deep-dish pizza places I have ever tried, and I will be sure to order from here again next time I’m in town … albeit, a much much smaller pizza next time so we don’t have to leave the rest behind! Oh yeah, we ordered fried mushrooms too… they were perfectly battered, seasoned and cooked. So tasty! Their URL for this restaurant is dead, so you’ll have to use the menu posted here on Unilocal or on grubhub, FYI.

Great food, great service from a fellow chi-town brother!!! Never had an issue when i call or when i go pick up the food. Employees are great, they go out of their way to make your food/experience a great one! For the dude name m. Ted B. instead of coming on a website and slamming a great business, when don’t you go like a man you are not! and talk to the manager/owner. that small issue could have gotten taken care of right there and then. Instead you come on here like a coward that you are and slam this place. You know that in this free world, that i fought for, you have the CHOICETOGOELSEWHERE, if you don’t like a place/business! So quit slamming small hard working businesses, and go get $ 5.00 pizza at Little Caesars…

I placed an order through for delivery everything went through just fine. we waited about an hour and I get an email that they refunded our money. When I asked about this, Grubhub told me: «it took nearly 45 minutes to contact the restaurant. They initially did not return our phone calls or emails regarding this issue, and when we finally got through they were very hostile to the person trying to confirm your order.» I will just stick with going Lefty’s and will never go to La Coasta Nostra. I will also reccomend not going to everyone I know.

I came here stricly on the Unilocal reviews. And yes, they are correct. The pizza is absolutely delicious. Wow! I had the deep dish w/sausage and pepperoni. I’ve been telling my friends all about this place. It takes about an hour to bake your pie so plan ahead. It’s take-out only.

One of the most delicious deep dish pizzas I’ve ever pigged out on! I love the name of this pizza joint too, La Coasta Nostra, which is in reference to the Italian/Sicilian mafias, «Cosa Nostra.» I noticed this place after it first opened up but never thought much about it. I guess I figured it was just another Giant King Pizza type of place because of its location. It wasn’t until I read all of the rave reviews on Unilocal and remembered a friend of mine, Alexis D., had mentioned this place that only then was I persuaded to give it a try. I’m sure glad I did because it was one of the best deep dish pizzas I’ve ever ate – seeing that I’ve never had the chance to visit Chicago. On my first visit, we ordered the thin crust because it was much cheaper and it was going to give me an idea as to how their pizza tasted. I must admit, I wasn’t exactly impressed and felt it was over priced although the cheese did taste good. My girlfriend loves thin crust and she was satisfied with the pizza which assured our return. It wasn’t until we ordered the deep dish pizza that I was convinced that this was the real deal Chi town pizza. The cheese is 100% real mozzarella that is so thick and difficult to cut or tear apart when you grab a slice, and the sauce is just amazingly tasty. The sauce is rich with a taste of herbs and perfect seasoning. The crust is a mile high and is crusty on the outside but soft and doughy in the middle and comes across as a perfect deep dish pie. I would urge you to order toppings on your pizza because it compliments all the cheese, sauce, and crust unless you want to just drown in those 3 basic elements. I seriously can’t stop thinking about this pizza and it’s been a few days after finishing the leftovers.

First of all, I need to be clear: I am ambitious and ate three slices of extra large deep dish in one sitting with bacon, pepperoni and sausage. Aside from being incredibly full from the abundance of cheese, I couldn’t take a crap for three days and had to suffer the embarrassment of buying a bottle of laxative from CVS and relieving my discomfort while at work. Was it worth the setback to my regularity? YES! Was it worth the night maids at the office having to clean the brown splatter marks all over the toilet seat in the employee bathroom? DOUBLEYES! Can I continue this review by answering questions that I pose? Eh, why not? Simply put, this pizza is delicious. Rob takes great pride in his work, and it translates into a very authentic, fresh and flavorful product that will send your mouth into a state of taste-gasmic satisfaction, and send your belt buckle to the next available notch in order to adequately accommodate your extra pizza carriage. Went back yesterday and tried a calzone and thin crust. Calzone had pepperoni, and the thin crust had ricotta, mushroom and spinach. If your benchmark for calzones is one of those monstrosities from Pizza Hut, then you should really get down to 18th Street and try the real thing. Super soft dough, generous amount of filling and tasted great. Best Calzone I’ve had this side of a Hot Pocket. The thin crust pizza was also excellent, and I don’t expect to have the same type of digestive issues I had with my overzealous consumption of the Deep Dish. There’s a new pizza joint in Nacho City, guys. Move over, Napoleones.

I consider myself a good Chicagoan even though I live in San Diego. I was very skeptical due to other hyped experiences in other restaurants that claimed to have«Original Chicago» or «Chicago Style» pizzas, etc. I was blown away by the quality and ingredients in the pizza. It tasted as good if not better as the ones back home. As a local pastor, I will be treating my whole church to Stuffed Pizza this Sat. I want them to taste what a real«Chicago Style» pizza tastes like. Thanks Robert for bringing a taste from Chi-town into our county. I am grateful. You have a loyal customer from now on! Rev. My gf and I found this place by accident while searching for a pizza joint near the metro San Diego area while still in the South Bay; my Unilocal app found this place. I didn’t even know this place existed and then I found out its only been open for about four months. We were extremely excited because we weren’t in the mood to drive too far and this place was just a few miles away, it was a new place to try for the first time and with amazing reviews. It was a little late and I didn’t expect this place to be open because not that many places stay open late in this area. Well, as far as pizza goes. It was actually quite funny because when we arrived it had the open sign on and the business hours said until midnight and we kept knocking and knocking for minutes and nobody answered. Finally, we called and the owner and he answered the phone which apparently was his cellphone and I asked him we’ve been outside for five minutes knocking and he said he was down the street walking his dog. Anyway, after a few minutes of talking to the owner, we decided to try a large deep dish Chicago pizza with cheese, tomato, green peppers and ricotta cheese. Forty-five minutes later, I was stuffing myself with the monstrous deep dish as I was driving back home. Maaan!, this shit didn’t even fit in the box. It was enormously stuffed with fresh and delicious tomato sauce, cheese, bell peppers and ricotta cheese. The crust was crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. It’s just remarkably amazing how good this pizza is. Believe me! That same night, four people ate and I still had left overs for my self the next two days. I’ll admit, its a bit expensive. Your going to spend easily $ 20 bucks on a pizza but its worth it. Trust me! The place is a hidden gem in NC, it delivers, stays open late, great Chicago style pizza and cool service from the owner. La Coasta Nostra Pizza is a must for any San Diegan.

I’ve eaten at several dozen«authentic» pizza places all over California, Nevada, Arizona. But short of the mid-west, and east coast. You cannot find great«Chicago style» pizza out here. Until this place opened. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, there are a handful of good pizza places out here. This is the only great pizza place I’ve been to in 5 years of being out here, and I’ve tried them all. If you like that Chef Boy R D style bland box made stuff. This is not the place for you. If you want a pizza that will make you considering swearing off all other pizza’s out there. This is the place. Pros: Best Chicago Style Pizza… Period! Cons: Only 1 location. :( Oh I forgot to mention. There new Calzones will make you want to slap yo mamma.

Other than going to Chicago if you are in the mood for an authentic Chicago deep dish pizza«pie» this is a place to go! Mine consisted of Italian beef, pepperoni, green peppers, onions, & tomatoes! This pie is three inches thick so it takes 45 minutes to cook. So, be prepared. Also all food is take out. My buddy warned me how filling it was. He ate two pieces and said his stomach hurt. I should have listened to him! Two pieces and I was done. I am a New York style pizza fan but, I have to tell you this pizza pie is AWESOME! Ask for Chicago’s own Matt or Rob.
