Usually a solid meal, but sometimes a place gets too far up its own ass about foodie ratings and the service makes you feel more like a burden than a guest. This is one of those places.

One of the best burger places I have been to, with such foodie choices in the music city, Pharmacy is the perfect prescription for a elite tasty burgers and wursts. Miss this place and all the times I’ve been there. A good little joint on east Nashville in surrounding suburbs, has a good homely german pub atmosphere as you walk in with tables, bar tables and seats at the actual bar. Goes into a closed patio with bench seating, where you can walk out to its nice backyard garden. My go to is the Farm burger, the juicy burger patty is served on a soft potato bun with a generous size apple smoked bacon, maple mustard and the Nashville staple of a over medium egg or to your choosing. The burger is more than enough for me, along with the fresh tots I get as a side, no hint of frozen food quality. I also get the curry ketchup, not spicy at all from the name but more of a bolder flavor and another side for my tots is the beer gravy which pretty cut and dry from its name. Garlic aioli is another dip that’s rich and goes well with fries or tots. Their wursts are also of big portion and good choice to get, beer garden has wide variety craft selection to choose from. A creamsicle orange soda is a wise choice also to compliment the outstanding food. A must have for burger aficionados or if your looking for the best food Nashville has to offer.

We went for dinner tonight– were told an hour but were seated in 30mins which was great. It was f’n H-O-T out which I think took away from experience. Burger was great but fries were ice cold. Eh didn’t live up to the hype. Go if you are in the area but don’t go out of your way.

We ordered the Pharmacy Burger(+ garlic aioli), Black Bean Burger, and Farm Burger, with three 20oz. Sprecher Root Beers. The root beer came in glass mugs without ice, filled to the brim. Pretty solid root beer, but nothing to rave about. Burgers were the same, pretty good but nothing out of this world. The patty didn’t have much flavor, but the toppings and sauces made up for it. Jalapeños on the black bean burger were excessively spicy; the burger was great when we removed the peppers. This place has won all of the awards for burgers in Nashville, so if you’re a foodie in the area, it’s definitely worth checking it out. While you’re at it, stop by the Birdhouse for some fried chicken right around the corner.

I got the sausage sampler platter and the person I was with got the Farm burger… and yet the only thing we really enjoyed was the side of chili, tater tots, and milkshakes. The sausages were anything but German or biergarten-like. Maybe we went on an off day(it was incredibly crowded so I doubt that), but the sausages were all the same color aka burnt and when we asked if that was normal the waiter said that’s how they always look. Fine if they’re a little charred on the outside since it should be grilled, but the inside of all three sausages were awful. I barely touched them by the end of the meal and ended up getting full on tater tots. If the sausages aren’t good, and if the burgers aren’t great, I don’t see the appeal and won’t be coming back.

We came at noon on a Sunday and sat right down. I ordered a beef burger and tots and thought they were delicious. I also ordered a strawberry malt. I don’t usually order strawberry flavored ice creams or shakes but after the waiter told us that it’s made from all fresh ingredients I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad that I did! I know that in the evenings there is quite a wait here but I would say it’s definitely worth it.

The food was consistently fresh and delicious and the wait staff at the bar provided friendly and attentive service. I visited three times during my seven day stay and look forward to going back when I return. There’s usually a wait for inside seating unless you eat at the bar(and even that was busy each time I went — and I went at three different times of the day) but there’s a lovely outdoor patio!

This was AMAZING food! If you don’t arrive at the right time, you’ll have quite a wait, but it is worth it! We ordered the cheeseburger(with 4 cheeses and garlic aioli) and added a fried egg — DELICIOUS! We also got the Chili burger — wow! My husband got the Pharmacy Burger with beer mustard and loved it! Everyone tried floats, soda, and a beer or two. There was nothing we didn’t love.

This place is a great Nashville classic. Seriously, this was one of the first restaurants I was taken to upon my first visit to the city that is now my home. And for good reason: this place shines in every area. The burgers are great: the Pharmacy Burger and Farm Burger are delicious, and they have delicious vegetarian burgers that even meat-eaters will enjoy. I haven’t even had a bad side dish at The Pharmacy. Seriously, I’d like to be buried in a pit of their sweet potato fries. In addition, all of their sodas and shakes are primo and have that made-fresh taste. If the weather is good, sit outside on their award-winning patio(yes, this is a thing). Their little screened-in area is nice, too. The downsides here are only this: everyone knows about this place. Unless you’re willing to wait for literally 2 hours, going here on a Friday or Saturday night is out of the question. And while you can wait for your table by getting a beer at their bar, there’s generally very little room to stand around, so the wait ends up being rather uncomfortable. All in all, if the worst thing I can say about a restaurant is that many, MANY people like it, it must be a good restaurant. The Pharmacy will never steer you wrong with any of its delicious foods or drinks, just be cognizant of when you’ll be visiting!

Insane line. Is it worth it? We snagged seats at the bar. I suggest this route if you are starving like we were. Getting a seat by the bar isn’t easy though. We waited way over an hour for a bar seat. The good looking waiters took our order and chatted with us. What can be better than a great conversation with amazing food? I ordered the black bean burger with sweet potato fries and the portion was huge! Great deal and extremely mouthwatering. The burger was so moist and flavorful. My friends loved their meat burgers too. We vacuumed it within a few minutes. There was absolute silence. All we heard was the chewing motion of our teeth and felt the tingly sensations in our mouth from pure satisfaction. Now that is how burgers should be made. If you are in Nashville, you must grab a burger from here. It’s extremely crowded with people waiting all around the restaurant so if you are not a fan of crowds, this is not the place for you. Cool note: their windows are tinted!

Delicious burgers… I normally order the Farm Burger which is a beef patty topped with Applewood bacon, country ham and a fried eggs. It does come with aside for $ 10+ tax or so. If you want to add cheese, that’ll cost you! I’ve had their strawberry malt and it’s delicious — made with real ice cream. One thing I’m definitely not a fan of is you cannot call in a carryout order. You have to come in person and order it from the bar. There’s nowhere to wait so you’re there for 15 minutes dodging customers, waiters and bartender. I guess there’s always an option to wait outside in the sun/rain, etc.

Super impressed with this little burger joint! We knew it was a popular spot so we expected a wait when we arrived. There were several people on the list but it looked like they were mostly couples and we had a group of five. Instead of just adding us to the bottom of the list, the hostess was thoughtful and realized she had an open table that would fit our group perfectly so they were able to seat us right away. I really appreciated how she thought through the situation rather than just being on autopilot. Now, the food! I decided to go with the falafel burger but with a turkey patty instead and I’m so glad I did! They have amazing turkey burgers and the combo with the yogurt sauce was really delicious. Everyone in my party loved their meals too — we were very pleased with both the food and the service. Awesome experience!

I love burgers. Where I live(central Connecticut) there are lots of cool, independent and reputable burger joints. I was meeting some family in E. Nashville and they suggested The Pharmacy. It was already bookmarked in my vast list of Unilocaly places. We arrived on a Sunday around 4:30 and there was a line and we were prepared to wait about an hour.(normally I wouldn’t wait that long but as I said, family-meet-up). We definitely wanted to sit outside and I dug that you couldn’t see what the outside dining looked like from the front. Our wait was only 25 minutes. 25 minutes of smelling some grilling meat… tempting us. We walked through the tiny restaurant and thought the beer garden was so dang adorable. It was shady and comfortable and we had a table for 8 people, for our party of 4 so that was nice to not feel jammed in there. I was delighted with their beer list. I was expecting it to be mostly German but they had everything(tap and bottle). I had a Green Flash IPA(love that one). I ordered a burger with blue cheese, lettuce, onion and mayo. It was great and the blue cheese was quite lovely. I liked that the burger wasn’t a beast. It was easy to eat and the bun… the bun was a pillow of goodness. I didn’t eat my tater tots but that’s just because I’m trying to avoid fried potatoes when I can. I appreciated that we didn’t feel rushed through our meal. We were catching up and lingered a bit and that was perfectly fine for our waitress. If I were in the area again and the wait wasn’t too long I would definitely have another meal and more beer outside again.

Don’t get me wrong. The Pharmacy was pretty good. But based on the hype(and the line) I think I expected magic and there was no magic involved in my meal. We waited for about an hour at 6:30 on a Sunday night(in fairness, the wait was actually shorter than they indicated when we put in our name). Service was slow, but friendly. My burger was good, but certainly not the best I’ve ever had, and I found the menu uninspiring. My cherry phosphate was fantastic. The large picnic-style tables out back are great when the weather is nice — allows them to accomodate large groups without adding even more to the wait. Overall, The Pharmacy is fine, just not worth the crazy lines. I’ll stick with Burger Republic for my indulgent burger needs in the future.

I was in town for a work conference and my mom came down for the weekend to meet for an evening. We decided to head to East Nashville after some internetting, grabbed an Über, and off we went. We arrived to a line out the door around 6:30pm on a beautiful late Spring Sunday evening. We added our names to the list(35 min wait) and headed to the bar to waste some time before our number was called. Mom got the blonde ale and I went with the Chocolate Stout(9% ABU). Since there weren’t any bites/nibbles on the menu, we opted to wait. After 40 min, we were seated on the upper level of the outdoor biergarten on a bench with a huge umbrella. I ordered the 3 wurst platter with sauerkraut and corn/bean salad(whoa, delish) and Mom got the Pharmacy burger with Sweet potato fries. She demolished her burger while I powered my way through a full helping of meats and mustards. Sweet place, I heard nothing but positive reviews from all we chatted with, and the music and service was on point.

I thought I had reviewed this place earlier but since I have been there over 5 times already I guess now is better than never! Drinks at the Pharmacy are second to none in Nashville and I have to physically restrain myself from ordering more than one! As for the food it’s typical of most hamburger places in town. They are well cooked and the Buns are very fresh, nothing too impressive but very solid. The side sauces that they do have however are pretty great, like the Honey Mustard. Stop at the pharmacy if you are ever in Nashville and make sure to grab a Drink! You will not be disappointed.

My two sisters and I came here around 3PM on a Wednesday and got seated right away. I’d definitely recommend coming at an off time to avoid the long waits that other reviewers mention. I’m not sure how the burgers here compare to others in Nashville, but as a visitor I have to say that it was simply an average burger. I’ve had my fair share of great burgers in Dallas and Los Angeles so that’s the level I’m comparing on. I give them credit for their unique burger options such as the mission city burger and for using unique bread, but the basics of the burger didn’t particularly stand out to me. I tried both the cheese burger and the mission city burger. The cheese burger is topped with three different cheeses and garlic aioli. I love cheese, but there was way too much cheese on the burger. I also think I wasn’t particularly fond of one of the cheeses in the mix, but I couldn’t quite tell for sure. Potentially a result of the over powering cheese, nothing stood out about the meat. It definitely didn’t taste bad and I finished it, but it doesn’t deserve more than 3 stars. The mission city burger on the other hand had a more balanced flavor profile. I enjoyed this burger more than the cheese burger, but I once again couldn’t distinguish anything in particular about the meat due to the toppings. Nonetheless, it was good and deserves 4 stars for its creativity and taste. I also got to try the tater tots, regular fries, and sweet potato fries; all of them were pretty good! The Pharmacy has a pretty cool vibe and their patio is a great place to spend a nice afternoon, but unfortunately the food didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. Don’t get me wrong: the burgers aren’t bad, they’re just not great. If I were to return, I’d probably get the pharmacy burger as I prefer simpler burgers so I can really taste the meat. Nonetheless, I’d say come check it out because I seem to have more of an unpopular opinion. My sisters loved the burgers here and I’ll admit I am a bit too meat focused when judging a burger so my opinion may not be the best.

I’ve heard so much about Pharmacy that I had pretty high expectations for my visit. We had about a 45 minute wait despite going around 3. We were seated inside but took some time to check out the beer garden in the back which looked super neat. I was very disappointed in the beer menu. I was expecting more selection because they advertise beer in their logo. Then again I’m spoiled by the enormous craft beer selection in Indy. The menu was great and offered several vegetarian selections. I opted for the falafel burger and tater tots both of which were delicious. I would definitely recommend Pharmacy to a friend.

The food here is delicious. It makes me want to grease up my handlebar mustache, throw on my angry cat vest, and toss down a couple IPA’s. Not because I actually dress like that, but because I would want to blend in and receive the service that the delicious food deserves.

Atmosphere was cool, I love the building and décor and the employees were very hipster(which is totally in right now, amiright??), but my socks weren’t knocked off by the food. I expected magic after everything I had heard, but it just wasn’t magic for me. The burger tasted similar to a burger I can get at Sonic drive through. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. And to top that off, I ordered a cider, and it was TWELVEBUCKS. For a friggin cider. I can get that same brand and bottle he poured it from at the store for five bucks. Left very disappointed.

The place was amazing! Friendly waitstaff, great food, and I liked the atmosphere. I got a cheeseburger(which had cheddar, Swiss, and Munster cheese with roasted garlic aioli and tomato). It was delicious. If you don’t want to be miserable after eating, I would split the burgers with a friend. They are pretty massive especially with the cheese. My group also tried the Farmhouse burger and the Mission burger both of which were amazing!

What a cool place. Décor is great. Service is great. The Phosphates are great. The burgers are meh. I love a good burger. The epitome of a good burger is just the right thickness cooked over a charcoal or wood fire. The Pharmacy has so many good things, but on their raison d’être, the burger, they fall short. J. Alexander’s continues to reign supreme as the best burger in Nashville.

Yummy burgers and a beer garden – that’s all you need in life! My favorite thing to order here is the Farm Burger, which comes with applewood bacon, a fried egg, beef patty and a maple mustard sauce. It also comes with your choice of side… homestyle fries or tater tots are the way to go. The farm house is pretty much the staple menu item I go with whenever I come here. I’ve tried the Mission style burger also(a tex-mex version) and wasn’t a huge fan. Aside from the yummy food selections, there’s a pretty extensive beer menu. Not as many items for wine, unfortunately. Be aware that there’s usually a long wait time for seats. The past three times I’ve eaten here, the hostess has always quoted me an 1hr waiting time at least. HOWEVER, there’s usually a couple seats at the bar(if you have a small party) and those are first come, first serve. Just grab a seat at the bar if you’re lucky and order away! Ample parking space on nearby streets.

I’m often skeptical of places that are so hyped. This place, though, lives up to it! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately seated. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, helping us pick delicious beverages(if you go, try the ginger cider — unique and yummy!). I opted for the falafel burger and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious, and the burger was large! The atmosphere is cozy and on-trend. We were close to our neighbors but didn’t feel like they were up in our business. The Pharmary strikes a great balance on all fronts; we’ll definitely be back!

The parking is horrid. Good luck getting a spot even on a Thursday lunch hour. The food is nothing to write home about and the burger but I had their classic Cheeseburger had meat that was too firmly pressed and a tad bit over cooked they need to learn how to pull together a Fluffier your burger construction and create an aoili garlic sauce that is a bit more zingier

This place is always packed! I got there right as they opened at 11am and it filled up within the first 15min of being in there. This place is unique in that not only burgers and food is great BUT they have a special Soda Jerk at the bar. You can get special soda drinks made right there for you. No other place I’ve ever seen even when traveling. They don’t do free refills on this specialty drink but for $ 1 dollar you can get refill on another flavor after the purchase of at least one. Food is amazing and though you sit there thinking there’s not enough food, it always satisfies me. I have been here a few times when I’m in the East Nashville area and try to stop in when I can. Great place to hang with friends, get a drink and chill. Outdoor patio and great vibe!

I feel like I have an unpopular opinion among my friends, but I feel The Pharmacy experience is just«meh.» My husband and I have lived in Nashville for nearly two years, and we finally just went. I was expecting an amazing meal, and I found what we got can be found in other places in the city. We came on a Sunday afternoon before noon, and we didn’t have a wait. I can’t imagine waiting 1 – 2 hours like most people do at peak hours. We both got burgers and fries, and my husband got a creamsicle soda. The soda was definitely one item on the menu that was delicious and equally unique. There were things that I asked for on the burger that were missing, but no big deal. Overall good burger, but I’ve had better. What blew me away though was the service. The Pharmacy has a system down, and they have it down to a T. They turn tables over very quickly and food comes out even quicker. Our waitress borderline made us feel rushed, but I do get that they are a very hot spot with a lot of traffic. We were literally in and out within 25 minutes. If you’re on a date where you want to talk, it’s probably not a good idea to come here during non-peak hours.

This is by far the best hamburger I have ever had. When you walk in you know this place is special. It has a wrap around bar that serves both inside and the patio outside. Double garage doors that open into a «beer garden» with outdoor seating. I ordered the farm burger and it was delivered in less that 5 minutes and served with German potato salad. Again, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic service and excellent food. I will be back. Oh. The burger with side was $ 10

The Pharmacy is a place we had heard about from others who had visited Nashville so we decided to give it a try on a recent visit. We were not disappointed! During a late dinner hour our wait to be seated was about 30 minutes, not bad considering how crowded they were. Service was friendly and very helpful with menu recommendations. The bar tender was helpful with craft beer choices based on my taste, opted for the Ashland Amber Ale(canned) which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife tried the Soultree Cider Ginger Apple and it too was perfect. For our main meal I ordered the Stroganoff burger with fresh cut fries and she the Cheese burger with the tots. Both arrived perfectly cooked as requested and oh so very flavorful. Definitely recommend these both. I have to admit the tots were much better than my fresh cut fries so I think I’d have preferred them instead. Lucky my wife shared with me! :-)

I consider myself a burger snob and The Pharmacy NEVER disappointing when visiting Nashville. I come from Louisville where our very own, Mussel and Burger Bar was voted in the top five burger joints in the country, Stout, Big Four Burgers, Grind Burger Kitchen, and multiple spots harness a slice of burger heaven!!! With that being said, I hold the Pharmacy to that same tasty standard and I am delighted after each and every visit! Typically, I go with a beer to pair with the Farmhouse Burger. I add garden aioli and jalapenos to my burger! The line is always out of the door so I highly recommend getting there early. The beer garden is great for any type of weather. You will always find people eating outside, even when it’s a bit nipply!!! The service is always exceptional and the gals are extremely knowledgeable on the menu and beer! Bravo, ya’ll always hit a home run in my book!

Loved this spot in East Nashville! We sat at the bar and enjoyed great service from the friendly bartenders. They were more than happy to offer us samples of the beers on tap. The Pharmacy specializes in German and Belgian brews and the vibe is very biergarten. I should also mention that they serve excellent burgers! I had a turkey cheeseburger with German potato salad on the side. Extra yummy was THEBUN. My hubby had their house made sausage and felt my burger was a better choice. This place can get pretty crowded. There was a 40 min wait when we arrived around 5:00 on a Wednesday, so do keep in mind the bar has open seating and great service!

Fantastic local burgers. High quality beef and creative toppings. The buns were very good. Something local fresh baked. They didn’t have the lettuce wrap available for our gluten free person, but did provide extra lettuce for the platform. Fun treat on the sides was very nice and crispy tater tots. Also have sweet potatoes fries and regular fries. Check out the phosphate soda specials. Design your own from the variety of syrups. Yum.

Don’t be swayed by the almost ever-present line: Pharmacy is often worth the wait! Plus if it’s bad they’ll open up the bar in the bier garden and you won’t even notice the wait. My friends swear by the burgers. Back when Pharmacy first opened, I had the black bean but it was as thick as paste and I never went back(this doesn’t effect my review because I have been back so many times I don’t even consider that burger). A few visits ago the Chili and Stroganoff burgers were almost unmanageable, yet delicious. With some plating improvements, these burgers haven’t lost any taste, but are less formidable. Personally, I always got for the jagerwurst or the bratwurst, and always go home with half for lunch the next day. Great slaw, house mustard, and deliciously cured meat. With a mix of European and local beers, you can’t go wrong at the Pharmacy.

Come early because a line starts out the door long before this place opens. We grabbed some seats at the beer garden and started off with soft drinks made in house. Between the Pharmacy cream soda and Creamsicle, I enjoyed the Creamsicle a tad bit better. It’s communal seating on the benches with the large overhead umbrellas. Our burgers came out soon enough. we both ordered the Farm Burger which reminds me of breakfast since it comes with ham, bacon, and an egg. Be sure to add lettuce, tomatoes, and other such toppings because it doesn’t come with the burger. Great burgers, good drinks, and beautiful eating outdoors in the beer garden. I had the pharmacy burger. But it wasn’t an easy decision. they have some appetizing burgers on their menu! I figured I would start with the basic and I was satisfied. It was very good but nothing out of this world. Burger was cooked well and the bun was fresh. There is a downside, which I’m assuming was a fluke, the fries were not so good. I had the fresh cut fries and they were cold and stale. My mom ordered the sweet potato fries and they were the same. Kind of wish I would have went with the tater tots. The place itself has a nice vibe. The outdoor seating with the lights is fun. Service was actually surprisingly slow considering it wasn’t very busy. I will definitely return and next up I think I’ll have the chili burger!

I’m really sad I can’t give this place 4 stars for only one reason but the most important which is how they cook their burger. Burger: look, their bread is just off the chain. The burger itself is delicious because their bread is just that good! Don’t let my review confuse you. What I didn’t like was the fact that they NEVER cook the patty right! Why ask us how we want our burgers done if it’s always cooked well done! I usually like my burger medium well but I always intentionally ask them to make it medium thinking that would fix it. Nope. So this is a warning to burger fanatics. Their burger is good just don’t expect the meat to be cooked the way you want it. Try to sit outside when the weather is nice because they have a great patio. In terms of wait, come early because the wait gets super long sometimes especially during the weekend. For less than $ 10 a burger, it’s not bad!
