The Cohn Learning Center

I have taken some excellent classes here, including pottery, grant writing and badminton. With the last, I have ended up in a regular badminton group (this is not the badminton of yesteryear — it is athletic!) and am getting lots of exercise and having great fun.
True as the first review said, the building has seen better days. But it’s remarkable these programs are available at such a low cost to the community.
I am not there for the building anyway, but what it offers by way of its teachers (who receive precious little money for what they do!) and other students.

I cannot testify to this school’s teaching skills, so I must confess that up front.
I went here to attend a neighborhood association meeting, and felt compelled to write about the location.
I could not find my group, and was told by another patron to ask the nearby janitor for help. I approached as he quietly mopped the stairs, then he kindly directed me where to go with a huge smile on his face. He actually seemed to enjoy what he was doing and interacting with folks.
I get the sense this center offers many things; one I know of is a senior program, called Senior Renaissance. However, I learned they are no longer funded by MNPS, and require donations to keep their program going.
Granted, it was dark outside when I walked up the exterior stairs, but the building seems rather stately. Unfortunately, it has seen better days as the ladies room I used was in disrepair.
