I am so happy to be the first person to review this location. I am from Alabama and frequently shop at a Publix location merely 2 miles away from my home. I shame this store for the horrible woman I had at the self checkout center kiosk. I look back and wish I had asked for a manager before I shut my mouth and left. The trip started out fine. There was a nice guy at the hot food counter that serves full plates with sides and main dishes. It was late, so the bar was nearly empty, but the young man helped me by telling me what was fresh and made me a very generously portioned plate. I move on to Triscuits and a Publix made chipotle turkey breast salad. This is where it got strange and left me feeling so disrespected and belittled. I go to the self checkout and ring up all my items to total right under $ 13. I then insert a $ 20 bill into the machine. The machine makes noises repeatedly as if it is searching for money and then counting it out, such as an ATM, but repeatedly no money comes out. I look down after this has occurred twice and I see a one dollar bill. I move it to be sure it was the only bill, and it was. I turn and state to the lady«looks like this machine is having technical difficulties.» She proceeds to tell me(in a very rude manner) that she saw the money«down there earlier» and to take my money. When I try to tell her it is only one dollar and that the machine hasn’t dispensed change(meaning coins) she starts talking to another woman and ignores me. When the woman looks back the coins dispense and she tells me to get the rest of my money and go. I was floored by this and waited another minute until the machine finally dispensed the 7 dollars(2 $ 1 bills and 1 $ 5 bill) and the coins. I walked over to the woman, showed her the $ 7 and simply told her that what she said to me and how she treated me was extremely disrespectful and rude. I had to walk out afterwards to prevent saying something completely derogatory. I should have gotten a manger but I simply don’t complain that way in stores. That being said, thanks for reading if you made it this far down. I am new to Unilocal and venting, or complimenting, seems healthy.
