This place is slightly above average in just about everything. I’ll start with the negatives. The sign outside is in Vietnamese so it’s a little hard to find. I called them 3 times just to get help with directions. The atmosphere inside is pleasant. It’s not too fancy and not so run down. It’s a family business so it feels like you’re going to your neighbors house for lunch, which I really enjoy. The menu has many things to offer at fair prices. The hotpot is the most expensive but it’s expected since it’s for sharing. Every single time I’ve been the food was delivered promptly and always fresh. The authenticity of the place is pretty good minus the amount of spice. They have a decent place with food that can speak for itself.

Well apparently I had a unique experience, or I have completely different taste than some of the other reviewers. I had a very poor experience at this restaurant on my first visit and while I typically return to try a place more than once before banning it from my list of places to dine out, this experience was poor enough I won’t return. The service was slow to almost non-existent by the end of the meal, we were barely acknowledged, the waitress/hostess sort of shooed us into our seats without much of a greeting, then handed us menus and walked off. There was an individual at the counter who sort of glared at us when we asked for the restroom and pointed in it’s general direction. The waitress returned to take our drink orders, then returned much later to ask for our food order, when asked for her suggestions she quickly pointed out a few things on the menu and rushed us along. We had a number of things including Phở and some spring rolls, a Banh Mi sandwich and noodles for the kids. Then a long wait… When our food finally came out, the waitress dropped off the food then disappeared for another long while. The Phở had no flavor, the broth was almost clear and lacked that kick it typically has. The Banh Mi was good per one of my dinner mates, but the noodles were bland, which worked out because my 2 year old was eating them but I wouldn’t order them again. We waited, and waited again, this time for our check or a refill on our drinks only to discover we weren’t getting anywhere, we finally had to wave her down to get any attention. Once she returned to the table, our waitress suddenly in a very Bi-Polar fashion decided to play with the kids by saying a few«cute kid things», then walked away. At no point during our meal were we asked how our meal was, did we need anything, or any of the other customary service related questions. Thoroughly and sadly disappointed. I honestly have no desire to return here again.

This place has the best Phở Ga in town. The chicken is never«weird» or gelatinous. It’s always delicious! Awesome broth. Fresh ingredients. I can’t really speak to any of the other menu offerings because I can’t bring myself to order anything else whenever I come here because the phở is that good. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant… the ambience is a little weird, but I always order to go. The staff is really sweet and the food is amazing. 9÷9÷12− I have gone completely veg for over 6 months now and this is the only non-veg food I crave in Nashville… besides a Rumba burger… seriously.

So its 9:15 at night and I want Vietnamese food. Of course every Vietnamese restaurant closes at 9pm so I was kind of out of luck. However, I called Phở Yen Hoa and asked them if I could do pick up and they said yes! Apparently, they stay around until 10pm so you can still call for pick up until around 9:30! Anyway, I ordered phở soup and thai tea. Both were good… the broth from the phở tasted different from what I’m used to, but it was tasty. And best of all, it only cost $ 10!!! Pros: — Late night hours — Super cheap — Huge menu Cons: — they don’t speak English very much… Forget it if you’re trying to get directions to the place. lol. — Not the best phở I’ve ever had but pretty good

Don’t know what happened to PYH, but Hieu Giang now occupies the premises. Initial impact poor! Sticky floor &BLARING music… But with a clientele of 2, now 5. Bearing that, the food delivery was very quick. Food quality a mixed bag: I thought the bang xeo filled pancake & the house fried rice scored 4⁄5. Partner’s crab(where was it?) phở was just adequate & the fried calamari was both toughish & the coating still very floury & oily — no crunch at all. Other dishes were forgettable. And the bathroom was, euphemistically, unclean. Maybe this standard is OK for hardcore Vietnamese food freaks or Vietnamese people willing to turn a blind eye to the shortcomings — but I thought pretty disappointing overall and not cheap enough to succeed at the real«cheap eats» bottom end of the market. I’d like to score it 1−½.

I, unlike many other reviewers, am relatively new to Phở. Up until last year, I even thought it was pronounced as «foe». This summer I was introduced to Phở Yen Hoa and have been a fan since. The service is very friendly, the prices very reasonable, and the phở has been delicious. I’ve even ordered take-out, which was a unique experience. I called right before closing, and my order was ready and waiting for me. I wasn’t aware that with take-out, they prepare all of your ingredients and package separately from the broth. I suppose this keeps the soup from over-cooking while you get it home. It’s an awesome dish on a cold winter day, and I like being able to dial up more spice with the pepers they provide.

While it may not look like much from the outside or inside, this is one fine bowl of phở. The broth had that great bone-soaked rich flavor with a healthy portion size and thinly sliced beef. They even threw in just the right amount of tendon and tripe that didn’t overpower the noodles or meat with all the fresh accoutrements.

I’ve eaten Vietnamese my entire life and I think I know what a good bowl of phở is. I’ve eaten at almost all of the Vietnamese restaurants in Nashville, including Miss Saigon and Kien Giang, and Phở Yen Hoa has a better bowl of phở. The phở at Phở Yen Hoa was well-portioned(small bowls of phở are insulting to me). The broth was flavorful, had substance, and not overly sweet(a common finding in too many bad phở restaurants). The noodles were firm and not overcooked and soft, and the meat was good quality, including the tripe. The phở was also accompanied by all the proper herbs, spices and sauces. Although it lacks ambiance as compared to its competitors, I go where the good phở is and not where I can look at fake bamboo and hear trickling water from a fountain. We’re fortunate to have many other good Vietnamese restaurants in the area, such as Kien Giang and Miss Saigon(the former being better, I think).(I would probably give these restaurants 3 stars.) But, if I’m going for phở, I’m going to Phở Yen Hoa. Now, only if we could get some good Chinese in here.

A good bowl of phở is comfort food the day after a late night out or on a cold day. I know good phở and this isn’t it. The broth was really clear and lacked flavor. Over all the worst phở I’ve ever had.

this is my favorite restaurant in Nashville. hands down, the best phở in town! i try and come to phở yen hoa once a week. its cheap, fast and SOGOOD. i dont understand why no one is ever at this place when i am here… i was however glad to see like 4 couples in the restaurant last time i was in(which was yesterday). if you like good Vietnamese food, check this place out. i have never been disappointed in this place(except when i got the tripe in my phở, but i guess that was my fault for ordering tripe!!) my favorite restaurant in town .

Not being able to compare it to other vietnamese restaurants in Nashville — I thought this place was great! It is very casual and unassuming, the perfect place for a nice relaxed dinner. I tried the Phở and also a rice noodle soup with seafood. Both were delicious and I will definitely be back!

I had been here previously, but only recently have I come to appreciate the diversity of the menu here. They have not only all of the Vietnamese dishes I so love(phở, bun, goi con, banh mi), but they also have Hot Pot and some Japanese dishes. Everything I’ve had tastes fresh, authentic(at least to my tastes) and is very reasonably priced. The décor is basic, don’t expect anything fancy, but the food is impressive, and really aren’t you there to eat? I’m semi-obsessed at this point with this restaurant, and will find any excuse to eat there. Mom’s sick? ok, she needs some phở and bun, oh yeah some goi con will really help her sniffles. I’ll be back, over and over and…

my sinuses have been giving me trouble all week, which is all the excuse i need to go get a bowl of phở! i’ve yet to try this spot, and figured it had to be good if it’s in such direct competition with kien giang(and to a lesser degree, miss saigon). so i ordered my usual, phở tai, which is phở with raw/rare steak. my bowl was presented with the usual accoutrements: a few slices of jalapeño, some holy basil, bean sprouts, and lime. already at the table were the sriracha, hoisin, sugar, and the demonic chili paste(really have no idea what that stuff is called, i just know it’s ruthless). the phở here is good. the broth has a good taste, not as sweet as miss saigon to me(which is a good thing) but lacking the torrent of flavor that kien giang gives you. they seem to give you a lot of noodles here, which are the thin type, not the flat ones. there are lots of green onions, which i’m very appreciative of! the beef is good quality, too. they seemed to have a pretty expansive menu, and as much as i say i will check out something different every time i go to a vietnamese spot… it never happens. the phở always traps me! good stuff here, and it’ll stay in the rotation when winter rolls around. eric b

This place has the most consistent phở in Nashville. The broth is never too oily, salty, or watered down… which I’ve encountered at a couple of other Vietnamese joints nearby. I’m a phở junkie, so I’m REALLY thankful for the existence of good, consistent phở in Nashville.

This was my first experience with Vietnamese food, and I rather enjoyed it. I’ve been twice and gotten the Phở Tau Hu(phở with tofu instead of beef) both times. It’ flavorful and filling. Very reasonable pricing, decent service. It also helps that it’s just down the street from work, so it’s a good place for me to pop in for lunch.

Maybe we hit this on a bad evening; Miss Saigon was closed, so we decided on the basis of these reviews to try this place. The food was so bad that we left without doing more than taste it. Gummy, lukewarm, completely unappetizing to the eye and mouth. Like Erin D., I found the portions sadly lacking compared to Kien Giang or Miss Saigon, particularly the fresh vegetables(which looked 3 – 4 days old). Sorry, but stick with Miss S. and Kien G. if you don’t want tobe put off Vietnamese food for life.

I’m a Ms Saigon girl. I hear tell that there are purist who are vehement in there preference for one of the 3 Vietnamese restaurants that are housed within different buildings of virtually this same shopping complex. I love Saigon’s Phở and don’t think Kien or Phở Yen Hoa are as good. However, while it’s not my favorite, it’s worth a try because you may find your preference to be the opposite of mine. Here is where I give Phở Yen Hoa props, I really love their spring roll thing that comes with the noodles, pork, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper. I actually think that Phở Yen’s are better than Ms Saigon so if you are having a hankering for some amazingly good spring roll thingys, mmmm. What else can I say, Vietnamese soup is just so yummy… I don’t understand how it’s not as popular as Sushi…

I’ll be honest, I’m a Kien Giang girl, but I tried Phở Yen Hoa this week because the friend I was going out with didn’t have cash and could only pay with credit. Everyone was very friendly and the food itself wasn’t bad. I was only disappointed because the only Phở they had was beef or chicken, no vegetable. I decided to get the chicken and just eat around it. The broth was good but condiment tray they brought out with it was nothing compared to what you get at Kien Giang — it was half the size and didn’t include the peppers. The Phở was also slightly more expensive(by like a dollar). I did see other things on the menu that I’d like to go back and try but was really craving Phở during my visit. I’m definitely going to give it another shot but I will be saving my Phở cravings for their neighbor.
